First the negatives... main dining room has black floors, black walls and black ceiling with exceptionally BRIGHT lights creating a difficult and awkward environment where you feel like you are on a stage! To see across the dining room one has to shield one's eyes with one's hands.... Paint the walls gray, and put some shades on those bright lights! Best to ask for the other dining room which has a much better environment for your eyes and senses. Flatware is the CHEAPEST sold to restaurants, terrible, just like the cheap flatware used by The Loft. Server was friendly for sure but not professional. None of the servers could tell you anything about any of the wines... except for the difference in color! Owners, teach your staff about the wine list! Your servers should know what a Malbec is and that it's from the Mendoza region in the Andes of Argentina, for example. We each had a dish that included a flatiron steak. Sadly our steaks were incredibly tough and chewy. I was able to eat ZERO of it... first bite... chew chew chew until it arrived at its destination, in a paper napkin. Same outcome for bites two and three.... Both ended up in my napkin! The server failed to notice that everything on my plate was gone but the steak appeared untouched! She should have noticed that the other foods were disappearing but the steaks sat appearing untouched on our plates. Green beans, shrimp, pasta dishes all a 10 out of 10! We will go back as overall this is a decent place to eat! However, still waiting on the down town Laurel restaurants to class it up! After all, we are a tourist town (HGTV-Home Town fans) and our guests are here daily from all over the country and world. Train the staff, learn the wines, ditch the cheap flatware, think about adding cloth napkins... and paint the dining room and dim those flood lights! read more

The food was absolutely delicious. I had the duck wontons and I've never had anything like that before I was pleasantly surprised very crispy on the outside and juicy duck meat inside. I also had the fried okra and I could tell that it was fresh okra, not frozen. My friend had the shrimp tacos. He said they were loaded with shrimp. Very delicious! He also enjoyed his side of green beans that were cooked with a flavoring of ham. We split the warm bread pudding for dessert, and I'm glad we had room for it. It was really good. The service was excellent. Dianna was our server and she was so sweet. She had the biggest smile very polite and helpful. I want to congratulate her on doing such a good job because she's new at the restaurant! You can't miss this place. This is our first time in Laurel and it was a great way to start our day. Served with a horseradish sauce! Than to the gumbo with a dear rich rouge flavor and crab and shrimp (could use more crab and shrimp tho). Red beans and rice I would rate a 6. Seamed to have an off flavors. Not balanced. Drinks were decent. I ordered a salad with a slice of Blueberry Lemon cheesecake and it was good - I bought one to bring with me!! The salad was massive, so I did not feel hungry afterwards. Gonna start with the only critique I have of the place - what's up with the dark dining room?! The hostess began to seat us there and had no problem moving when I asked to go into the light. Samantha was a lovely server and the food was abundant, reasonably priced, and delicious. Had fries with bacon, cheese, and fried jalapeno slices and plenty leftover to bring home. The only thing wrong with the shrimp bisque is I ordered a cup rather than a bowl. Wife enjoyed her fish tacos made with redfish which was nice and she love her side of Italian green beans. Allison read it as a smile it was very helpful. Navigating the menu. Couldn't decide between the roast beef for boy or the burger. She steered me towards the murder and it did not disappoint. I got the cheesy burger. Could only eat half of it took the rest home. She says it needs supper real well we'll see a little bit later tonight. The french fries were awesome. Great little place. I definitely recommend it. Came in town for the Crowder concert. Need to grab a bite to eat before we headed to the concert. Is great because the first place we stopped was definitely worth it. This place was pretty great. Had "real" meals previously this trip so pieced together a goody mix for lunch here: seafood gumbo, fried green tomatoes, and garlic cheese curds. Breakfast of CHAM-PEE-YOWNS. Gumbo was on point. Perfect. Tomatoes were good - but not the best we'd had this trip. Decent to good. Cheese curds were garlicky and delish. Probably needed another 30 seconds in the frier, tops (or maybe they sat out for a few min too long before we got them), but they were still good. Service was stellar - wish I remembered our girl's name. She was so attentive and sweet. Ambiance was perfect - mix of modern well done inside of an old building with old brick wall. Love that. I should have asked more about the history of the building. Felt like a lot of locals inside. Will be back for sure next time I'm in town. read more

Had dinner there after the tree lighting Friday night and had another wonderful experience, so much so that we came back for lunch on Saturday. Both times the food was great and plentiful and both times our server Brianna, was a delight. I love Cajun cuisine and I was in the mood to stop at Cafe la Fleur's for dinner. Made it there 2 times in a month. First time I had Blackened Red Fish. It was a 10/10. Prepared correctly and not too much spice to drowned out the flavor of the fish. Service was out-if-this-world. Staff was friendly and let us finish our deserts way after they closed. 2nd time was a different story. Basically had a bowl of each of their soups. 2 out of 3 were good. The total flop was the Red Beans & Rice. A few beans, a few pieces of sausage and served at room temp. I was warned by a regular and I didn't listen. Too bad! read more

It comes w a side too Side of Freshly made Fried Okra - 5 Stars. So OMG!!! Definitely get the fried okra. The picture tells all! Seafood Gumbo - 4 Stars. The picture doesn't do justice on the taste and ingredients because of the dark Roux but you will enjoy it. I wish it had little bit more seafood items. Now, don't get me wrong, the bowl was empty in a few more minutes. I wanted to say "May I have some more please" from Oliver Twist. It was delicious! Debris' Fries - Straight Up 5 it is an appetizer that can feed 2 people w side item. The seasoned steak fries were loaded with thinly slice roast beef, dark rich gravy, and perfectly cooked sautéed onions. Fried Green Tomatoes- 4.5 Stars Large fried green tomatoes with a 8 slices and Crawfish Juliet Sauce Dessert Orange Cake - 4 stars Yummy. When they have it, get it! Cafe la fleur is quite the little gem. My family and I came here for a quick lunch, we had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated but it was worth it. For an appetizer, we got the fried green tomatoes and they were amazing!! It comes with a nice creole sauce to balance out the acidity in the tomatoes. My mom got the chicken tortellini and it was delicious. I got the shrimp poboy with fried okra and the okra stole the show, well seasoned and very crispy. My husband got the redfish and dirty rice the flavors were superb. For dessert our waitress said they are known for their bread pudding. We all ordered a variety of food from po boys to soft tacos to salad to yummy duck wings. Duck wings were our starter, and I would recommend if you see on the specials board, get them. So delicious and tasty. One at our table had the garden salad and was pleased with the choice. A catfish po boy was served blackened. And it has spice, so be forewarned if that isn't your favorite. Dining companions ordered the fish tacos and shrimp tacos and liked both. Dirty rice with one and fries with another. We loved the cajun kick in all the dishes.
