The epitome of good southern food and southern hospitality! We had hoped to beat the Sunday lunch crowd, but no...they were all there!. The place was packed! However the food was fantastic. Chicken tenders were amazing, we got the southern veggies we've been craving. And because it was packed, we shared a table with a farming/ranching couple and his parents. They were so nice! 1 star SHOULD BE the rating, but out of courtesy for the food I added one more star. Ordering online is a JOKE! Not only did I have to wait in line to claim my order, my order was NOT ready. I had to wait over 30 minutes for it and it wasn't even correct. Don't bother calling, because apparently the West owners don't want any feedback. I miss Mr. Vic. The food is usually good but the wait time is laughable...especially when the order is messed up. Good luck! I miss the Mr. Vic West's quality standards. read more

Although the place was crowded, we didn't have any issue with the buffet. All the food was hot and very good.

Breakfast was kinda disappointing. Your best bet is go to Waffle House instead. Not a fan.

If I could give 0 stars I would; placed an order online for asap pick up - go to pick up the order & was told we didn't put a time on the order to pick it. My husband walked in & was told all this - so I walk in & the first thing the manager says is Oh, you must be the wife. I said I'm just trying ti figure out if we've been charged. The manager Paul tells me to stops screaming, as I'm stating that it's my voice!!! The whole staff starts telling me to just leave. Real nice place. Will never go back!!!! read more

This review is to refresh my review of 5 years ago. Not much has changed since then and that's good. This place serves breakfast but I always come for lunch. The blue plate special for $7.99 (includes drink) served Sunday thru Friday is what you probably want. After paying at the counter you go down a short cafeteria line and pick from one of 3 daily meat offerings and then select 2 of the 4-5 vegetable options. You also get a dessert or a 3rd veggie if you wish. With a bread choice and a drink you have a full meal and it tastes soooo good! For the money you can't beat it and it is only offered during lunchtime. If for some reason that doesn't appeal to or you come on a Saturday or for dinner any day, I really like their Jumbo Burger combo with onion rings. The burger has a 1/3 lb. patty and is well dressed on a big bun. It is a solidly good tasting hamburger. The onion rings are some of the best I have eaten and cooked in a batter with a pepper slant that is delicious. They have a Super Jumbo burger with a 2/3 lb. patty too. I am a fan of this place. Only my second time eating here, but both were delicious. The sign says Just Good Ol' Fashioned Food, and it is. Today we had the hamburger steaks with gravy, greens, rice, and cobbler. Where do I start? We were driving down to New Orleans along "dead dog highway" when we decided to get off and grab something. We chose the closest place to the highway so we could eat and jump back on. This place was terrible. It does get a prize though. It was one of the worst meals I've ever had at a restaurant. We got breakfast and the eggs were worse than a cheap hotel's complimentary breakfast. Where you get those soggy wet eggs in metal trays. The bacon sort of tasted like those eggs. In about five minutes I was in the bathroom and 4 out of 4 of us were feeling some version of stomach pains. The bathrooms were pretty dirty. That's expected for something that is so close to the highway. The workers wore looks on their faces that said "I will spit in your food". I hope they find new careers that are not so painstakingly awful. I started looking at reviews on here and google and couldn't believe my eyes. Just look at some of the photos. While on a road trip to New Orleans my family passed this place. I wanted something different than regular fast food places off the highway. I ordered the seafood feast which consisted of fried shrimp and fries. I wish I ordered grilled shrimp. I was not impressed by the at all. My son ordered the tater tots which were actually good. My order took a long time for a fast food restaurant which 1 order ahead of me. This is not be a restaurant I will try again. read more

It's like a fast food homemade breakfast so ordered bacon eggs tater tots and pancakes well we are the breakfast and the pancakes went home with us and ate them for the next couple days. It is a good clean breakfast-lunch place. The staff are well trained and also friendly. Personally I prefer the breakfast menu. I have not tried the lunch buffet but I see many using it. I did have a hamburger once for lunch and it was good. I would recommend it. read more

Great southern soul food. We had catfish with turnip greens, butter beans, green beans & coleslaw. The vegs were cooked with ham. (For y'all that don't eat ham.) It was all very good. And bread pudding for dessert ! Yum! Thru the week, get the blue plate special, from 11-2pm. Meat n' 3. The staff was very friendly. The price affordable. A little off the town center but worth it. Lots of locals here. Guys in suits, biker leathers, overalls & us tourist. Ambiance was plain. But you're not paying for fancy or hi rent districts. Just real good food. read more

Very disappointed - tried to have lunch here on Sunday - as hours posted 7-3 on Sunday - go there at 1:30, to see a closed sign. As many restaurants in Laurel are closed Sunday - we thought ok - try tomorrow Monday for breakfast. Well - closed again. Fine if you are going to be closed but post your correct hours. Busy at lunch, but super quick and very friendly service (there was even a staff member filling drinks at the soda fountain for folks). We got the blue plate specials for $7.69 each - comes with an entree, two sides, dessert, and a drink. And since you just go through the buffet line, there's no wait. Mixed reviews on the food- green beans, hot cornbread, and cornbread stuffing were delicious. Regular cornbread and corn weren't very good, and the entrees (we had beef and pork chops) were mediocre. They did let us sub in third sides instead of dessert, which was much appreciated. Overall, glad we made the stop. There aren't tons of quick food stops in the area off the highway, so it was fast, convenient, and the food was better than many of the other fast food options off the same exit. read more

When you go, try the biscuits with sausage gravy. They are awesome. The chicken fried steak was good also. Came quick and hot.

JUMBO chicken tenders. The best tendies I've ever had. Even better than Raisin Canes. Our server was so hospitable and offered such great service.
