We definitely underestimated how large the sides were going to be as a group. We should have gotten half of the sides because they were so plentiful. The main entree portions are pretty standard. Coming from NYC we didn't know what to expect from the local scene in Aspen but gotta say that we were very pleasantly surprised (and love the locals!). First of all, the idea behind and the style of the place is really cool and fresh. It's definitely not your typical mexican eatery, but rather a fusion of underground art and gangster grit. The staff was very attentive and knew their trade - it was nice for a change to be in a bar where despite huge crowd, the barman tried and remembered your order and knew when to check-in with us regularly (would be nice if some NYC places learned to be this personally attentive). We also ordered some guac and chips, which were pretty good, plus some other food to snack on. Some of it was stellar, while other ok - but given how new this place is, I wouldn't be surprised that its gets better as they iron-out the kinks (and trust me I've seen some horror stories before). All in all - the next time I'm in Aspen, this place will definitely be on my list again to visit. read more

Not just my favorite Mexican restaurant in town, but my favorite spot in Aspen overall. Mexican food is my #1 love and being a Southern California kid, the food here is pretty darn spot on. They don't just have the classic & traditional Mex/ American comfort favorites like burritos, enchiladas, nachos and fajitas (which are all done very well especially the carne asada,) but when you're in the mood for something a little more creative and chef inspired, this place has lots of really cool and delicious options like a risotto relleno, a chino Ahi, and Korean BBQ tacos. Most importantly for me tho is the vibe and decor which is always a nice and refreshing break from the more upscale and overly pretentious feel you get at most the other spots in town. This place is hip, casual, and comfortable with a very fun and attentive staff. It's always my go-to whenever I'm in town and is a major step up from the other Mex restaurants in this spot over the years. Thank you Chola!! read more

Went in for a casual meal, or so I thought. I was confused by the vibe of this restaurant if you can call it that and not sure but felt like I needed to get some ink done to fit in. The price for 2 Korean tacos was pretty outrageous even for Aspen and the drinks were crazy expensive. I thought locals owned this spot but I felt like I was in a New York eatery trying way to hard to be cutting edge. Overall, weak food, weird vibe, and a place deserving of its low Yelp rating. The nachos we're excellent, margaritas on point. Veggie tacos were pretty good but could use a tad more flavor or kick to them. The ambiance is rad - roses and skulls, a view of the mountains, high wooden tables by the bar, and cozy regular tables further inside. My complaint? I've been coming here since they opened. Service is usually good (bar seating) and food is ok. On my last visit I returned my menu to the server and told her it had food on it. She looks, say's "it's only beans" and proceeds to scrape off the dried food with her fingernail wanting to return the menu to me (which I refused). Can't make this stuff up. read more
