*RED FLAG* Awful! 0 Stars A BIRD SH*T IN MY BEER 1. We made a reservation and when we arrived we were seated outside with some heaters. I wish we would have been told this when we called. 2. Then A BIRD SH*T IN MY BEER nested in the rafters above the table. I informed the waited and asked to move inside. The waiter said she could not seat us inside after speaking with her manager even though there were a least 15 tables open because they were "reserved." So we settled and moved to a different table still outside. Which was still cold, but this time not under the heater. But all those tables were still empty during our meal. 3. The waiter had a *no big deal* kind of attitude and the manager never came over and helped or said anything. We reiterated our disappointment of the handling of the situation, still manger never showed up. 4. The food was cold! Beans were crusty as if they were sitting for a while. Rice was dry and flavorless. Chimichanga was was hot spicy not flavorful spicy, hiding the fact that the cooks are just bad! 5. Granted, this is a new restaurant but there are some basics that are way below average for a Mexican restaurant. For starters, the chips are worse than ANY store bought, (including 7/11)! The salsa is mediocre. The guacamole was soupy and bland. Regardless of the bad reviews that were going around, I was hopeful that my experience would be different. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they pull it together. I will definitely wait till I start to hear good things from other people before I give it another try. Word spreads fast in a small town. Nice surprise. From the greeting thru postre ppl were very pleasant. The salsa with the chips was rich with flavor, the guacamole was almost as good as my wife makes, the fresh tomatoes added nice texture and flavor. We had the street tacos Al Pastor and Carne Asada, both meats were full of flavor and the most tender we've ever had in a taco. We also ordered the wild mushroom quesadilla, excellent flavor. Staff confused and too busy to care about service. We called to order takeout and we're asked to call back in an hour. We called back an hour later was told they were now accepting takeout orders and put us on hold for 15 min another person picked the line up and said oh sorry we aren't taking orders now. We asked to speak to a manager at first was told they were too busy to come to the phone when pressed said they would come to the phone then left me on hold for too long finally gave up. read more

We had great margaritas and decent food but it didn't make up for the complete lack of restaurant etiquette. Our party of 11 was informed that the next reservation was waiting for our table 1.5 hours into our experience. In my opinion that is the very worst thing a restaurant can do. Ask me if I want another drink or dessert... you can hint all you want but when we paid $1k+ to have dinner in your loud bar area "table" PLEASE don't ask us to leave before we are finished chewing. We had a nice experience here. Overall, everything was good. My husband loved his burrito and I liked my mole. Chips and salsa are good. Chips could use more salt. Our server was fun and friendly. Although it drives me nuts when a server takes your plate away without asking if you're "all set?" My husband is too nice and didn't say anything to the server but when he took my plate, I told him "I'm still eating my dinner". That's server 101, just ask or wait until the plate is cleared. The decor in the place is great. Indoor and outdoor seating. It was just me and my husband for dinner and our bill was $150. The same amount what our hotel room costed in Snow Mass Village. He got 2 Cadillac margaritas at $48 total. I used to work in Manhattan and never saw that price in the city. My regular house margarita was $16. The prices are outrageous. The best Mexican food I found in all of Aspen. The staff is amazing, good prices. The interior is to die for. I went inside to eat with my friend strictly because of the interior and the food and drinks just threw it out the park. We ate here (9 of us) on our first night, a Saturday night, in Aspen. The place wasn't packed and we were seated quickly. The first thing I noticed here was the lovely decor! I absolutely loved all of it. The menu had your typical Mexican food options. I went with the street tacos and got Carnitas and El Pastor tacos which came with rice and black beans. The dish was $19. They were delicious! ALMOST as good as real Mexican tacos. The price was a little too high in my opinion, but you're in Aspen so what do you really expect? I didn't get any cocktails because I didn't want to pay $15 for a small glass of margarita, plus they only served them on the rocks. Stuff that was also ordered at our table was nachos ($12), which were loaded they way nachos should be. Seafood enchiladas ($27) which were very overpriced and not worth it said my friend. A taco salad ($10), delicious and huge! A steak fajita which my dad said was good, chicken fingers for the kiddies which also got a big thumbs up. Overall, we all enjoyed our food and the service. The atmosphere here is definitely more chill and laid back drawing in a younger crowd. The place is definitely a bit more pricey than your average restaurant, but again, you are in Aspen. I do recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good Mexican food! read more

This place is the perfect place for happy hour. We went there because most of the restaurants around there were closed and opened later. We got the Nachos with chicken, taquitos, and mini tacos. The nachos and taquitos were so delicious. I love the guacamole on the top. The mini tacos were just okay. It was kind of dry. So, you would need to add salsa to it or hot sauce. read more

Not only was the ID check unnecessary, but it seemed out of jealousy or something unrelated to age. Don't ask me, nobody else knew, either. Ambiance was perfect. Great tunes at perfect volume. Friendly servers. We were seated and served water/chips right away. They opened in May and would be great to see Mi Chola in business forever. Mexican food was delicious and not overpriced for Aspen. Family friendly and kids menu too. ....well then I just changed it from 5 stars to 4 stars...food took too long. 4 stars for the apps we had, two stars for the margs, averages out to three. The margarita price of $6 is right but it's basically straight tequila with a skosh of lime. If I had wanted a straight shot of tequila, I wouldn't have ordered a marg. Call us lightweights but even after the smalls were made into talls and we added extra water, they still weren't potable. Go to Su Casa if you want a good marg. All that being said, the Esquites (street corn) was exquisite and the guacamole was fresh, chunky and yummy. My fiancé and I have been eyeing this place since it was announced. We are originally from Southern California and we love the Mexican food there. Moving to Aspen, we have been cut off from goo authentic Mexican food. We called the restaurant to see if it was open, and a gentlemen names Adam answered the phone. We asked if there was an online menu, which there wasn't but he went above and beyond to text us the menu. We decided to give it a shot. So we walk in and the Vibe is awesome. Definitely for a younger crowd, but I think it's great! The bar scene is lively. We were able to get a table and ordered some food. I feel like we are unfair to critic the authenticity of the food since we grew up next to boarder. But we loved it! I ordered the duo combo- carne asada and tamale. I thought the tamale is okay, but the carne asada was amazing! My fiancé got the chille rellano and el pastor. He loved his dinner. I'm sure if he could have kicked his plate clean, he would. Beer was priced better than most places in Aspen. We can't really comment on the price of the food, because we think food here in Aspen is just expensive regardless, but we loved it. The atmosphere was really fun and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS. We got the chicken taquitos, so cal burrito and chicken Chile verde burrito. All super yummy. Zero food complaints. The ONLY reason this didn't get a 5 star rating was because the service wasn't stellar. Our waitress forgot salsa, noticed she forgot it, and we still waited a good 10/15 minutes for it. We visited Aspen last week, and when asking a local for their restaurant recommendation, Mi Chola was the 1st restaurant they mentioned. We had a delicious (although very expensive for Mexican cuisine, even by Aspen standards) meal and excellent service. My only concern was the complete lack of masks for ALL staff. We were in town for 6 nights, ate out for most meals, and didn't encounter this complete lack of safety standards at any of the other establishments we patronized. We plan to visit Aspen again soon, but will not be returning to Mi Chola. read more

One star is a very generous rating for this establishment. Food looked/tasted like it was from the frozen food section of city market but was priced as if it was made with gold. My chimichanga was about as warm as this rating and was 90% dough that was under cooked. My wife got a fish taco and her plate had a piece of beef on it. Perhaps our food wasn't hot because it went to another table first, that's probably our fault. When it came time for the check I was ready to go but my wife insisted on bringing up how my meal was mediocre at best. I watched our server tell the smug looking manager in all linen that one of her tables had a problem to which he couldn't be bothered to come over and talk to us instead the mighty benevolent manager took off 50% of my chimichanga, ohhh thank you Mr. Manager for your kindness. This place is beyond a joke, I would be surprised if they had any cooks with any actual culinary training or experience. Only thing it has going for it is a decent remodel but honestly the atmosphere makes you think the dress code requires you to wear an affliction cross, an extra medium t-shirt, and bedazzled jeans. I had dinner at Mi Chola with a few friends over the weekend and loved it! I had first noticed the decor when walking down the street: the display of silvery skulls laced with pink flowers are quite different. The place is fun and beautiful with booths, tables, a great bar, a really neat atmosphere, different from what we are used to in Mexican joints. Service was perfect and the food really good at a reasonable price for Aspen. The menu offers lots of options to choose from. The margaritas were a little tangy the way I like them (I had the prickly pear one), one of my friends would have liked it a little more sweet though. The (free) chips and salsa are yummy, and we shared some guacamole, also very good (but not made table side.) I had a couple tacos, that were both very good with complex flavors (the meat perfectly grilled and slightly crunchy) and generously filled, the combo came with rice and beans and this was more than enough for me. The only plus is that their chips and salsa are also bland and boring so you so you are in no danger of filling up on them prior to the food arriving. But you may leave hungry. The refried beans had clearly just been scraped out of a can and the cheese - completely flavorless. "Hatch chile" also appeared to come out of a jar or can of some sort. We came here for lunch and we both thought it was really good! Our waiter was really nice and attentive. He brought us chips and salsa which were yummy. I ordered the Santa Fe salad which was fresh, healthy and tasty-a rare but very much welcome option here in aspen.
