Wow what a mess this place was over priced and service was horrible. Had the Taquito plate and it was greasy, rice was terrible and food was down right gross. What a horrible experience. We have never felt so unwelcome. We showed up at 415 on Saturday to eat dinner. All kinds of tables and the older Hispanic hostess working on 2/5/22 made us feel like we were really putting her out. She did everything to talk us out of eating there, so we left. Very disappointing that this restaurant has gone down the tubes. We've given this place ample chances as we loved the food when they were down on Church st. I ordered the chicken Suiza enchiladas. They came and looked fantastic. I tasted them and the flavor was odd and fishy and sour. Well the chicken is canned chicken like tuna. It was disgusting. My wife and daughter agreed the chicken was canned and just pulled from the can and rolled up and served. No additional spices or sauce to mage it edible. My wife ordered the cheeseburger that was always her favorite and it was terrible. Bland small patty that was lost in the huge bun. The service was good as always and that's a shame the guys have to work in a place that serves terrible food. Sorry Mi Cocina you just don't know how to cook anymore. read more

We've ordered takeout several times during the stay home orders. Everything has always been fresh and delicious. I especially enjoy the margaritas to go - might be hard to give that up when this is over! We ordered 4 street taco family packs for Mother's Day and everyone raved about it. Part of our order was missing but luckily we're only 5 minutes away so my husband drove back to get it. The staff was very nice and apologetic for the error - they even gave us extra chips and salsa to make up for it. I really appreciated this and will definitely be back!!! read more

Ordered the Machaca Burrito plate (literally said it and pointed at the item in the menu) and the guy brought a taco burrito and when I told him I wanted the Machaca burrito he responded with "well you ordered the taco burrito" and gave me a bunch of attitude for wanting him to fix it. Excellent service, and delicious food. Seating is comfortable and the staff do try to distance the patrons for both safety and privacy, which is greatly appreciated. Servers are very familiar with the menu and are happy to provide suggestions or give you their opinion on the best dishes. The seafood dishes are excellent, and their carne asada is actually an entire thin sliced ribeye fillet-simply delicious! The queso fundido with chorizo is a bit rich for my taste but it is delicious and my boyfriend absolutely loves it. The chicken & rice soup is nice, I'm hoping to eventually eat there on a weekend so I can try the pozole, which is my favorite. Beans and rice are excellent (I always judge a Mexican restaurant on their beans, the most basic staple and should always be good), the tacos admittedly don't do much for me because I prefer my tacos dorado molida (ground beef) instead of shredded meat. But with such an expansive menu there's a ton of fantastic choices. Prices are a little high, but this is a true sit-down restaurant with a quality meal so I don't mind knowing what I'm going to enjoy. Most of all the staff is excellent, which definitely makes or breaks a nice restaurant. They understand this and really offer quality service. The second star is for the salsa.....the food is not very authentic and the lack of knowledge of the ingredients is a bit worrisome for those who have food allergies. I am celiac "allergic to wheat flour" and Mexican food has almost always been my "safe" option when dining out. I had albondigas soup and was a bit worried about the meatballs since they were more oval and sponge like but was told "they didn't think so" referring to the possible flour in the meat. I went ahead and ate it as this dish isn't typically made with flour. My mother use to cook us albondigas growing up and never used flour. Well I was wrong and the next day I had intense pain and bleeding from my intestines. I hate to be that person but this is why it's a state requirement to have allergen menus available, unfortunately some of us really need to know what's in the food. read more

Based on reviews, I had high expectations. We finally went here for dinner. One star for the chips and salsa, and the service. The restaurant seem to cater the white palate... food was not spiced enough, too much tomato sauce on the rice, and the tortillas were hard. We asked for hotter salsa and they didn't have any. Coming down the mountain saw Mi Cocina and decided to stop by. Their hospitality was immediately eye catching. The server was really nice and was full of suggestions for us. We weren't super hungry when we got there so we decided on some shareable plates rather than full course meals. We had the crane asada fries and the queso fundido. The fries were the BEST. My goodness, so tasty... the fries were extra crunchy and the flavor of everything was exquisite. Really really good. The queso fundido was also great, you can add any type of meat you'd like generally it comes with chorizo however we had that substituted because we don't eat pork. Once you're seated you automatically get chips and salsa I do have to say the salsa was mediocre. Not a favorite, it was very plain and generic. Their deserts looked so delicious but we were too full to try them, maybe next time! read more

Decided to go to this restaurant during the week for lunch. Sufficient parking is available. They have deflating inside & outside. Hostess was nice. Server was nice as well. We were sat inside. This was our first time to this restaurant. As they seat you down they ask you what you'd like to drink. Then another person brings you chips & salsa in the cutest container. My mother ordered the lunch Chile Colorado & I ordered not off the lunch menu but the 4 item combo don't remember what is called bit it comes with (1) Chile Relleno, (1) Enchilada, (1) Tamale, & (1) Hard Taco with rice & beans. Very big plate that I could not even finish it. My reason for giving them 4 stars was due to a little accident where the server dropped all the waters she had on her tray and completely soaked my moms behind and my pants. Thankfully we were both wearing black or it would've looked like we peed on ourselves. Manager could of apologized but didn't until after we told him. They brought is more napkins and could of said sorry then and there but didn't until I made a joke of it saying "Didnt know lunch came with a free shower & show". Next time I went with my husband. We had the most awesome server. He was very attentive and always came around to ask if we needed anything. Absolutely zero complaints this time. One more thing. NORMA the owner is so amazing. She is completely easy to talk to when you have a problem or a complaint. I've been here twice with my BF's family and both experiences were good. I just went here recently for New Year's Eve with a reservation for a large party (10 adults plus 1 kid) so there was a lot of orders to take down with a group this size. Once we were seated, we got our drink order taken right away. I had gotten a Cadillac margarita at the bar, which was $10. The drink wasn't great but it didn't suck either. Once our group got our drinks, we waited a good while before we could put in our food orders. For a bit we were looking for our server since we have a 4 year old at the table that needed to get fed. After some time, she came back with our drinks and finally took our dinner orders. She did come back more often to fill our water cups and fill our chip baskets. We went through the chips and salsa since we were waiting a while to get our dinner orders in. The good thing is that the food came out in the timely manner. All I got was a single shrimp enchilada because I had a later dinner thing with my family. It was good, nothing spectacular. Perhaps had I ordered the shrimp enchilada entree, it may have tasted better; who knows. The BF doesn't really care for the food here so he went with rolled tacos and it came with rice and beans. Again, nothing amazing just average. Overall, the food is okay and the service is spotty. We're not really close so we wouldn't come back since we have other tastier Mexican food options that are local to where we live. read more

Great home style Mexican comfort food. Close to where I live and always a go to for good Mexican food. I have tried almost everything on the menu and it is all very good, well seasoned and well prepared. Came in today to celebrate an early Father's day with my parents. They frequent this restaurant since they live across from it. This place is nice on the inside, staff is fairly friendly but lacks in service, seems to be an on going issue here. Our waitress today was friendly but lacking in service and attentiveness. I've been here several times now and my opinion of the food is the same, it's not good, it's greasy and lacks in flavor. Salsa is watery and tastes like they opened a can of tomatoes and added sugar and a little cilantro. The Ranchero sauce is horrible! How does a Mexican restaurant make a sauce that tastes like the canned ravioli I use to eat as a kid? It's just gross! I also took a taste of my mom's menudo and again watered down and lacked flavor, I've had better from a can, and that's not saying much. Maybe I need to have 4 or 5 drinks beforehand to enjoy the food here, I don't know. Will I be back? Unfortunately yes only because my parents like this place, but I'm done trying their mexican food.
