Unfortunately, this review is strictly based on Mi Cozumel's horrifically unorganized seating process. When we arrived, the line was out of the door. We soon learned that there were large empty tables reserved for a party of 25 and a party of 12. None of the people in these parties were present, leaving 20+ people waiting to add their names to the wait list. I'm not sure if there was a waitlist. We stood for almost 30 minutes, as the hostess called for parties of 2 and 3 people to be seated, who'd arrived after us and were behind us. All the while, we hadn't been able to put our names on any type of waitlist. The hostess told us the wait was 2 hours. However, several smaller parties only ended up waiting for 5-10 minutes. We had a party of 6 people. Comparably, others who were also waiting had parties of 4 and 5 people. Also, I called about 5 hours in advanced to see about leaving a reservation but was told that this restaurant does not take reservations. I'm not sure how good the food is but I'd recommend going on off hours to eliminate the crazy unorganized waiting... or just go somewhere else. read more

Quick review. Drinks are great but overly priced 25.00 and up. You will get the bill and are shocked when your bill is 85.00 and up. Then you get mad when you realize the food was not even good nor were you satisfied All Cause you got caught up with a big ass drink that filled your belly up. The Food is not good at all trust me and been more than once to know. My daughter likes the place and thinks it great but she doesn't eat cheese.. how can you trust a person who doesn't eat cheese on tacos lol. Possibly the stingiest food portions I've ever received from a Mexican restaurant. Food was COLD when we opened it up at the house. Flavor was perfectly fine but we knew we got the food from the bottom of the tray with how cold it was. Service was mediocre - we did not eat inside, and thank God we ordered to-go because they are BUMPING on a Friday night. Reggaeton was "party loud" inside with a packed house. Definitely not a place I would want to hang around, but some people enjoy that. read more

I returned shortly after the bag was filled with every food item I'd ordered and they refused to refund or replace. TERRIBLE customer service and even worse staff. Our server, Flavia server#3, was awesome. She was very speedy and informative of the menu. The manager was very nice and appreciative that came in to try the restaurant for the first time . The food came quick and it was the most authentic Mexican food i have ever had and their salsa is to die for I could drink with a straw, so flavorful. The food is ok. Drinks are fun. Service is very scattered, make sure you ask for everything you could possibly want when you order. The ambiance is very fun and exciting. HOWEVER, double check your bill before you pay. First time I went they added on a bunch of drinks we didn't order to the bill and we had to ask for the correct bill. When I went for the second time they tried to charge me for the upgraded version of the entree I got when i didn't order or receive the upgraded version. Tip is also always auto gratuity (18%) fyi. Had to complain about the wrong price and the waitress tried to tell me it was correct and looked shocked when I asked to see a menu to verify the price. Turns out I was right she was trying to upcharge me. She ended up just subtracting the overage amount from my bill (didn't change the auto tip amount) but at that point I was done arguing with her so I just paid. Just had to share our experience. We went there for my mother's birthday. I saw the reviews were not that great but I thought that it was just due to the service because it is a new restaurant. The first issue were the drinks. My mother and I both got margaritas. Hers was watery. I got the skinny margarita, so at least I could taste the lemon but I could not taste or feel the alcohol. They also did not refill our water ar all. My mother's fajitas were tiny strips of chicken that were burnt. My fish tacos had a small piece of dry fish on each one. My sisters taco salad was way more shell than salad. The only decent meal was my husband's $20 steak plate. The only thing they did well was take the check. It looks like they tried to copy Trompo in West Chester and failed. If you are thinking of going here go to Trompo instead. It is worth the trip and you will love the decor, food, and service. read more

A few things to think about when dining at MI COZUMEL check your order. make sure you get charged correctly for you food . and also check your receipt and your card to make sure that both match my receipt and my charges on my card didn't not match . I went back to the restaurant to get it corrected they walked away like they didn't understand what I was talking about. I had my receipt and my Mobil statement to show there was some type of mistake and they ignored me . So just pay close attention so that this doesn't happen to you . Seems to be a common theme reading other reviews that they don't actually want you eating there. So here are a few things: 1. Waitress didn't speak English and brought over 2 other people to confirm our order only for the drinks to be wrong anyway. 2. Random kids of employees running up to our table outside and freaking my dog out making it impossible to eat. 3. An employee asked if we wanted more chips then proceeded to take our basket of chips and start clearing the table WHILE we were eating and he never returned. 4. They promptly drop off the check without asking if we wanted anything else or if we were even finished and waited awkwardly for me to get my card out. If you like random meat in your dish that you didn't request, this is the place for you. This is a fast pace and lively restaurant. The cooks are going so fast in the kitchen that they don't cook your food with care. I ordered a seafood dish and had to send my food back 3 times because there was either chicken or beef in the dishes. I don't eat meat. Finally, they took the dish off my bill after initially refusing! The manager had the nerve to be upset and refused to gather the employees to sing happy to friend! I will not be back! Lovely evening ruined by greedy waiter. As others have noted, the waiter attempted to trick me into tipping a second time, flashing the receipt then claiming he had to have it back before he could ring me out. It took 3 attempts--2to other servers-- to get the manager to my table to get my receipt. I do not leave bad reviews nor complain but I'm still in shock. We ordered drinks and placed our orders with a server that we initially thought was nice. My husbands order came out wrong which was not a huge deal had they remade it but the waiter made it a huge deal that my husband even brought it to his attention and proceeded to call my husband "pinche cabron" =effin bas****. I demanded a manager and a tall man with braces came over said "ok" walked over to my husband asked if everything was ok to which my husband just nodded and the manager walked away. If this is how you handle customers to their face...what goes on in the kitchen? We paid our full bill to which they added gratuity and left quietly to be respectful of others but that was absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. read more

The service was atrocious, there were around 10 servers, and they were all huddling around in groups out on the floor, basically looking over my shoulder as I ate. So we went at 1:30 to avoid lunch crowds. We were very disappointed with service. Did not have enough silverware on table for all four people. Requested guacamole as a appetizer and did not receive until after meal was brought. Was very noisy, and could barely here person sitting across from me. Left with severe ringing in my ears. Had to ask server four times for additional silverware. Food was good but not exceptional. Mine was cold by the time it arrived to table then had to wait an additional 5 minutes to get silverware. The lunch menu is tiny and not easily found at the back of menu. Food doesn't taste seasoned and they put an automatic tip onto your bill and don't tell you about until you see the bill & you notice it yourself. Straight meh. The building is gorgeous, and very trendy. The food and service (at least when I visited) was under par, and overpriced. They have twenty or so $20 margaritas... $20... And don't offer a regular margarita unless you ask for it. They are served with a large amount of... Stuff .. on top, including a lollipop for some reason. They were ok at best. The chicken fajitas were dry and the meat was chopped very fine. I sat at the front door while they were quite empty for five minutes waiting to be seated at the bar, and when I got to my seat the chairs are so high I couldn't get my knees underneath the bar. I've never been rushed out the door of a restaurant until Mi Cozumel (Oakley). DINERS BEWARE of the rude and degrading staff, not to mention overpriced menu. My friend and I were looking forward to a girls night out. This seemed like a fun pick. Keyword: seemed. We met at 5:15 p.m. on a Saturday to avoid the dinner rush. When we arrived, there were open tables and no wait. They took our orders right away. Drinks and food were brought to our table in no time, although our drinks were not what we had ordered. Before we took our last bites - the rush to get us out the door began. I was finishing up my meal. Literally - with my fork in my mouth, our server was taking away my plate. My friend asked for a to-go box which was brought out right away. Then, came the checks. Our sever stood there, expecting immediate payment. Between the two of us - our bills came out to almost $90 (one entrée and one drink per person). The food and drinks were mediocre at best. We sensed right away that they wanted us gone. I insisted to my friend that we continue our conversation. Especially, based on how much we just paid for our meals. We hadn't seen each other in weeks and were trying to catch up. It's not uncommon to do so sharing a meal at a restaurant, right? At that point, we had been there for less than an hour. Over the next several minutes, more "fun" ensued: - I was grazing on chips. Our server came to the table and took them away without asking - The manager stopped by and asked us if we needed anything else - An employee removed everything from the table - Another employee came over and, without asking, bagged by friend's to-go box All not so subtle hints for us to leave. Not to mention, we caught our server and other employees constantly throwing dirty glances our way. Finally, the manager returned and told us he needed our table. Never has this happened to me in my entire life. Never. Rightfully, I was appalled. In total, we were there just over an hour. We weren't loud or rambunctious; literally, two friends catching up over dinner. By the way, the large groups surrounding us weren't being rushed out the door. My assessment: once they have your money, they want you gone - especially if you're a smaller party that's not ordering drink after drink. I understand that businesses need to make money, but a key part of that involves quality customer service. That's an area where Mi Cozumel is lacking, greatly. I wasn't surprised to read similar online reviews following our experience. Based on their poor business model, degrading treatment of customers and the overpriced menu - I will never dine at a Mi Cozumel establishment again. The Better Business Bureau also will be hearing about our experience, along with my personal network. For diners expecting to receive what they paid for, do yourself a favor and take your money elsewhere. read more

This experience was absolute chaos. We are waiting in a line of people to be seated. 20 minutes go by and nobody acknowledges we are even standing there. After the large group behind us is finally seated we are given a table. 20 minutes go by and our drink and food order is taken. The food comes out rather quickly after 20 or so minutes. We all completely finished our meals before the drink orders were out. We had to ask multiple times about our drinks before they finally made them. Our waitress had told us we would get free drinks this was definitely not the case. Not only did we get charged for drinks after our meal but they also added a 18% gratuity because we had a "large party" of 6. The Oakley Mi Cozumel is amazing. I keep coming back and am always impressed with the service, the ambience, the delicious margaritas, and the fresh food! I don't understand the negative reviews. Because they make give a 18%tip and tell u the workers have to support they family's but isn't that why they work at mi Cozumel to support their family's I had ordered a steak chicken and shrimp fajitas that cost 2899 and a tower that I thought was the 24.99 tower but she gave us the $50.99 so when it was signed to pay the bill, she split the price of the tower between me and my two daughters and get a tip from each of us me and one of my daughters both had to pay $8.95 tip I don't feel that fair. Don't go to this restaurant!!! My friend and I had not seen each other in years... we planned a dinner at this location, we were excited to see each other and spend some time catching up. Well... we went on a Friday night and it was busy. But we got a tiny table for two pretty quickly. Unfortunately as soon as we put our forks down they were asking us to leave. They hurried to go boxes in our faces. Picked up our chips and dip without asking if we were done. And then just took our drinks and said sorry ladies we need this table!!! I said and so do we!!! The food was super fresh and delicious. The service was fast even though it was really busy. Something specific to me is that I don't drink alcohol but used to absolutely love micheladas. They have a super delicious non alcoholic michelada that honestly was the highlight for me.
