I have been coming here for years, but moved out of the area for the past three. I am thrilled that they are still the best Mexican food (in my opinion) in Manchester! I had the Quezabirria Tacos with sides of silky refried beans and fluffy fresh rice. The Birria stew was delicious for dipping, so much so that I drank what was leftover from the tacos. Parking is directly across the street with two handicapped spots next to the outdoor seating and beside the entrance. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Love this place! Mi Jalisco has great and authentic food. It is our go-to place after league bowling and we often get there late in the evening, but the staff are always friendly and never seem put out by the lateness. Food: The food here was the highlight. I ordered mango habanero wings and a mushroom quesadilla. The wings were pretty spicy. I could feel the spice fumes from the plate sitting in front of me before I ever touched or tasted anything. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was delicious and the spice lingered long after I finished eating. The mushroom quesadilla was served on a plate alone but it tasted great. It was a bit greasy but that is somewhat normal for an overloaded quesadilla. Service: The service here was terrible. The waitress was clearly annoyed by our presence. There was only one other party in the restaurant and the waitress still was annoyed when we asked for a drink refill. Ambience: Parking is a bit congested here but there is additional parking across the street. The fireplace inside was under construction or maybe just covered with tarps for the winter. The salsa is from a jar. Immediate red flag for a mexican restaurant. The margarita almost gave me a heart attack it was just sour mix. Chips aren't homemade either. Now the main courses were a different story. Not signature mexican food, but still very tasty. Steak quesadilla was juicy, cheesy and crispy. Easily the best part of the meal. Service was whatever. She tended to us only a couple times. Right in the middle. not bad but not over the top Place in general felt dark and dirty. Ambiance is not great in general but that's not really what i care about when i go out to eat. This is a great little Mexican restaurant. We have been here a few times now and never had any issues. The food is great and you can get some decent lunch specials. They have a huge variety of margaritas which are all good. Jalapeño one really packs a nice hot bite. The service could use a little work, too much employee talking at the bar with customers waiting. But I had got the taco, chips and salsa, and some combo plate. And to be honest it wasn't the best. The chips and salsa were eh, the taco was soggy, and my entree just didn't taste good. Maybe because the beans were kinda too dry. Now I don't like to write bad reviews but I have to be honest about my experience. I will def try again some other time so I can be fair and review this place properly. Maybe it was because I got my food to-go and didn't eat there? That could be a factor too that could play into the situation. But from my take out situation it wasn't super good. The people were really friendly on the phone and in person the restaurant looked very nice and great location. So I'd say just because I didn't have the best time doesn't mean you will too. I'm quite cautious of leaving a bad review in COVID times when we're all generally trying to rally around our local businesses. That said, I am very compelled to explain the experience I just had. I called Mi Jalisco to place a pick-up order. I got a "mailbox full message" but it's Friday night so, I'm sure it's busy. When this happens I'll just redial until I get through. After about 10 or so attempts somebody picked up, got halfway through their greeting and hung up. Whatever, mistakes happen, I called back about 10 more times and got through again, but the person immediately asked if I could hold. Sure. No problem. I got my spot in line. I'm happy to wait. But the person only put the phone down so I could hear literally everything happening around the register area. After a few minutes I heard a cashier explaining to a customer that she was sorry and they got the order wrong so they were redoing it. The customer was not happy and asked if they were just refiring it now or have they been refiring it and it will be ready soon? The cashier repeated herself. The customer restated the question. I believe the cashier answered again but I did not hear her answer. The customer unenthusiastically huffed and said, "Alright." This had nothing to do with me but I had been waiting "on hold" for about 6 minutes so. I was listening to the exchange. About a minute or so passes and I hear some kinda ridiculous coughing. Not like a clearing of throat coughing, but a whooping hack of a cough, a number of times. It gave me a little bit of pause, you know the whole pandemic and all, anybody who sniffles is kinda sus. I continue to hold and there's all kinds of banter. English, Spanish, laughing, paper bags rustling, pretty normal noise for a bar restaurant but it sounded like A LOT of different voices. I wasn't there, so that's just conjecture, but again - crowds, pandemic, you get the picture. I put the phone on speaker because it has been 9 minutes on hold now. Two more minutes pass, at the 11th minute the phone hangs up. Grrrrr! UGH!!! I call back 10+ times and finally get through again. The person immediately asks to put me on hold and I said, "I was just on hold for 11 minutes and got hung up on." The lady says, with the attitude of all attitudes, "Well, it's very busy here. I didn't do it on purpose." What!? Ha ha, I wasn't accusing of her of doing it on purpose - it's like my 30th call and I didn't even have a chance to tell her it's the second time I was hung up on. Y'all know how to operate a phone? WTF!? I know what she said doesn't sound egregious, it wasn't really what she said, it was HOW she said it. It was THAT bad, y'all, you have to trust me on this. I know you know what I'm talking about. I just hung up. I could get past the 30 times I had to call. I could get past being hung up on, not once, but twice, it's Friday night and it's busy. I could shrug off the diseased coughing, I mean it's a Mexican joint and they have spicy food, could be a chili pepper caught in somebody's throat. And at this point I'm just trying to make excuses for them because I want the mediocre nachos. I'm trying to cheat on my diet and celebrate the end of another crap week in the midst of a pandemic. I'm literally trying to make excuses for this place so I can fill my fat gullet with some crap food for a little excitement. But what I can't get past is the attitude. That's the killer for me, Mi Jalisco. I don't need that. There's no excuse I can make for you, or SHOULD make for you if that's how you're gonna be. We're all being bopped and bumped around out here, I don't need that from you too. I wasn't even rude to you despite my experience up to that point. I legit hung up and walked right over to the trash can and tossed the menu. That's it. Done. You lost a customer and that's pretty hard to do when the customer was giving you every benefit of every doubt. You own that one. Hope you're proud of yourselves. As for the food.... Look, it's a mediocre strip mall Mexican joint. Nothing special. Nothing to write home about. It's not bad. It's just what you expect. Greasy, cheesy, spicy Mexican food. Certainly not worth being disrespected for. Juanita's in Brookline has far superior Mexican. And they're much friendlier if not a little off the beaten path. Go there. Have better food. This place looks kind of unassuming - but when you talk just about food - We tried this place for the first time tonight - and I have to say - it is simply the best in the area. This was our go to Mexican restaurant but tonight was one of the worst experience we have had at a restaurant. My wife and kids ordered street tacos and there was literally 3 very small pieces of meat on them and a lot of onions and cilantro to hide the amount of meat. I ordered a fajita quesadilla that last week was on a 12" tortilla but tonight they made it on a maybe 8" tortilla with nothing but vegetables and a couple of pieces of meat( supposed to have beef, chicken and shrimp in it). My wife and kids were done with their dinner before mine came out. Beer was warm and there was a couple of sketch dudes smoking pot in the parking lot like it's actually legal. As always, our server was great but service was very slow tonight. After asking for the bill, we waited another 15 minutes before the bill arrived. Maybe a bad night , we will definitely go back eventually but not for a while. read more

I recently stopped in for carryout. The food was good, but payment was an issue. I generally try to pay at small businesses with cash, but in this case the cashier didn't bother telling me they had no coins for change. There were no signs posted to that effect, either. I was shorted about 0.75. The amount is minor, and all they would have had to do was tell me up front and I would have accepted that or paid another way. But to just nonchalantly short the customer is rather rude, and then act put out when I questioned it was even ruder. I doubt I'll be back because of this. read more

I don't think I have ever written a review the minute I was done eating, but I feel compelled to support this little engine that could. We are staying in downtown Manchester right next door to a highly rated Mexican restaurant. Sadly for us, they close at 6pm on Sundays and that was too early for our schedule. But we had already scoured their menu and had a real taste for Mexican food. We saw a few places that had a lot of reviews but relatively uninspired Yelp ratings & we saw this restaurant that had far fewer reviews, but better ratings and by this point, we wanted delivery. We ordered a Jumbo Burrito (shredded chicken) and Enchilada Supreme (1 ground beef, 1 shredded chicken, 1 cheese). We also ordered queso and guacamole salad (thinking if the food was just okay, we could always fill up on chips & dips). We also ordered chips & salsa which was unnecessary because happily, even delivery comes with free chips and salsa. The food came hot and was truly delicious. Even the rice, which is generally just a plate filler, had flavor. And that sums up Mi Jalisco perfectly, every item had some extra little touch --a hint of jalapeño in the queso, a nice amount of cilantro in the salsa, thick sour cream accompanying each dish, shredded chicken that was tasty rather than bland, sturdy, but not too thick chips, I could go on and on. We have been at this place before, when they first opened, it was ok but felt the need to try it again as we thought maybe they had a bad start up . Tonight we went In the bartender was the only one working the guy could not speak any English. We ordered an appetizer then dinner well our dinner came out then the appetizer came out after, even though we told him we did not want it at this point, but he didn't understand us to take it back.
