I've seen this place for quite a while. Tuesday was the most Monday ever. Decided to treat myself to tacos it being Taco Tuesday. I ordered 3 , one of each on special. As well as the loaded fries. My drink was a pineapple mojito. First it was peaceful and not crowded, second immediately greeted and seated. My server was a very nice lady. Engaging and friendly. As far as my order. I would not order the tacos again, the flavor just wasn't there for me. However the surprise hit was the loaded fries. AMAZING. Seriously unexpected and absolutely delicious. I haven't found my favorite taco truck, for my beloved street tacos, yet since moving to the south.... however I'd come back ABSOLUTELY for the loaded fries and friendly service. read more

My family of seven approached the front door. We were told to walk on the brick path to the back building. When we walked around no one was there to sit us. I walked inside to have a waiter tell us to sit outside. There were plenty of tables available. Doubt we will be back. read more

We returned this evening to Mi Mamacita's, with a family group, and realized that it had been awhile since our last visit. Service was friendly and efficient, the surroundings were festive, and we enjoyed ourselves. Our party of five feasted on a range of specialties, including both chicken and beef fajitas, tacos, burritos, etc. Everything was as good as we remembered and we can recommend Mi Mamacita's for good Mexican food at reasonable prices in a bright family-friendly environment. read more

We love Mexican food and we decided to give this place a try. The salsa was blah...had a ketchup taste and no spice. We ordered margaritas....my husband ordered a top shelf margarita (top shelf margarita is made with Jose Cuervo!...this should have been the first red flag) & I ordered a small frozen margarita. My margarita was bad, too sweet for my liking...it was hard for me to finish. My husband's "top shelf" margarita wasn't much better. We ordered guacamole and it was just ok...very bland. We had to add salt and pepper. Absolutely no spice. When you think Mexican food you think spice! I ordered a Mexican pizza with shredded chicken and again it was very bland and no taste. Taco Bell has them beat by far and that's not saying much because I hate Taco Bell. My husband ordered a combo plate with tacos and flautas...bland, bland, bland. We had to drown our food with hot sauce just to get some flavor. Also, jalapeños should be a staple with all Mexican entrees. The only positive experience was our nice waitress and fast service. We paid $80 for 2 people. For what it was, we feel it was overpriced. We won't be back. read more

New Mexico style food is advertised but it tastes just like Mexican to me. This is one of the most popular Mexican food joints on the North Shore and they do have a pretty cool atmosphere. The food seems to be very similar to most other American style Tex-Mex food I've had across the USA but maybe something is different here that makes it "New Mexican style" that I'm missing. The. Best. Salsa!! Really good - not chunky, and not watery, but smooth blended tomatoes and really good roasted pepper flavor. Served with warm chips. Can't get better than that. And it didn't. The Baja Fish Tacos would be so much better with local, fresh fish. This was like muddy catfish or tilapia. Blech! (I'll be asking what kind of fish they use now.) Grilled chicken street tacos - pretty good. Not spectacular, but certainly worth ordering. The rice is decent, standard Mexican rice, creamy refried beans with a bit of green chili. I don't know what "New Mexico" style Mexican food is supposed to be, but I would guess heavy on the green chili. There are a few dishes on the menu with red or green chili, but mostly this appears to be standard Mexican food. Pretty decent Mexican food, too. read more

This restaurant has been a staple of Mandeville's Mexican restaurants for decades and for good reason. Have eaten here dozens of times and always have left satisfied with both the Food and the Margaritas. The food isn't your traditional Tex-Mex as you're going to find more of a New Mexico style cuisine on their menu. They use an Anaheim Pepper for their Chile' Relleno which is a nice change as most other Mexican restaurants that serve this dish, use a Poblano. Order the yellow cheese queso as well with the Wheat chips, you won't be sorry!! read more

Best trio fajitas in Mandeville. I have tried the trio fajitas or similar at all of the Mexican restaurants and no one compares. I love that the restaurant is in an old house; I personally do not care for restaurants in strip malls because they lack exterior personality. I was in the area to do something else and I was getting hungry. I knew that it would soon turn to hanger, which is not a good look for me or anyone. Driving by, this place looked super cute on the outside, so I made a U-turn and parked. The parking lot is gravel, and I'm not sure how that is handled for those using a walker or wheelchair, but there is a ramp to the entrance. I was greeted and seated quickly. There is one unisex restroom. Chips and salsa were quickly delivered. I ordered a sweet tea that was perfectly sweetened. The pulled beef Mexican Pizza was a freaking delight. Being a handicapped person this place is EXTREMELY unsafe. The isn't any handicapped parking and the parking lot is gravel. I fell in the gravel and struggled for 15 minutes with no help. I finally managed to get to my phone so that I could call the rest of my party that was inside for assistance. As for the food I have no idea because I never made it inside. My first time here but not the first time for New Mexican food. Been to NM quite a few times. Their salsa may just be the best I ever had. My daughter ordered the Mexican pizza. She stated it was excellent and if I ever pass by again to definitely pick her up one. I ordered the enchiladas New Mexico style. I chose Christmas which is half green sauce and half red sauce. They were excellent but that green sauce was the best of the two. Didn't care for the rice that came with it. I found it to be dry. The beans were your average beans at any Mexican place. We had a party of eight and when we were given the check we were told that there's a policy of one check, one payment method only. We were unable to split the check eight ways and use separate credit cards. There was no notice of this policy and no one mentioned it at any point. When ordering, two of the party said "we're on the same check" and the server did not indicate that wasn't possible due to our party size. The margaritas were weak and flavorless. The food was barely edible. Needless to say, everyone in our party will be telling friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, social media, and strangers to avoid this restaurant's poor quality food, beverage, and service. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for some time but never caught them open on my schedule until tonight. First of all , it's not a New Mexican restaurant. It's a Mexican style restaurant which serves a couple of vaguely New Mexican style dishes. I tried the New Mexican enchilada and taco plate. Though I ordered mine with both red and green sauce, it came with none. I said no sour cream. It came with a big blob. Those are not the server's fault as he wrote down what I asked for. But as the order was delivered by someone else, he did not see their mistake. Then there was the ground beef taco. Taco Bell makes better and bigger. For dessert, I had sopaipillas. They tasted good though they weren't light and airy as they should be. The chef needs to take classes in authentic New Mexico cooking, preferably by going there in person to learn. If you love New Mexican food, you will be sorely disappointed here. read more

Mi Mamacita's is an interesting place. Located on Florida Street in an old house, the sign promises New Mexican Cuisine. I don't know if that means food from New Mexico or Mexican food done a new way. Either way, the food is good, but the service is even better. We arrived of a Wednesday which happened to be kids eat free day. It was a little more crowded than usual because of that, so we were a bit crammed. Since it is an old house some of the rooms are small and the tables are close together. All of the staff were young, but very attentive and friendly. The chips were hot and fresh and their salsa and queso were very good. I ordered chicken fajitas, which were good, but not great. The chicken was good, but a tad dry. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, but there were two large whole green onions on top, which were hard to eat. If they would have been chopped it may have been easier to eat. If you're looking for a different type of place from the larger Mexican (or new Mexican) food places, Mi Mamacita's is worth a try. read more

The service here is great, but the food is a little overpriced. The tacos I got had barely any chicken on them and were filled with iceberg lettuce. It cost $6 for two Tacobell style tacos. While on my way to the restroom, I noticed that there were at least four rubbermaid size containers filled with chips. That seems a little concerning to me. They filled my husband and stepson's plates with runny refried beans and dry rice. The food looked like it had been stored in the fridge for quite a while. Anyway, if they store chips like that, I can only imagine how they store the rice and beans. Honestly, I really don't want to know how long it sits in the fridge either. The food is unfortunate.
