Was recommended this place to buy my masa for tamales this past holiday season. The masa purchasing was quick and easy, the cashier at the front had it readily available, just have to tell them how much you want and they weigh it out for you then and there. I requested a different type of masa however and that had to be prepared in the back, so I waited about 8 minutes for that to be ready, which was not bad at all. I roamed around the establishment while I waited and was incredibly impressed at the different sections of the store. The bakery was front and center, next to the cashier, and sold pan dulce, decorated cakes, flans and bolillos. Walking towards the back of the store you walk through the produce , on the way to the meat and the prepared foods departments. The entire store was well kept and stocked, my wait time felt like nothing as I was exploring the store. Would recommend if in the area and in need of some fresh groceries. read more

The signature sinaloense cake is a must try I will definitely always recommend this cake for everyone for any occasion honestly. The layers of tres leches, chocoflan, and cheesecake are absolutely insane I still can't figure out how they pull it off . Despite the craziness of the layers , they are still able to decorate the cakes beautifully I am in awe of their presentation. The cake isn't smashed or sunken at all and there is no runniness from the tres leches . The flavors are balanced perfectly not too sweet and not dry or dense at all . Great staff-wonderful selection of pastries, though I didn't get any-will try if in the area again. I went for the tamales. They were the bomb! I got the pork and sweet corn. Both had a very fluffy texture and the pork ones had a good quantity of meat. I shared them with the family and they agreed! $1.75 each and very large. Will come here for my tamales in the future! OMG, they have the BEST tamales . I found this store about 4 months ago and fell in love. And everyone is so nice. I get 2 chicken ( I think is the best ) some salsa from the back of the store where the hot food is. A fresh orange juice ( medium ) go sit in my car and eat them. When I do that it's the best 30 minutes of my day. I went yesterday, I'll be going today and today I'm going to try some tacos from the back. I had a good tasting chicarron burrito. I can't lie the chiccaron is perfection. The texture is crunchy, flavor of the beans and rice along with sauce is amazing. I went in and ordered a small smash cake for my one year old it was perfectly explained to the lady that helped me. I let her know I needed it only for him to take pictures they had a tiny display cake but it was in the shape of a circle I told her I wanted it that size but squared as it is a boxing ring, she said they could do it. When I show up to pick up my "small smash cake" I see this huge cake for about 40 people and all she says is "I mentioned it to the baker but he said he couldn't do it" I needed my cake so I paid and left but why didn't they call me to tell me so I can look elsewhere why couldn't they tell me when I first ordered. My husband and I went all the way to MI Mercadito Super Market in Inglewood on Prairie Avenue because we saw on TV they had a contest where you could win two Super Bowl Tickets if you spend $10. Also, they recently received a $50K grant to stay open, and we wanted to support them. Me and Percy loved the store. He gave congratulations to the two cashiers on the grant and being able to stay open. We spent $25, and I filled out the raffle ticket the cashier gave me for Percy. Leaving the store, Percy noticed the cashier did not put his raffle ticket in the little box behind her like the customer before him. Since I filled out the ticket, I went back to the cashier and said I wanted to check the phone number. SHE COULD NOT FIND OUR RAFFLE TICKET IN THE LITTLE BOX BEHIND HER! It should have been right on top in the little box behind her since only 20 seconds had passed. I'm so glad we noticed she did not turn in the same direction with Percy's raffle ticket. I know she deliberately threw it away, and my husband had the same instinct. I stood there for about five minutes while she searched. Black people know that busted look. She had it. I asked if the contest was honest with Black people. No answer. I asked again and again where is our raffle ticket. No answer. She reprinted our receipt, and gave me another raffle ticket to fill out. So tired of people like her. The whole time she was searching, another employee was watching her. She was not pleased this was happening. After filling out the new raffle ticket, I made the clerk swear on Jesus our raffle ticket would get into the little box behind her this time. But to be sure, we watched her put it in. God is watching also. The store is nice. The other clerk was nice. The cashier Monica, not so much. If you are Black and go to MI Mercadito and spend $10 to enter the raffle, watch out for the clerk named Monica. I love their tamales here. I stumbled upon this place one day when I was looking for tamales for a gathering. They had big, reasonably priced tamales! Lots of filling and the masa is so tasty!! They also have a bakery where you can get pastries and cakes, and towards the back of the market there's a carniceria and a little restaurant! I've had food from the restaurant and it was also tasty! My husband bought some cheese and pork tamales this morning and they were so good! He bought them at 7am on a Saturday morning, so they were especially fresh and piping hot. The masa was perfectly soft and a good ratio to the fillings. The pork filling had a tasty sauce. The cheese had just enough inside with a sliver of jalapeño for a tiny kick. Man, these tamales are goooood. I can't speak on authenticity because I didn't grow up with homemade ones (though I wish I did!). But I eat A LOT and have eaten a good share of tamales all over the place. These are so tasty. A good meat to masa ratio, not too much of one or the either. Eating them plain and hot are so good. Not dry, nice and moist. Condiments not necessary. I've had dry and bland masa. This is not like that! I buy in dozens and pass 'em out to my family, haha. Drop by!
