It's Cinco De Mayo and to our surprise there was a strong aroma of Mexican food in the lobby and to our surprise a MEXICAN FOOD truck parked right outside our apartment complex! My partner and I tried this place for the first time and we loved the food. We ordered a regular huarache and and an order of tacos dorados (comes with 4). The wait time was about 20-30 mins due to the amount of people already waiting for their orders. There was available street parking for it being a busy street. The only thing that was inconvenient is that they don't have their prices up on the truck, so it can be annoying if you're hoping to know how much you're going to spend. Other than that the prices I would leave them up to you to decide if you think they're fair or not due to the quality of the food. Ok I was super hesitant to order from here but it was late and my other option was tacbell so we gave it a shot ordered thru doordash. I ordered birria Ramen that came with a birria taco and I ordered an extra birria taco. I was a bit curious about the Ramen and at $11.99 was maybe expecting some sort of homemade noodles. Well we got a fantastic laugh because it was basically tapitio top ramin which cost $1.50 at the grocery store. Honestly we just laughed and said well you got us...then we opened it up and it had their birria and consume as the broth and filling along with some cheese. There was a big with onions and cilantro and some sauces. The birria tacos were good not sure they were fried in the chili sauce as usuall but still tasty...do add cheese to them and make sure you get the consume. Now back to that ramen...I ain't even mad at the 90% mark up for it because that was some dam good ramen. At 1030pm that was definitely a great choice. Thr birria sauce is thick and kinda absorbs into the noodles and there was a good amount of meat. This is a total comfort food. If back in the area I would definitely order from them again. Food was excellent. I did a search in the area for places that sold shrimp tacos and they were one of the only in the La Brea area near Century. It was 10PM and most places were closed so I rushed over. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla and had grilled onions added. They gave more than enough shrimp and didnt hold back. The shrimp was well seasoned and had its own juices that filled the quesadilla. I also ordered the beef and shrimp birria, which were filled with cheese and the shells were crispy, but not too crispy. Just the way I like it. It was tasty and I highly recommend both of those items. Oh I forgot to tell you-they make the tortillas fresh by hand and to order, so it's extra fresh. The ladies who run it were extra friendly and had great customer service. They were patient as I choose what to order and their attitude was helpful, especially since it was 1030PM. The reason for the delay is because customers (who were likely favorites of the truck owner, also gentrification personified) just walked up, placed an order, and trumped everyone who had already placed an order. The taco was a bit too plane for my taste, seems like it needed a creamy sauce on top but it was good. The quesadilla was huge but they gave me the wrong meat, I got chicken instead, so off the back I wasn't going to enjoy eating it :( I would've given them 4 stars probably if the order was correct. They give you a side or Curtiss with your quesadilla and that was good too. I should have checked my food before I left, but as we were the only customers (that should have been a clue), I figured everything would be okay. WRONG! The birria tacos were slightly dry and we didn't receive any consomme. I didn't take more than 1 bite. The taco dorado was NOT a taco dorado. It was an extremely dry regular taco with an excruciatingly dry shell and overcooked asada. There was no crispy shell or any toppings as described by the cashier. What a waste of money. All the ingredients are very fresh and the food is made to order. This includes the most delicious tortillas I have ever had. They are pressed on site and cooked to perfection. Imelda, the owner is a talented and skilled chef who takes a modern approach to the traditional food. It isn't heavy and you can taste the freshness. The staff were all very friendly, wore gloves and masks and the truck has hand sanitizer, is clean, and easily recognizable by the bright green color. We stumbled upon this truck unsuspectingly while cruising home. The wifey was starving and craving tacos. Funny enough we didn't leave here with tacos, but rather a spread of other delicious Mexican creations. The price points would seem high were it not for the fact that the portions are quite large. Even the quesadilla was a behemoth. I loved the huarache which I would compare to a pupusa except it's larger, oblong, filled with pinto beans, and made with a denser masa dough. The chorizo on top really made it! We also tried the birria ramen which was good, don't get me wrong, but it's an inventive fusion that may not work for some. They give you big portions , I've never gotten full off one taco but here they get the job done!
