Excellent food with generous portions. I had a chicken taco and a chicken enchilada. Both were packed with large pieces of chicken. My wife has a tostada that was huge. My Dish also included beans and rice. The standard chips and salsa accompanied our meals. We would definitely return. read more

I only ordered takeout because I wanted to head back up to MVNP but the fajitas hit the spot. It came with a bag of chips and fresh salsa, all of which were nice. I'd give the food a 4.5, only because I've had better salsa but the service sets them apart. Food was ready quick and everyone was friendly and attentive, just for takeout. I'm sure the dine-in experience would be out of this world. Definitely check them out if you are in town for a good and quick alternative to the fast-food joints. It also looks like they may be adding a patio area in the future or at least expanding, great to see a small business with good food growing! If I pass through Cortez again, I'll definitely stop back in. read more

We ate at Mi Mexico twice during our all too short stay in Cortez and... as I was stuck eating tasteless Mexican food today at a chain restaurant in Denver, I reminisced about our delicious meals here and wishing for another visit. We tried their Chile Verde (so good my son had it twice), the Chili Colorado burrito (again so good that it appeared at both meals), delicious bacon wrapped shrimp, tacos al pastor, mixed fajitas and the Mi Mexico enchiladas. In every case the protein of choice was well seasoned and deliciously cooked and abundant. Great house margaritas and cervezas on tap, and a nice patio accompanied by good service. A real win in my book! read more

A new Mexican restaurant has opened in Cortez. CO. Mi Mexico serves fantastic food that is fresh, tasty and that is competitively priced. Our new favorite are the fajitas both chicken and shrimp are outstanding. Pictures are posted of the dishes. The shrimp fajitas come with a generous portion of sauteed onions, bell pepper, onions and mushrooms still sizzling on the hot plate when served. Beans, rice, pico de gallo, lettuce, and sour cream along with your choice of flour or corn tortillas make the dish complete. The fajitas are soooo good we have yet to try many other dishes but those we have tasted are fantastic as well. And there are chips, salsa, and a side of what the owner calls Salsa Mexicana which is cabbage based and excellent. We normally pass on the cabbage appetizer but this one makes us want more and more. We are regulars at all the Mexican food restaurants in the area but now this one tops our list. read more

Chips were stale, Lunch menu is unavailable on weekends so a lunch entree is 15.00 not even big portions. Much better Mexican food in town try Le casita de Cortez. Better food, service and prices. Tried to improve the flavor with the salsa from the chips but it could only go so far. Employees were much more interested in playing with the bottles of Cerveza in the fridge than checking on tables. read more

It's great Mexican Restaurant. It's next door to the campground we're staying. The neighbors recommend this restaurant, and so glad they did. We started off with a margarita on the rocks, yum! We ordered the beef and shrimp fajitas for two, and it was a hit. Our husbands had to have a taste too. Plan on returning in the next day or two. We are here for only four days. They have moved to Main Street. All servers but one were wearing face masks. When I asked server to use face mask he laughed. I mentioned this to mgr. Next time I came in he was wearing a face mask covering only his chin. Food was average Mexican/American. read more

We decided to try Mi Mexico based on the recommendation of the owner at the Tomahawk Lodge where we were staying after a few days of camping (and eating backpacking food), and we are SO glad we did! The service was super-friendly, attentive and quick, and the atmosphere was fun! First came the chips and salsa. The chips were okay, pretty standard, but the salsa was great! It was definitely spicy (a little too spicy for my husband) but I loved it, and we both agreed it had great flavor! The margaritas were tasty- in fact, they were so tasty that at first we assumed they were weak because we couldn't taste the tequila. But halfway through the first round we realized- wow, these are actually pretty strong! After the second, we were definitely glad that we had walked there! Then there was the food. I had the Mi Mexico enchiladas with carne asada, and my husband had carnitas tacos. He said it was the best carnitas he had ever had, and I felt the same way about the carne asada! The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The enchilada sauce was relatively mild but in this case, I found that to be a good thing because the flavor of the meat carried the meal fantastically! If we're ever in the Cortez area again, we definitely plan to come back here. Can't recommend it enough! read more

We were seated and given our basket of chips and that was the last we saw of our server. Everyone who was seated after us were waited on. We never got acknowledged. After 15 minutes of waiting for someone to come to our table we walked out. We even tried to get someone's attention but they just passed us by. They were not even that busy. We will not be going back. We were not please by their poor customer service. I'd give them no stars but it would not let me. Very disappointed for this town to have such poor service. read more

Fresh, huge portions, great quality! I must say this place impressed me. Salsa first came out and was very hot (I'm a baby with slice) waiter noticed and made me a mild version that was sooooo good! I love the 2 red chips in the basket btw. Asked for a suggestion and she said if you like seafood go for the Burro Acapulco. It had shrimp and scallops and butter! And this amazing white sauce. The plate came and the plate is as big as a 12in pizza with rice and beans that where pretty run if the mill but this burrito was amazing!! Next time I'm in town I will be coming back! read more

Delicioso!!!! My husband and I shared the shrimp fajitas and also shared the cocktail shrimp for appetizer! Everything was so fresh and delicious!! The cocktail shrimp was different than anything we had had before, but we were not disappointed!! I do tend to like less salt than a lot of folks, so your experience may vary, or maybe someone got a little overzealous with one batch of ground meat, but it was just too much for my taste. We drove into town late one night, and we were pleasantly surprised by the friendly service, fun atmosphere and authentic, tasty dishes! We ordered enchiladas Mexico and the shrimp de Mexico. Kid ordered chicken fingers. Everything was wonderful. My daughter said, "The rice and beans were the best she has ever had!" My dad and i went to Mi Mexico for lunch and it was pretty good, but not great. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. It was a great portion size, i ate most of it and felt satisfied but not over full and i didn't feel like i was wasting food. It tasted really good overall, but the chicken was a bit off. My dad ordered enchiladas with mole sauce, and he said it was pretty good but the mole sauce was a little sweeter than he would've liked. We ordered churros after our meal and they were mediocre. we didn't finish them. Pretty good price, clean establishment, fast service, and friendly staff. Not sure if I would go here again, and if i did i would probably order something different read more
