It's pretty inside and I had high hopes, but as soon as I sat down at the bar I was ignored for 7 minutes. No one greeted me or even acknowledged me, yet I stayed, hopeful. I didn't expect the service to be as bad as it was. After I finally ordered a drink, I was yet again hopeful this would get better. But I was half way thru my drink and decided to leave when the server finally apologized and took my order. I decided to take it to go cause I just needed to get out of here! I went to Mi Mexico with some friends while in Lexington for a work conference and we had a good time with some amazing food! Every one of us loooved our food and couldn't believe how cheap it was! Like most Mexican restaurants, you get free chips and salsa, and the chips weren't too salty or greasy. The salsa was super good, and pretty spicy which I liked. I also ordered a side of guacamole and it was way better than Chipotle! (Duh) I loved that the menu included about 6 solely vegetarian options, because it can be annoying to go out to eat and have to eat the same salads over and over. The waitress wasn't the nicest, but she only came by when she had to, so it wasn't a big deal. However, she did leave a water pitcher for me without my asking because I go through water like that. It's nicely decorated inside. We were seated right away, and got chips and salsa. Drinks were meh... they only have pepsi products so I ordered sweet tea, and it was sweet enough to set my teeth on edge. The waiter's English was atrocious, but he seemed to get our orders correct. The beans and rice were really good, but the beef enchiladas were dry. bland, and not very meaty. There seems to be a cheese shortage there, as there were maybe six shreds of cheese on the whole meal. Disappointing, but I may give it one more try, and order something different. read more

Bottom Line: If you're feeling too tired to open and warm up a can of Old El Paso, this place will be happy to do it for you. Detail: I liked the theme park Mexican look of the place, but only because I like theme parks. It's usually a sign of bad food inside, and I knew that, but it was close, and we were in a hurry. I also knew it's a sign the food will come really fast. They don't have Mexican drinks like horchata, tamarindo, etc., nor Mexican Coke or Fanta, just Jarritos, Pepsi products, and fountain tea. Another bad sign. I ordered mole poblano, my wife ordered chilaquiles. The food came really fast. The mole poblano was grocery store stuff, probably Dona Maria, thinned with water instead of broth. Chicken was boiled breast meat, no seasoning. Beans from a can and rice were on the side. The mole came with some surprisingly bad-tasting flour tortillas. I asked for corn instead, and was surprised they had them. I wound up eating about a third of my dinner. Just utterly tasteless. My wife's chilaquiles were covered in a sauce also from a can and came with the same canned beans and rice. I'm completely serious about the canned food comments, by the way. I'm not saying, "Dude, that totally sucked, might as well have come from a can!!' I'm saying, "It came from a can." If you like that sort of thing and want to get in and out quickly, this is your place. If you're a fan of real Mexican food, please note that none of the people who like this place on Yelp are Latino. I still like the theme park décor, though. Someone should buy this place and turn it into a Mexican restaurant. read more

Ordered 2 chicken enchilada dinners during Covid19 curbside only, said chicken 3 times over and she asked twice, get home to ground beef when I was ONLY customer in parking lot, called back to them ignoring my number but IMMEDIATELY answering when I called from another number, and then I'm the b*^ch for asking that they refund more than my order at least tip too. I will never ever ever eat here again with the pathetic response and RUDE women. Always a good choice for family friendly Mexican food. The Nachos Suprema is amazing (tip: sub rice for beans - yum!) and their margaritas never disappoint. Really good lunch spot too, in and out fairly quickly. The chicken in the Cancun is spot on delicious! My bf always orders the Grande Burrito with ground sirloin and cheese sauce with no complaints. This is our go-to spot to get our Mexican fix. Portions are generous and prices are exactly where they should be:) read more

Pretty good Mexican fare. The chips were warm and the salsa was good, with just enough heat and cilantro to keep it interesting. The Tacos Carne Asada were very good. They were well seasoned and the portion was large enough that I couldn't finish the whole plate. Ask your waiter for a side of spicy mole sauce, it's very good on the tacos. The food is as good as most Mexican places and maybe a little better. Here steak tacos are a large portion and the steak is seasoned really good. Mi Mexico is on my top favorite Mexican restaurants in Lexington. I typically base my favorite Mexican restaurants off of their salsa and Mi Mexico has some of the best! It has a great flavor with chunks of onion and tomatoes in with with a hint of cilantro. Definitely a must have when you have a salsa craving!! :) read more

I went with some co-workers on Wednesday night. We wanted Mexican and this small restaurant chain has a good reputation in Lexington. This place has some tasty Mexican food. No complaints here. The menu has so many choices that it would be hard for someone not to find something that they would look forward to eating. The service was fast, friendly and good. The Margarita's come in 4 sizes (I had the Jumbo). The chips are hot and the salsa spicy. I ordered the enchiladas. They were delicious. The plate looked a little sloppy when it came out but it is Mexican food - but really - why do they put shredded lettuce on top of the enchiladas - shouldn't it be on under the food - who knows. For Mexican food, we always head to this place. They have a great atmosphere, great service, friendly staff, and of course delicious, fresh food. I usually get the fajitas and think every time I'm going to try something else, then the server walks by with some for another table and I'm hooked. The kids get chimichunga's, enchiladas, chulupas and taco's and rave about how great they are. Fresh, and hot, you'll not go wrong with a meal here. read more

The burrito was ok it seems that they want to smother everything with cheese which can actually steal from the flavor of the dish. The food is good every time I come here. The restaurant always looks clean. The problem? Service. It's slowwwww. Slow to the extreme. This isn't somewhere you can go for lunch and get out in a reasonable amount of time. If I didn't like the food so much I wouldn't come here. We were coming home from TN and passing through Lexington and decided to eat at Mi Mexico. All was well when we entered not many people eating. First impression concerns. More workers than patrons but that soon changed and our waitron became scarce. So much in fact we had to ask others for their help in getting drinks, chips and salsa. Come to find out she was also working the bar in another room. Overall our food was plentiful when it finally arrived. It was very good and we had a variety at our table from burritos to chicken and fajitas. Margaritas were ok. Ask for top shelf tequila. This experience was just ok. For sure had better food and for sure had better wait staff. Next time we will research a bit more. If I'm given an option I would pass on Mi Mexico. read more

The one near me became Pepe's and the food is somewhat worse than it was but not inedible. Very tasty food, great service, and very fair pricing. I got the Acapulco Fajita. A good amount of fish, shrimp, and scallops, and plenty of peppers, onions, and pineapples. I went to Mi Mexico with my book club ladies tonight. They have a huge patio that gets shade at dinner time. We sat indoors at a table for 12! Two-for-one margaritas were popular! I got a frozen daiquiri-- they came in many different fruity flavors. The menu had a lot of seafood options, which I loved! Difficult to find at other Mexican restaurants in town, so that was a nice surprise! Salmon, shrimp quesadillas, ceviche and more! I love this place! I have been coming here since I was a kid, and it hasnt changed a bit. The chips and salsa is great I would reccomend adding the queso for the chips.
