This place has amazing food and amazing service to the guests. I go there often to eat lunch or dinner and each and every time my expectations are met. My favorite thing to order is the beef burrito. The pupusas are also really good and I've been told by many Salvadorean Friends that they are extremely authentic. The service is fast and attentive and I have had no issue as of this day. Parking is a bit hard to find occasionally, there is street parking, and on-site parking (limited) but after 5 p.m. you can park in the school parking lot nearby. Overall great place. read more

Mi Pueblito is a great family restaurant. Good food, good drinks and good music from a jukebox and friendly staff! The place is a little small and can feel a little cramped during weekends during lunch but you can always wait for 10min and guaranteed you'd get a table. Weekdays, its mid full. You will see lots of hispanos/latinos, I know it can be overwhelming, but don't panic. That just means, its 100% approved!!! (It's basically like walking into an authentic asian restaurant like a Dim Sum or Korean place, if you don't see asian customers sitting down and eating, would you feel confident of eating there?! We visited this place hoping to get good salvadorian food, the chips and salsa were good. Also the juice of Maranon. For the rest of the food I got to say that I'm was disappointed, I made the mistake to order two tacos of lengua, I'm from los Angeles, Ca and fortunately im super spoiled with amazing Mexican food, the tacos that I ordered here were disgusting, I just need to know who told the chef (if there's any) that you have to fry the lengua????? Come on!!!! You just killed the dish right there ( in a bad way) one more thing, we ordered pupusas to go, (not knowing that they were going to taste horrible) seriously the owner need to do something about, the over charge for the food, the pupusas are mediocre, super skinny and dry. Ordered desayuno mi pueblito and asked for scrambled eggs with cheese. They brought me eggs with peppers and tomato. When I told them this is not what I'd ordered, they tried to blame me and said I hadn't read the menu correctly, which was not the case (I am a native Spanish speaker and I am fluent in English as well). They brought me back what looked like cheese featuring eggs. It was a greasy hot mess. Sent it back since I didn't order scrambled cheese, and they told me they would not fix it again, since it had already been fixed once. That's when the manager got involved (although he never spoke to me directly, just about us apparently as I could hear them from where we were sitting). So context: I am 100% Salvi and grew up in Los Angeles (i.e. The US Mecca of great Salvi and Mexican food). I gave up long ago on finding good Mexican or Salvi food in Boston, but every now and then I'll humor someone's recommendation and try a new place. We were seated right away and placed our orders within 5 minutes. However the food took FOREVER to get to our table. Food that normally takes 10 minutes at any other place took over half an hour. At the very least, they could have brought the pupusas out first. It was obvious they had been ready since they were no longer hot when we got them. The fajitas (we got the two person chicken, carne asada, and shrimp combo) were soooo bland. Most of it was overcooked and not seasoned well. I couldn't believe how bad this place was. So, I don't get it. Did I go in on an off day? Why do people love this place so much. The place was full by the time we left so they definitely get a lot of business. The horchata was not great either, but I do tend to be an horchata snob. Chips clearly not fresh and salsa pretty bland. Also, the people raving about FREE chips and salsa as if its something to celebrate must be new to this since that is the default at legit Mexican places (vs Americanized places that charge you for it). The horchata and pupusas at La Hacienda are better, still not California quality, but better than what we got here. Also, some shrieking kid did not help the ambiance (and I mean at the top of his lungs shrieking). Wish my mom had been there to show them 1) how to cook 2) how to discipline kids properly. Had a DJ gig last night. After my set I went hard for the rest of the night. I woke up in east boston and needed something to eat. For this place off because it had great reviews. My food was great. I got steak and shrimp. The shrimp was small and I only got three. The steak was a cheap cut but was cooked very well. The plantains were amazing. Next time I come I would get something different. The food has great flavor. The look of the place is ok. They have two nice TVs with Spanish shows and sports. Spanish music might be blasted. Overall I will be back. read more

I ate here several months ago and I'm still dreaming of their pupusas. They are DELICIOUS. We got the cheese and pork pupusas and they honestly blew my mind; I had always thought of pupusas as super cornmealy (mostly judging from photos) but these consisted of more cheese than cornmeal. Mmm. Everything else was great as well. The quesadillas came with onions and mushrooms inside as well as cheese and meat. I can't really remember what my friends got but they were not disappointed. And the prices are really good for the sheer amount of deliciousness in store. I'm planning on going back as soon as possible! read more

I've heard so many good things about this place and was impressed at what it had to offer. The nachos may been the best nachos I have ever had. Normally nachos have all the ingredients thrown on them and people at the table/party are trying to get them all on the chip they chose well not here. They actually make each chip with all the ingredients and you can just pick one and pop it in your mouth! AMAZING!!! I also order a carne asade and chicken taco and they were both good, maybe a little more seasoning but still good. OMG! The food here is divine! The chefs do Latin American food justice. I have been here a couple of times now and will keep coming back. Both of the times I got something with steak and the steak was cooked perfectly! Juicy and with the right amount of char. :) Very delicious! The service was good and friendly on both occasions. Also, this place gets packed quickly and there was a line when we came by. That's a sign of good food. :) Definitely one of the best Latin American restaurants I have been to. Since when are tips a mandatory 18% of the bill?this is a new for me, I didn't think that my service was great and my bill was grater than a hundred dollars because they increase all their prices by a lot! and then the bill comes with a mandatory 18% of the bill, they should put in the bill mandatory service charge and not call it a tip because when I think of a tip for me is an indicator of what I'm willing to give someone is not a mandatory $20.00 or $40.00 charge. read more

OK, I'm very biased because I live fairly close to this hidden gem and visit all the time. But I mean, if it isn't good I wouldn't visit it all the time right? Glad I talked that out. This place is a charmer. It is quite small and intimate and makes you question why you never took advantage of those Spanish courses in high school. Very authentic to say the least and the menu is exquisite with tons of offerings. My go to used to be the shrimp fajitas (before I developed an allergy) and now I get their vegetarian burritos which hit the spot. They are stuffed with fresh, homemade ingredients and I must say keep my taste bud(die)s very pleased. They also have a large variety of drinks - I always get a virgin pina colada. Oh, and I am a big fan of their chips and salsa. I always ask for seconds and they are always happy to serve. Super friendly staff and owner. Great ambiance. Highly recommend! read more

I got a whole grilled tilapia in a tomato & onion sauce that was great. The accompanying rice, beans, & chips + salsa were also great. The portion was so big, I took it to go for work later & got full off my leftovers. Those chips were great: crisp & bold. Definitely some solid chips. The tilapia was a little dry, but the tomato sauce was really good. Their micheladas are also delicious, but how can you really mess up a michelada? My wife and I are regulars at Mi Pueblito! The tacos are awesome and they have some of the biggest margaritas and they don't skimp on the alcohol ! It's a favorite of ours and we go here whenever we are craving tacos ! I've tried their quesadilla and nachos as well and those are good. The food was so good, came out warm. The melon juice was freshly juiced and a great thing to have with anything. We ordered 2 drinks and both of them were strong and tasty. The servers know both English and Spanish but also they can help you understand what each thing is. The veggies were so fresh, not like they were preped it days before but like they just cut them. I ordered enchiladas and they weren't spicy but really mouth watering came with guac, sour cream, lettuce and pico de Gallo, rice and bean everything was warm and good, i couldn't leave a bite behind. One of my all time favorites, why bother flying south when you can do a reverse 'Bridge-Tunnel' and wind up East of the Border. The place REEKS of authenticity, El Salvadorian is the flavor and it helps if you speak Spanish since most of the eye-candy wait staff is undocumented and under-dressed. On any given Sunday, at lunch time, you can see 4 generations of family at one large table, and not one of them over 65, its a very friendly place Winners --Marinated Tounge Tacos ( only gripe, they raise the price 50 cents, so now they are a whopping $2 each) ask for them with cheese and guac, makes 'em even yummier, its thats possible --Chicharrones con Yuca - divine deep fried pork bellies with deep fried yuca, think bacon and french fries. --The daily Specials, check em out, especially the seafood soups --Your wallet, it is IMPOSSIBLE to spend more than $10 on food here if you go with the tacos and papusas, (cornmeal patty stuffed with cheese, chix or beef and then pan fried) they also do fresh tamales on weekends, 3 tacos will completely fill you up, since chips and salsa are complimentary, the most expensive dish is not more than $12, so if you are on a budget, (or just a cheap, stingy bastard) this is the place! Losers -- The two stuffed goats they used to have hanging at each side of the entrance, nothing says 'what would you like to eat today' better than a flea bitten goat head on the wall, but hey, it ain't Chipolte Grill! When I had a friend who lived in East Boston for a year, I could never get him to take me to Santarpios, but he did take me here one day. And now I'm indebted to him for helping me find my favorite mexican food in Boston. The place is tucked on a sort of industrial side street of East Boston, but there are always enough families around the neighborhood to make you feel safe. Mi Pueblito, however, doesn't seem to be serving families, rather its small groups of mainly immigrant men who are in the U.S. working without their families. (If you are not Mexican or Salvardorian, you will absolutely be in the minority here. If you are a woman, you will also be in the minority here. But I've been treated well the times I've been in, as have the ladies I've been with.) Along with the beer selection (Modelo, Corona, Pilesner, and another Salvardoran I don't remember) and the Univision on two Big Screens, you get the feeling of an authentic neighborhood. Service starts with fresh tortilla chips and red and green salsas. Yum. The Papusa appetizers are awesome. So are the dinners. I especially recommend the chicken enchiladas, which come in a superbly tasty sauce. My friend who brought me here swears by the Carne Asada. On the platters, you get the usual sides of Mexican rice and beans, as well as some lettuce, pico, sour cream, and guacamole. And the portions are huge! Despite everything tasting so good, I have never been able to finish my meal here. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food. If this place was in Cambridge, Somerville, or Allston/Brighton, there would be lines out the door every night ... but then Mi Pueblito wouldn't be serving its neighborhood, would it? If you want really tasty Mexican and Salvadorian food, you'll need to make the trek to Eastie yourself! read more

Holy burrito! I am in love with these so very delicious burritos. Here's a hint people- when you walk in the door and the waitress doesn't speak any English, you stay. You stay and you eat. Or you could take it to go, whatever, you get my point. Closer to Salvadoran or even Guatemalan than Mexican, but delicious. This is real Central American cuisine and it is all made fresh. My burrito was in a perfect tortilla and bursting with tasty grilled beef, tomatoes, beans, cheese, rice, sour cream and guac. It was delicious and only $6.99. And it is bringing me back. read more

Mi Pueblito did not disappoint. I didn't even know it existed in Eastie. It's all the way on the other side of town, kind of in its own area away from other restaurants. We went for dinner. We were quickly seated. The waitress quickly brought over chips and salsa. The green salsa was great-like a creamed guacamole. The red salsa was ok, but slightly watery. The menu was huge. I couldn't believe the prices. Most dinners were between $10-$14. They have a beer and wine selection. I went with a sangria. It came out in a bottle sans alcohol, I meant to get the house version, I think it was my fault when I misunderstood the waitress explaining the two. Next time I'll ask for the house. I decided on the Camarones (shrimp). My boyfriend got the Churrasca (steak). The dinners came out very quickly. They were both on very large plates. I couldn't believe how much food was given. On the side was a salad with an avocado. There were jalapenos and various veggies to use too. I thought mine was very good. The sauce it was cooked in was great, almost like an Asian oyster sauce. My boyfriends steak was enormous. It even came with a grilled sausage on the plate. After a few bites he claimed we would need to come back soon. The atmosphere was busy. There were large families eating at tables, kids walking around, loud music playing, and 2 large flat screens. Don't expect a quiet dinner. Service was friendly but could of been faster towards the end when it got busy ad we needed out check. I plan to try the supreme burrito next time based off of some of the reviews here. read more

So are the plantains, the tacos, the salsa, the pico de gallo, the tortillas and the guacamole. Well, this is what *I* had. Seriously, I was hungry, and left so stuffed that I am still not hungry right now and it's noon the next day. The restaurant itself is unassuming, but it's a local place, with local Salvadorians eating there, which is always a good sign. The service is friendly and prompt and always with a smile. The day has yet to come where I will be disappointed in this restaurant and I have gone there regularly for 2 years now. The food is fresh and delicious. The salsa is to die for. Fajitas, quesadillas, you name it, absolutely wonderful. Choices of wine are red or white, so don't expect a wine card or so, but they have a good selection of beers. The service is always friendly and you will just have to figure it out with the Spanish/English mix, but it's not a problem really. The menu is in Spanish and English and the waiteresses are always so patient and nice. Side story: This summer I walked by with my aunt from Germany, my dog and two friends. I explained to my aunt that we cannot go inside because of the dog but we can get takeout. ....Mi Pueblito ended up moving a table for four onto the sidewalk so we could enjoy our dinner outside. I have been coming to this place for a few years now, and I have tried many items on the menu and I have never been disappointed. I love the salsa that is served with the chips, you could drink it it's so good! Nachos - Awesome! Not a naked chip on the plate! Burritos - Great! Nice balance of all ingredients. Pupusas - Have only tried the pork pupusas and I love them so much that I've yet to move on to a new variety. Quesadillas - I have tried the chicken, beef, chicken and beef, and shrimp. All are delicious and I love that they have mushrooms in their quesadillas. Chilaquiles - I recently tried the chicken and it was really good. Salmon - For a healthier option, they have a grilled salmon with steamed veggies (carrots, cauliflower, broccoli). It is so good, you need only squeeze some fresh lime and sprinkle a little pepper, and you are good to go! These are just a few of the things I've had there that I can think of right now. The burrito supremo is the best I've ever had. That's right. The BEST I've EVER had. Unlike so many burritos in the U.S., this one is not overloaded with beans, rice, or cheese. And the heat seems evenly distributed so that you aren't biting through cold veggies and then hot steak. Everything seems melded together perfectly, and the result is so flavorful. They serve it with a small cup of hot sauce. You can either dunk a corner of the burrito into the sauce, or you can just keep pouring it on after each bite. I wish I could review other things on the menu, but the burrito is so good, and such a good value, that I've never ordered anything else. Get it with a beer (served in a frosty mug) or sangria. Mi Pueblito is actually in East Boston. It's a small Mexican & Salvadorean reastaurant and it's really good. There are two tv's, one showing sports, one showing telenovelas. The food is delicious. The salsa is spicy. I had the chicken flautas (admittedly, a little dry), but the flavor was excellent. My dad loved his chicken burrito and my sister liked her pollo asado. The entrees come with rice & beans that are tasty & flavorful. Prices are reasonable and similar to other, not as good Mexican restaurants. The service was good and our waitress was extremely friendly. There's a jukebox with flashing lights in the corner that play everything from new reggaeton to mariachi. Mi Pueblito is definately a hidden jewel. Also, after you are seated, be sure to check for the armadillo. He's real cute. read more

i've made the hike to Mi Pueblito from the Maverick T station a couple times now, and it's so, so worth it. It can, however, be an interesting walk. This last time, i'd convinced a nice girl that there was delicious Mexican food to be had in East Boston and that this one place, despite being a longish walk was the best of them all. So we're crossing a tiny side street, and about to step off the sidewalk by a convenience store, when what appeared to be a friendly discussion between people in front of it became a not-so-friendly altercation. One man shoves another, who tumbles backwards, directly into the nice girl, who nearly stays upright, but ultimately the shov-ee steps on her foot and tips her over. They say nothing and walk away, i say "what the hell?" but we keep going just to get the heck out. So anyway, she's got a scraped up hand and foot, i'm feeling like a total jerk for letting that happen and we still don't have any food. Thank goodness that Mi Pueblito is that darned amazing. Both times i've probably been the only one there who they had to speak English to, but it doesn't trouble them in the least. They're politely patient with interlopers who wander in, and considering the place is full of families out for a good meal, that's as good an endorsement as i need. They have a good selection of appropriate beers (read: something other than Corona), and apparently the sangria is good enough to make you forget about your foot bleeding. Then there's the food. The first time, i had the chilaquiles and they were the most amazing invention i'd ever heard of. Why bother with noodles or rice when you can fry up tortilla chips and slather them in a tasty sauce? Also, there's rice. And chicken. So, so good. The second time, i had the flautas which were no less impressive.
