It's been three years since I have been back. The staff here is fantastic. They hustle and served our large party very well. I am still not a fan of the food. The chips are thick, oily and hard-crunchy. My steak quesadillas wasn't what I expected in a quesadilla. It was more open faced like a taco. There was lots of steak and very little cheese. I have been here many times and the place is always good. They have plenty of parking and plenty of tables. They have a full bar. The margaritas are very tasty. Service is always good because we ask for the same server every time. There are plenty of food options for everyone. Spicy. Not spicy. Mild. Not mild. However you want your food they will make it. Went in hungry, I Left hungry, I ordered the steak burrito. The portion of steak was sad really. Service was just OK. The waiter did comp my food to try to make it right tho. The Ambiance was dated like walking back into the 80s they need to update and give more meat portions for the charged price. Travelers beware! Food was terrible. Passing through on our way home, saw a good amount of cars, and thought why not. The food. That's why not. We should've known from the stale chips, but thought maybe we just got a bad batch. Food was horribly bland, like no amount of hot sauce, salsa, and guac fixed it-because they were also bland. A bunch of recurring locals come here, so I'm not sure if there are no other sit down options in town or what because this isn't it. My husband and I literally left nauseous-and not from overeating. I would save your money. We just spent $40 to be sick and the stomach flu does it for free. McDonald's would've been a way better use of funds. I used to love this place about ten years back and maybe that was the last time I ate there till today I decided to stop by for lunch since me and my son were coming through the area. It was lunch time, service was great, margarita was great! Food not so much I don't care for the chips and salsa anymore I thought they used to be good but they must of changed. The rice and beans were good, I had the steak fajitas and it was over loaded with veggies and very little meat. My son had the same thing and he didn't like the chips and salsa and they messed up his steak fajitas, he wanted no veggies and just steak and his came the same as mine with all veggies, he didn't want to ask for it to be remade he was ready to eat, so he picked out all the veggies and literally had like 5 pieces of steak, it was all veggies! We both said it was ok like other reviews, would I go back? Tbh I'd rather not, food was ok but for lunch coming out to 72 dollars with food and one margarita and a coke for my son I just can't go back for that price just because the food was ok, it's gotta be better than that. This was a tough one review wise. Service was good (5 stars). I read a few reviews regarding one menu per table - maybe was a pandemic cleaning issue - we had one for each person in our group. Portion size was decent to good (4 stars). Took home half, others at table did not have leftovers - not because were big eaters. Price was average to a bit high for area (4 stars) I just was not wowed by the food - it was okay. Not stellar, not bad. Authentic? No, not really. Average American Mex food - and that isn't a bad thing, I just had higher expectations. Chips were cold - was fine but usually most places have them fresh and warm. Decor was lacking (at best 2 stars, really, I'd say 1 star) - Cocula restaurant in Cal City is a perfect example of solid 5 star decor - this place missed the decorating boat in my opinion. I wanted badly to say 5 stars but really, kind of mediocre. Would I go again? If someone else wanted to, yes Of my own choice, no. We ordered Mi Ranchito to go and this is by far the best Mexican food and service in Indiana. The chips and salsa are phenomenal. The chicken botanita topatia with green sauce is the best item on the menu it is so good! They also have the best fried ice cream. The service was fast especially for a to go order food was hot when we got home. The ambiance is great for dining in. The food wasn't great if I'm honest. Have heard from multiple locals that this is the spot for Mexican food. I got the mole enchiladas and the sauce was oddly similar to bbq and not what I'm used to with that sauce from other restaurants. My wife said her food was ok, and the nachos were definitely not what we expected (split between the kids and they barely touched their food). Wow, I have never disagreed with a yelp community so much in any one review. It was hands-down the absolute worst chips & salsa I have ever had. The chips were so hard it made my teeth hurt. The salsa came out ice cold and lacked flavor. On top of that, they want to charge you an extra dollar each time you get a refill on chips and salsa, but I'm guessing that's not a problem they have to deal with much because they were horrible. I would have given it one star but the server was nice, friendly and helpful. Portions were quitesmall for the price in the Mexican food itself was maybe average. I'm completely confused with multiple five star reviews here as honestly, this was probably in my bottom five all time of Mexican restaurants I've eaten across the country in. The Margaritas are good. The food was not so great. I get nachos or fajitas nearly every time I go to a Mexican restaurant and I despise when they use shredded cheese over queso on nachos. They taste cheap and awful. It's also annoying when the nachos were ordered specific with queso cheese and they come out with the shredded kind and you don't find out until you get home since it was ordered to go.
