Last night was of many visits to one of Petersburg's oldest and best restaurants. We love the Brickhouse Run located on the cobblestone paved Cockade Alley in Old Town Petersburg. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The first thing you see when you arrive is the bustling English style pub area that features a large assortment of craft brews and a fully stocked bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The team at Brickhouse will make you feel welcome shortly after you arrive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is seating in the pub area, but for a more intimate dining experience, I recommend seating in the cozy dining area just a step down from the pub.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Personalized service homemade soups, delicious apps and entrees featuring fresh vegetables, are some of the things you can count on here. I highly recommend Brickhouse. You will not be disappointed!

Brickhouse Run you never disappoint me. For starters we got the Brie bacon cheesecake and it was phenomenal! The crispy bacon bits with the hot maple sauce, hell yeah! I got the rockfish on special and it was perfect, what a shocker. The fish was cooked to perfection and was flavortown if I do say so myself. My husband got the steak frites and he says it was awesome too. I know his fries were since I snagged a few. For dessert he got a chocolate mug, kinda like mousse. I got the passionfruit tart with blackberry sauce and holy crap I could eat 10. It was tart and sweet but not overly sweet and tasted very fresh. The staff is always amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place really feels like home. It's cozy and comforting. A great date night spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love you brickhouse

I hate to say that I am on the fence about this place. It is my best friend's favorite restaurant, so I really wanted to love it, but I just don't think I do. For starters, this place is in downtown Petersburg. The gps location on google is wrong, so definitely make sure you know where you are going before you deal with all the tiny roads in this downtown section of town. Some of the roads are barely passable, and DEFINITELY set your gps to the free public parking across the street because you do NOT want to drive down the cobblestone road directly at the front door. We could barely walk on it, I definitely would not try to drive on it. But none of that is the fault of the restaurant, so no stars deducted for that. It's just an observation. We arrived about 15 minutes to their opening time, around 4:45, which is good because they only take reservations for parties of 6 or more, they only have a couple of tables, they are only open for dinner a few days a week, and they fill up FAST. We were the second group to be seated after a couple of local regulars so we got seated in the good section downstairs. It is the good section because once you are upstairs, that is where all the people waiting to be seated have to wait. And I would say that it is kind of awkward because the people waiting just sort of stare the whole time like "are they almost done? Will we get a table soon?" [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is borderline uncomfortable having people watch you eat and then I felt guilty about wanting to order coffee and dessert on my once-a-year, girl's night out, Christmas meal with my friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place has a rotating seasonal menu, so things change a few times a year. When we went, we ordered scotch eggs, crab dip, and some sort of Brussels sprouts. The scotch eggs were okay. Very sausage heavy. I liked the dip with them a lot though. The crab dip was not a hit, it was very funky. Fishy and Parmesan heavy or something. I didn't personally enjoy it, though I did like the wonton chips it was served with. The Brussels sprouts were amazing though, and the only app I would definitely order again. For entrees, we ordered the steak frites with green beans, the beef stroganoff, and the fish and chips. The fish and chips was crispy and good, but not anything super special. It sort of just tasted like fish and chips. Good, but not something I would go out of my way for. The beef stroganoff was good, and I sort of expected it to be amazing for the price I paid, but I really think it tasted just like I make it at home. The steak was awesome though. It was so buttery and tender. It was definitely the star, and the item I would order again. For dessert, we wanted to have the specialty snickerdoodle flavored dessert (might have been a panne cotta or something like that) but they only had vanilla, so we all opted for the apple bourbon caramel bread pudding. It was amazing. We loved it, and the coffee was just standard diner coffee. I'd probably order it again if it weren't seasonal. The service is very friendly, but it is definitely not somewhere you go on a time crunch. Appetizers, entree, coffee with dessert took us 1 hour and 50 minutes, and cost $60. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The aesthetic here is pretty cool if you are into vintage things. It is all dark and woody and gives off old speakeasy vibes, though you really stopped being able to admire it after the place was packed with people standing around waiting for a table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, I am happy that we came here once, I just don't think I will be back, even when I have a spare $60 and two hours of time to spend.

We stopped in here for dinner during a recent trip to the area, and although it was a Saturday night, we were able to be seated pretty quickly. We had checked out another local place, but they had a 2 hour wait, so we decided to try Brickhouse Run instead. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance reminded me very much of the little places I used to stop in when I lived in Europe, which is appropriate, since it is an Irish Pub.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was noisy, but not overly so, and we sat in the room with the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was clear that there were several tables with people who frequent the place, and we were welcomed in as though we were part of the family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For appetizers, we chose the Mediterranean Mozzarella and the Old Town Fries! Both were excellent and plentiful, and very flavorful. For dinner, my daughter chose the Lemon Herb Brick Chicken, our friend chose the House Wedge with Salmon, and I chose the Steak Frites. All of them were cooked to perfection, and none of us had any complaints. For dessert, we chose a chocolate coffee dessert that was out of this world! We left full and happy. We were not disappointed and will definitely be back! Definitely a must try!!!

Nice Pub environment. The service was excellent from the time we entered until we were back outside after dinner. The food was delicious, better than what I expected. My husband said it was more of an Irish feel which is always ok with us. Check this place out you will not be disappointed.

There is a pretty small public parking lot directly across the street, and it was full, so I'm not 100% sure if we parked in the public parking or the parking lot of the glass shop next-door since there weren't really any signs. I really hate parking in the middle of any town, but it wasn't too bad. But I'm still not sure if we could've gotten a ticket or not. You seat yourself in this really awesome classic rock themed restaurant. The decor is great, a perfect mix of interesting things to look at, without being super claustrophobic-ly overwhelming. It is really cute. We took a minute to look over the menu, and decided on the house cut chips appetizer, and both a beef and chicken Shawarma for us to try both. The beef Shawarma was delicious. I really like the seasoning that they use on their meat or sauce or something. I never could place what it was or where it was, but the flavor is just heavenly. A little sweet, a little savory and delicious. The fresh pickled veggies were also amazing. They were still crisp with that snap that you really want with pickled foods. Chicken Shawarma was definitely my favorite since it had slightly different pickled vegetables. They were both good, but the chicken was definitely my favorite by just a touch. The bread was a little hard and chewy for my likings, it definitely stood up to the creamy sauce and the juicy pickled vegetables, but it almost hurt my teeth if you just had a dry spot that hadn't been soaking in some form of liquid. The house cut chips are just OK, nothing special by themselves, but that trio of dipping sauces was amazing. We were dipping our fries into it because we liked those a little better than the chips, but we ate almost every drop of that sauce trying to figure out which one was our favorite. one of the hot sauces is blueberry and very sweet with a mild spice, one is I think mango and not spicy initially, but when you swallowed, you definitely felt it burn in the back of your throat. It was a nice sneaky heat, which I love. And the third dipping sauce, we could not place, but we literally could not figure out which one we loved the most. They have a patio outside with lots of tables, but we did not go out there. It looks cute in the pictures though. The downside, is that while the service was very great, if you catch them out a bad time, they don't yet seem to be able to handle huge amounts of orders. They've only been open for about two months, I think, so that will come in time. It seems that they only have one guy cooking in the back, so we were unluckily there at the same time as a table of eight people. If we had all the time in the world, I could have sat and stared at the decor for ages. But unfortunately, if you are on a lunch break or have to be somewhere, they could potentially be so backed up it takes quite a while to actually get your food. It was a rare and random set of circumstances, and probably does not happen often, and she generously comped our chips which was not necessary but was very appreciated. The service here is absolutely top-notch. We will definitely be back for more of that delicious Shawarma. Definitely earlier in the day though, so we can sit as long as we want.

I found the chicken pita/wrap dry and bland. The burger way too large, overcooked and dry. I'll admit, I'm a saucy person and like lots of flavors and textures, which I didn't find in my couple of visits. The fried cauliflower was tasty, but wish the pitas accompanying them were warm, or at least not cold.

Turns out I was exactly where I needed to be. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits, and they were phenomenal. The cornbread was incredible. I ordered the chicken and waffles.
