We've been going to Piri Piri for years now, ever since my mom moved in nearby. The staff are so kind and always smiling. Whenever we dine in, they always make us feel welcome. We honestly have no idea what everything else on the menu is like, because we always get the half chicken with beans, rice and pico, and the delicious jalapeño corn muffins. The chicken is always super tender; the sauce they cover it with is so delicious; the skin is always the perfect amount of cooked and packed with flavor. They have a very spicy sauce that my partner loves, and I always get the orange sauce. There are others! The drink selection is quite good, with a ton of variety. They even had the seriously-rare grapefruit Jarritos the last time I was there. It's my favorite, but for some reason nobody ever has it! So, I'm not going to change my rating, but I will say I'm thoroughly disappointed in what recently happened. So I'm assuming this place is under new management or at least decided to care about Yelp reviews, given that they have been verified for only a week. I was contacted by the management to take my photos down of the horchata that was allowed to sit long enough for the mix to settle, with an absorbent amount settled at the bottom, stating that "natives are aware of this," so I should basically not be accepting of this possibility. As if I don't understand and assumed because I'm not a "native" that I never made horchata. Let it be understood: I have visited many Mexican, Tex-Mex restaurants, let alone the fact that I love this sweet treat that I made myself, so I'm WELL aware of the possibilities of the mix settling. First off, it should have been some notification that the drink had been sitting for so long that it would need to be churned again... or... maybe you could have just made me a fresh drink rather than provide one that sat long enough that at least a half inch in height of horchata mix settled at the bottom of my beverage that I couldnt even drink through the straw. No one should ever contact someone who made a review over four years ago. Asking for them to delete photos based on their understanding of how a beverage should be presented or served (given that I'm not a native). I feel that was very unprofessional. Especially since they just verified this page enough to care about any of the bad reviews posted in the past, many of them have been removed since they're at five stars now, since they've been verified in the past week. Might I add that? They contacted me the same day that they verified their page. I have the screenshot to prove it. For the appetizer, I got the tortilla chips with White Cheese Sauce and also the salsa. The chips are very well made, with good crisp and flavor. The white sauce pairs super well with it. The salsa is kind of sweet but you can't really taste much spiOne of the other guys thought it was mid. For meal, I got the 1/4 Dark meat chicken meal with piri piri sauce and hot salsa! The chicken was very good. I liked the piri piri sauce but I thought the spicy salsa wasn't spicy enough. I got it with 2 corn tortillas but they were a bit thick, and I wish the corn taste could come out more. For a drink I got the Marañon(cashew) which was actually really good! I had never had the fruit of a cashew before and it tasted really good! The service was really good! Pitiful Piri is down the street from my job and on this day I was hungry and looking for something new and Piri Piri gave me whaat I was looking for. I walked in and ordered a Burrito Sabanero. I had no idea what this was until it came out, but it was basically a chicken burrito with grilled shrimp on top with a side of red beans and rice. When I tell you I ate every bit of this.. I came down from DC to visit family and was craving some really good chicken, and this place did not disappoint. From the moment you walk into Piri Piri Chicken, you can feel how warm and welcoming the atmosphere is. It really makes you want to stay and enjoy your meal. The food is honestly amazing. Piri Piri is tucked away in a small plaza back from the road. Sad in that if you aren't looking for it, you'd likely never see it. It's location is also not ideal for me, even though it's on the heavily traveled Route 1, as I seldom travel this way. For this reason and this reason alone it was only my second visit there. Upon entering you'll find a humble place with seating for fifty or so. There are two menus. One is static, while the other is hand written on a chalk board. At the counter this evening was a young woman, who was taking orders and in the kitchen was an older woman. They were both very pleasant. I ordered two half chickens, two orders of fried yucca, and one order of fried plantains. The order sizes were much larger than any other like establishment in the area. The chicken may not have the crispy crust of others and the spices used give a red look. The taste was very good without any of the sauces provided. The fried yucca portion was good, but because they were cut into more slender pieces, not as tasty as other places. The fried plantains, however, were the best I've had in years! To top off this great meal was a great price and enough left to feed myself for another 2 or 3 days! I regret not having visited here more frequently, but am promising myself not to make the same mistake again! read more

I just had dinner at PiriPiri, eating there for the first time while staying overnight in a nearby motel. What a wonderful meal! I ordered the ranchero steak platter. The steak could not have been cooked more perfectly. The onion rings (not fried or battered) were by far the most delicious I have ever had. Everything else on the platter was excellent too. I didn't dare to eat the "chile toreado", but I took it away with me and will try to work up the courage someday. I also ordered a piece of cheesecake to go, and it too was the best I've ever had. The portions were all enormous, and I could easily have been filled with half of it, but it was too delicious not to finish. I read through the menu and everything there looks delicious, ample, and very reasonably priced. The steak platter was only $18. The waitresses are all fluent in English. This place is the definition of hole in the wall. The chicken blows away what you would get at any Peruvian chain and the in-house sauce (choice of 3) was on par if not better than Nandos. You wont notice it driving by but it's definitely worth the visit. I know I'll be coming back. read more

This was the stop we made after yelper had good things to say about this place. The name is piri piri and it is said to be a Portuguese cuisine but most of the items resembled more like Mexican cantina. If you love Mexican food then this is a must try place. Piri piri is a flavor they specialize in and most of items you can ask for their piri piri chicken added to. The place is well organized and as soon as you get in you can see their love for the chicken. All the chicken posters hanging on the wall is a nice theme they have added. The hostess and the servers are awesome, they love to talk about their food and specially their piri piri chicken. The food was good, we ordered so much and kinda thought we might not be able to finish it but with some breaks we cleaned up everything. It was that good. The prices are decent for the food you get, check out my picture for the Nachos. I have not seen a Nachos decorated so much on that price. Overall it was a good experience for our mood plus our guts. AAAhhhhhhh, the sweet, melo flavors of African Piri Piri Chicken! You don't just find these Piri Piri (Peruvian) restaurants in any American city, normally in culturally friendly cities like Richmond Virginia. This place is near my job and I see it daily, but never gave them a try. So working late one weekend and looking for some quick, good and filling, I gave them a try. So glad I did. The chicken is marinated, then grilled to perfection over an open flame. The skin crisp up holding all that delicious piri piri flavor. You can have a quarter, half or whole chicken. Dinners come with a drink, and two sides. The chicken is served up with a green or red sauce (I like the green, its more traditonal) which is the perfect compliment to the meal. This restaurant is small, located in a strip mall near a DOD installation. The place is very clean and has a variety of Tex Mex meals, but, the go to has to be the chicken. This place is super yum! I came here 3 times and missed a 4th while in town for a week and a half if that tells you anything. And that's odd for me since I like variety. I think the half chicken is a great option - great price and lots of food: rice, beans, 2x corn/chile muffins, and a delicious half of a chicken!! Rice is usually blah but Piri Piri's is good such that you actually want to eat it. The chicken - awesome! Especially when doused with their sauce. If you ask for hot sauce they'll give you the piri piri sauce...which is great but on only slightly spicy. Tip: ask for the hot, hot sauce which is kept in the back because "not a lot of people ask for it" (I just don't think they know about it). That one is actually spicy. I got the burrito too since I was told it was popular. It is very good but it doesn't let the quality of the chicken/restaurant standout. My favorite part of visiting was Monica at the front.
