NO MORE $5 FOR 5 TACOS FYI. As of 8/1/26 Usually it's $2 each which isn't bad but I would go elsewhere if it's not $1.

Outside the supermarket, they make tacos and pupusas! You can get 5 chicken or al pastor tacos for $5. You purchase the food inside, and then they make it right in front of you. They also sell drinks like horchata. There's a nice salsa bar including onions, cilantro, and pickled carrots. I'm taking off 1 star because I got the end of the batch of chicken, so my chicken tacos were a little dry.

5 tacos for $5 on the weekend !!!

$5 tacos on Saturday & Sunday ! Score ! Happened to get our nails done and walked around San Mateo. Got hungry and while walking back to our cars saw the taco stand. They also offer pupusas! Little bit confusing on how to order. You go to the cashier, tell them what you want, pay, & get your receipt. Then you give it to the cook outside. They have a menu of all the meats, however, only pork, chicken, & beef were available. My tacos were loaded and unlimited salsa bar. For the price the tacos were good ! The salsas helped with the seasonings. The cook only spoke Spanish, but she was super nice and I got to use my little Spanish speaking skills. Would come again if I was in the area. The market itself has a lot including pan dulces !

I saw the prices on the tacos and made it a point to stop by. On a Monday at 12:45 pm not busy at all. Located inside the back of Mi Tienda Supermarket. Order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. Small salsa bar/limes/cilantro/onions. $1.99 tacos is rare in the bay. As far as flavor, very bland and dry. The asada was dry as your shoe and charred too much with no seasoning. Same with carnitas dry and no flavor. They do give salt and even with salsa it's edible. The Al pastor is seasoned and isn't bad but still not great. Bottom line is if you want cheap tacos any time of day. Try it out but low expectations here. Street parking is tough.

Stopped by around 8pm for some tacos and pupusas! The inside deli stand was closed but the taco stand was open outside. You pay for your food at the inside cash register and hand him the receipt outside before he makes your food. The guy cooking was very nice! We got two tacos and 3 pupusas. Very generous with the meat!! We got pastor and asada. Super juicy and tender and flavorful. There is a toppings stand on the side with a variety of salsas and the works. Pupusas were fresh and had melty cheese inside. Not too oily or greasy! Pickled veggies on top were crisp and were a good balance. There are tables at the front to sit down and eat at. Parking may be tough if you go during dinner time as a lot of San Mateo restaurants are on this strip, but street parking wasn't too bad. Would recommend!

They have the best pico de gallo - as the employee there recommended it to us! They also have a ton of agua frescas to choose from! The store even has patio seating, perfect for lunching and lounging! Lunch and lounge at Mi Tienda - hmm, even at midnight or early morning, they are open 24/7 for midnight snacks! Their salsa bar is fully stocked. Their tacos are great, and the prices were phenomenal! It is a nice, tidy shop with hot food available whenever you need. Parking is easy right in front or even in the nearby residential area if needed.

The store feels very clean and offers a variety of produce and dry items for people to stock their kitchens. I like that they have a meat market in the back, and sell cheeses/ham as well in their deli. They have a taqueria in the back right corner of the store. Wow! They sell quesadillas, burritos, and tacos (currently for $1 each). I tried 3 tacos of beef, chicken and al pastor (pork). All 3 were so flavorful and delicious. They really packed the meat. I am not sure if it was the owner, but there was a kind gentleman who was sharing some pieces of brisket and BBQ ribs that they will be selling. He says it takes him 16 hours to smoke. These were tender and fell off the bone. Absolutely amazing! I definitely want to come back to buy those. Wow! So delicious. He's a chef. I think he mentioned making these at a different location too so they must sell them elsewhere. Definitely recommend. Staff are nice.

We were walking to another restaurant on 25th when we immediately noticed a taco tent with a long line, music playing, and people eating outside. Then I spotted a sign advertising $0.99 tacos through August 31, 2025, and I knew right away I had to check it out! We paid inside and then stood in line outside. The tacos were made fresh to order. They had chorizo, carne asada, al pastor, tripas, and chicken. We tried everything except the chicken. My husband and I didn't love the carne asada because it was pretty flavorless. My favorite was the al pastor and his was the tripas. The double layered corn tortilla definitely soaks up all the fat... I mean flavor! They have a nice little bar, so you can put your onions, cilantro, lime, and salsas on top. Their orange salsa is spicy but so good! The guy making the tacos didn't speak much English but he was very friendly, helpful and patient with us! He even made my husband's tripas a little crispier bc he overheard him saying he likes it that way. We had such a great experience, we went back the next day for lunch! You really can't beat that deal and I wish we knew it about it earlier in the month. I'd love to try their other offerings they have too!

Tried their $0.99 and went back the next day for more. They load each taco with lots of meat and have a help-yourself salsa bar. I had all of the meats with the exception of the cabeza and chorizo since both were sold out each day I went. My favorite was the al pastor then the chicken. The birria was dry but still edible. Unfortunately they don't sell ceviche but they did have shrimp ceviche tostadas. One order comes with 3 tostadas for $10 and they also loaded these with lots of shrimp. Have I had better tacos and tostadas? Most definitely. Does it satisfy my Mexican food craving? Yes. And you cannot beat these grand opening prices. There are a few picnic tables in the front to enjoy your food warm without reheating. While the market itself is open 24 hours, the food station in the back of the store closes at 8pm and the grill in the front of the store closes at 1am.

    $1 tacos promotion until August 31, 2025

Fresh tacos available 24/7. Promotion for $1 until August 31, 2025. Tried the pork, chicken, beef and chorizo- best was the pork as it was very tender. The condiments are generous and delicious. Can't wait to try to back for other various items. The back closes at 8pm. Grocery stores offers extremely fresh produce with Mexican and Chinese items. Many items are way cheaper than nearby stores so stop here first to shop. Extremely clean and well lighted. Plenty of parking at night.

Came by to try out their tacos since they were under new management and had $1 tacos as a deal, but ended up with a $100 ER bill. We bought some tacos and pupusas to try from here for my family, and we all ended up with food poisoning. When I arrived, it should have already been a red flag that their raw meats were sitting on the counter, and they were giving out cooked meats that's been sitting out (with no heat source to keep it warm), but I gave them the benefit of the doubt & regretted it. This makes me question their food safety handling. My 2 year who usually does not eat the same foods as us due to her food allergies had some meats from here and she ended up with food poisoning as well. It not only took out my daughter and I, but my husband and brother as well. I will be avoiding this in the future to be on the safe side.

    99-cent taco Tuesday
    Tom T.

Stopped by here for 99-cent tacos on a Tuesday. I got 4 tacos to go: carne asada, al pastor, pollo, and birria. I'm usually not one to go for chicken tacos but the chicken meat here was surprisingly juice. Out of the 4 I had the birria was my favorite. While waiting in line for the tacos, the gentleman who works there called me to the side to sample his fresh out of the grill brisket and baby back ribs. It was fall-off-the-bone and melt-in-your-mouth type of goodness! Will definitely come back for more tacos and try their bbq properly.

I found this place through a TikTok video and definitely came for their tacos. The supermarket is well stocked, clean, and offers excellent service. Head to the back and you'll find the food ordering area. They have so many meat options! My favorites were the carne asada and the birria. The lady working there was very kind and fast, she managed to whip up 25 tacos (yes, I eat a lot)! You then add your own toppings like onions, cilantro, and green salsa. They're also open 24/7. How incredible is that?! I'm definitely coming back whenever I get the late night munchies.

I love El Sinaloense for two things , ceviche and molcajete, which is a mixed grill type of Mexican dish named for the three footed volcanic rock vessel that it is cooked in. This was a molcajete day, despite the fact that I had no one to share the dish with. El Sinaloense has a couple of different versions, with a mix of seafood and meats, but the one I ordered today was their special with charred whole green onions, nuggets of tender roasted cactus ( nopals) as well as shrimp, chicken and shrimp. The molcajete sauce is what makes it special and cheese is added to the dish at the end. It is served with homemade corn and flour tortillas and a side ( very small portion relative to size of the main course, which easily feeds two or even three. That is correct, instead of a small portion of quality protein accompanied by a ton of beans and rice, El Sinaloense loads you up with the expensive, flavorful stuff, using the side plate as an accompaniment as it should be.. and BRAVO for that. At $30.95, for a shared entree this is such a cheap eat, especially when given the quality of the meat and shrimp. Today I sat outside and Mr Cesar took such good care of me. As an aside ( which I specialize in, mais of course ) it is worth noting that this lively establishment seems to be a World Cup mecca, for locals, with Happy Hour specials during games. Anyhow my molcajete arrived sizzling ( also worth nothing that this dish finishes cooking table-side due to it's vessel and is optimally consumed immediately because of the risk of overcooking as it sits. I made two gorgeous soft tacos, one steak and shrimp and one chicken and steak, each with a charred onion, lots of cactus and cheese and a small dollop of guacamole. They were filling and each ingredient sung. I will say that the steak had been rendered a tougher texture by the time I got to the second beautifully wrapped package. Taking my cue from this I opted to consume the rest if the shrimp, which were still perfectly cooked, rather than stuff another tortilla. Julius Cesar took care of bringing me a box for my considerable ( 2/3 of the molcajete contents) and an iced tea to go cup. Paying through the InKind app is seamless, just let your server know and in the case if this establishment, note the name of your server specifically. My points covered all but gratuity and my boys can stretch the leftovers with beans and cheese and make some killer nachos to watch World Cup tonight. 10 stars as a bang for buck- this cost me $7, but 4-+ because that 5th star is still elusive. That being said, I have never had anything but a stellar meal here and although today was a solo dining experience, El Sinaloense's atmosphere and drinks lend itself to a large group experience.

I'm an al pastor burrito guy and this one was way too heavy on the spice/seasoning and kinda overpowered everything. Also there was barely any trace of tater tots which I was really looking forward to. My daughters ate the asada and said it was just ok. One thing is that the burritos are smaller than your super at El Farolito but they do pack it in there and it's pretty filling! The birria was actually pretty good and they gave a couple different sauces and cabbage and I would recommend it. I was also looking forward to eating the churro donuts on the drive back home because I thought they would be hot n good but that wasn't the case. They musta pulled them out from under a warming lamp because they were barely lukewarm to cold so that was a fail. Overall, it's not bad, but definitely pricier than most of the other popular Mex spots and now that I think about it, I probably won't go back because of it. There's plenty good Mex around for a lot less $$. I coulda gotten 3 super burritos from Farolito for $35 vs ~$75 that I paid at Suavecito.
