So my husband and I are ALWAYS in the mood for some good tacos! Are first glance, we were confused as to whether it was really a restaurant or a grocery. But we walked in anyway and sure enough, there was a bar area to the left complete with tables for dining. We sat and were promptly greeted by a friendly waitress who took our drink orders and provided menus and two bottles, one with tomatillo salsa and a red salsa and house made tortilla chips. This made me really excited, because they resembled the tortilla chips we were served at resorts in Mexico many times! One bite of the chips with the salsa and I felt I was back in Mexico! They were perfect and those salsas were spicy and addictive. The best we ever had!! They were so good, in fact, I ordered some to go. Now, as for the tacos, I ordered steak, pork, and Al pastor. My husband ordered steak, barbacoa and chicken. They arrived wrapped in in paper--looked like they had been steamed as well. My, my,my!!! They were an experience, so delicious! Now we have gone to many a Mexican restaurant--even in Mexico! But this place will hold a very special place in my heart. They really deserve a more central location with better access. If you are looking for something more like a family restaurant, far removed from the tourist areas in almost any Mexican city or town, then you have found the right place. The place is clean. The chairs, tables and booths mismatched and well used but serviceable. The menus photocopied. The lighting is a little harsh. There's the compulsory photo of the Pope and the Madonna hanging in the corner. All of this and great food combine to make this my go to place for authentic Mexican cooking. I just sat down for a carry it dinner of 3 tacos pastor ($7.95 - Mexican style with cilantro, onion and tomato, thank you) some very good rice and the best beans I have had since I moved here from Chicago in 2005. I wish I could have shown you but I thought about pictures after I ate ... the smell was driving me wild! If your looking for real, authentic, family cooked food ...
