We dine here several times a month and have usually enjoyed our experience, but unfortunately, tonight was disappointing. We had to wait an unusually long time to be seated and then again to place our order. There were no drink refills offered, and we had to wait for the correct number of silverware and other basic necessities. We were also surprised to learn about the new policy of automatically adding a 20% gratuity for parties of five or more--even though three of the five in our group were children. Well...nothing out of the ordinary from the run of the mill Mexican restaurant except for the abomination known as Golden Peak sweet tea. Literally sweet tea from Mexican restaurants being really sweet is why I love Mexican. Besides the tea, it was just ok. The salsa was the part I enjoyed the most. It was more of a thin, vinegary salsa. Queso was what you would expect - white melted cheese. For my entree, I had the Gordo burrito. This burrito was gigantic and stuffed with meat, sour cream, tomatoes, and topped with queso and green sauce. I chose pork thinking it was going to be more like pulled pork but was closer to hamburger meat. I did like the fact it was in some kind of Mexican sauce conglomeration. Friday night, not bad, only a 15 min wait for a table of 3. Great service from the servers and runners with chips, salsa, and drinks. 4 of 5 stars only because my pork steak was a bit overcooked - they should let it finish cooking on the sizzling plate, rather than letting it get tough. I placed an order online through El Jimador's website https://eljimadorcrownpointin.com and paid for it online. I go in at the specified time to pick up my order. I tell them that I am there to pick up an order that I placed online. They immediately tell me "oh we dont take online orders, only phone orders". I said, "I placed the order through your website, its paid for and everything". I also showed him the receipt for the order and had him verify that I placed it at the correct location. He informs me again that they don't take online orders and he cant do anything for me. He said that I have to call the company that I placed the order through which again, is El Jimadors website. After a few minutes back and forth he calls the owner at which point they finally decided to fulfill my order. I placed it with him and waited. While im waiting he asks me if my first name is Ryan, im assuming they finally located the order I placed. After waiting 30 minutes past my scheduled pick up time I get my food. He says as im leaving," Im sorry about that, they dont tell me anything". Once I get home, I check my order and its incorrect. I ordered 2 shrimp tacos on corn tortillas and 2 fish tacos with flour tortillas. I received 2 shrimp tacos on corn and 2 shrimp tacos with flour. Not only did they not want to give me my order until they spoke to the owner although I provided proof of my order , they also got my order wrong. I would not recommend El Jimador. Maybe the dine in experience is different but this was my first and last time dining here. I understand mistakes happen but to tell me that I am out of luck and out of money was incredibly frustrating. They had no concern or care for the issue until I refused to accept their "not our problem" response. They tried to make it right by getting the food but couldn't even make the order correctly. read more

Fajitas were very greasy and not very authentic. My meal came. Had to ask for silverware. Waitress said to use my fingers. Then I finished my meal and wanted to cash out. I received no itemized receipt for my charges. This was from the blonde bartender. Needless to say, I won't be back. This is the best Mexican food in the area! Large portions for a decent price. My favorite go-to is the taco salad, the leftovers gives me another meal or two out of it! Everything I've tried has been fresh and delicious. The staff is always attentive and helpful, and they work great together during their busiest time to make sure everyone is satisfied. Been here multiple times and usually had good experiences. This time my friends and I had a server who did a fine job. We all ordered Arroz con Pollo and agreed that it did not taste right and had a soapy after taste. As someone who is a restaurant server I hate to be one to complain about food. We brought up our concerns to the server very respectfully and she said she would get the owner. The owner would not approach our table and the server simply told us they make the food the same way every time so she couldn't do anything to help us out. We requested the owner and he told us the same thing, and all we asked is if we could get a partial discount because we all had 3 bites at most of our food and did not enjoy it. He told us there was nothing he could do because they "make the food the same every single time" even though we had all had the exact same dish previously and enjoyed it before, and knew that something was wrong this time. He also told us "if you don't like the food at a restaurant then you should go somewhere else". Extremely unprofessional and embarrassing for a restaurant owner who should be focused on customer satisfaction. I'd love to give this place a 5 star review but..... I've been there twice - first time ordered fish tacos. If you've ever bought pig ears for your dog (those dried out stiff chewy things) welcome to my fish tacos. Inedible. He brought our chips and took our order. Food was eventually brought out by a very confused female. First she brought chips (?) which we already had on the table. Then she returned to take our order (??) which btw we had been waiting a weirdly long time for already as we placed it with the male server long before. Eventually she returned with our food and we never saw her again. Place was not that busy so I have no idea why such delays and confusion. As I am a glutton for punishment, we returned. I had a chimichanga - ehhh. Time for food to arrive oddly long once again. Male server - same one - once again efficient and friendly - which is only reason I am not giving a 1 star. The confused female server (or one like her) showed up again with another confused one helping her. They did not come to our table instead they mainly hung out by the bar area with the one loudly talking. They then wandered back to kitchen - no idea what their actual roles are but they muddy the water badly. The menu is not spectacular but okay. I would never bring a client here or recommend to a friend nor would I go out of my way to come back.
