We love this place! The staff is amazing, the food consistently delicious, and we love the atmosphere. Jesse ( guy behind the bar with green hair) is my all time favorite bartender! Most of the food I've ordered is good. It's a clean restaurant with awesome service. Last time I ordered a ceviche tostada I wasn't impressed the ceviche had no other flavor than just lemon. We love their side of guacamole we always order it. The Chile rellenos are editable, but I don't like that the sauce is a mole like sauce and they're topped with a mix of mozzarella and cheddar I would much rather prefer queso fresco. I prefer mine with a red sauce. Also the last time we were there the rice was under cooked I couldn't eat it, but my husbands chilaquiles were delicious. The carne asada is not really the carne asada it's skirt steak or something else. Maybe they can't find the right cut of meat here to cook real carne asada. I wish they had more soups though like albóndigas, caldo de res and the like. I also want to add that our last few visits the dishes we normally order have been cooked differently. The shrimp cocktel didn't have avocado once I asked the server she said only campechanas had them, but when I checked the menu it clearly states all cocktails come with pico and avocado. The server mentioned how it all depends on the chef that day on how the dishes come out. I think each cook should know the menu and pay attention to what's in each dish so that there's no surprises. Today we went again and I ordered another shrimp cocktel and I fortunately again it was different the broth wasn't shrimp it was Clamato. Never had it served with Clamato there before since again the menu states it's supposed to be shrimp/seafood broth. I could have fixed me a cocktel at home with Clamato I was very disappointed. We were looking for some quality Mexican food at a good price, and to be fair that's what we got. The service was a bit weird here. At first our service was great- could tell he was enthusiastic about his job but sometimes struggled with English. No worries, he seemed great. However, after having our plates cleared we waited for another 20-30 minutes for the check, until finally another server noticed the irritated look on our faces. Better than average Mexican food. Nothing fancy, just basic, consistently well prepared food. I normally have their enchiladas or chimichanga - both excellent. Their salsa is also quite good with just the right amount of fresh cilantro. Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it is the best I've found around Bluffton. Our waiter was so kind and took great care of us. We don't know his name, but he was from Bolivia. He made us guacamole at our table and it was the best guacamole we've ever had. Shrimp tacos are also excellent! Served with a sauce on the side that is similar to the yum yum sauce at hibachi restaurants. So good! Would definitely return. read more

Found this via Yelp and it's worth the drive from Hilton head to go to Bluffton. It's very close to the Tanger outlets. Delicious, fresh Mexican food. Great variety in the menu. Service was great. Look forward to returning there next time I am in town. read more

This is a tough review to write because the people are always so nice here. That said, the food borders on inedible, really, really bad. I mean the ingredients are OK, but the recipes and the construction are just - well - bad. The guacamole that was supposed to have been fresh made when we ordered it was clearly hours - or even days - old. My wife's fajita burrito was so bad she actually ate only one bite (and the waitress never even said a thing, just cleared the plate.) Making things even worse are the outrageous prices, more like Hilton Head, and almost double for what we pay for much better Mexican food in places like Atlanta and Miami. Not sure what the rub is, but perhaps its just that there's simply no other Mexican to speak of and a big Latina community (and plenty of locals who probably don't care once the margaritas start flowing.) I really wonder about people who would give this place 4 or - god forbid - 5 stars. Where have you eaten? (and another good example of why not everyone should be a critic.) I had to take away a star at one of my favorite restaurants today. My beloved MI Tierra, seems to be dropping the ball lately. We went in for lunch today, and though they have the usual suspects here for lunch, something was amiss. I asked our waiter what he'd recommend from the lunch menu, he said that the Chilquilles were really good, I asked red or green, he recommended the red, he also said that the dish came with a small steak and a couple of eggs cooked over easy. It says on the menu it came with flour tortillas. What I got, was quite simply not very good, and to be honest, very bland and seemed to be a bit sour. When my plate came out, there were 2 eggs, but they were fried so crispy that they crunched. The steak was about an ounce in weight, way over cooked, and as tough as a shoe. The beans had absolutely no flavor, and could have used a lot more salt. Not once did the aforementioned flour tortillas make an appearance. Even though I asked twice. The chilequilles, we're a mess. Basically they were some chips you get with salsa as you sit, but they were slathered in a red sauce that tasted as if it had come out of a #10 can. The chips given as you sit were warm and salted great! The Salsa Was good, it was chunky with fresh onions, cilantro, but it was lacking any heat what so ever. As if they were afraid to scare their Caucasian cutomers. Being that I'm a regular, I know the keep the Home made hot sauce in the back, so I asked for a bowl. It was smokey and hot it was delicious. My son ordered a quesadilla and fries. The kids menu says it comes with a drink. Well the bill came out with each item ala carte. $3 for fries, $8 for the quesadilla and $2.25 for the soda. Lunch for one adult and a child with tax and tip was over $30. It's going to take a lot to get me back in there, especially since there are so many really good mexican restaurants here in bluffton. I'd not tell any body to not frequent this place, but what I will say is maybe stay away from lunch, and please make sure your bill is correct. I just paid it and left disappointed. read more

Good food, ok priced but every time I go it's for a quick taco at the bar but the bartender (American female) is slightly unpleasant. Make remarks like "gosh you drink a lot of water" and "boy you ate those tacos fast". It's happened to me a few times already and each time she is just generally unpleasant. I visited when I was in town last summer. We enjoyed it. I'm back again so I was looking forward to trying it again. The most important qualities I'm looking for are price and portions. I was disappointed in both categories. I ordered the Mexican Burrito, sent it back, and I never send food back. The rice was not good and it was the main ingredient. Tried again with a ten dollar "tostada". More like a taco salad. It was small and light on the chicken. The food was terrible and flavorless. After we got drinks my little girl asked for a cheese dip. So he brought out the Chili Queso dip, us being from out of town, we just thought that was the cheese dip. Which was $7 (not what we ordered), but he also charged us for the small cheese dip. When we got the bill it looked expensive but had given him the card to run. When he got back we checked over it again, we were charged for cheese dip on every item we ordered. We were charged almost $3 on everything with cheese dip when it was supposed to be 1.50. When getting his attention and letting asking him about it, he said the chili queso was what we ate. And I said that's not what we ordered. He said "there's nothing I can do now". We told him that wasn't right... and he took it back and he was telling the manager and his buddies that we ordered that appetizer queso and we didn't. He was talking about us as if we were trying to get something for nothing. After he came back he had only took off one $3 charge and said "that's all we can do" in a very rude and non-customer service voice. We said "no that's not. You need to take off the cheese dips. What TERRIBLE customer service." Then he continued to say with a smirk on his face "ha I don't care" and walked away giggling... like what kind of business is this??? Taking money from people!!! It's stealing. We also asked to talk to manager and the manager just continued to say "he is fixing it" and he didn't fix it!!! I'm a server and have worked in many different restaurants and have never seen business handled this way! Watch what you order and look at your bill. We were overcharged $10. read more

I wish I could give this place 4.5 stars, but only because the margaritas aren't always as strong as I would like. The food is ALWAYS fantastic and it tastes just as great every time we go.
