Why wasn't this place packed on a Friday night? Was it covid? Good Friday? I mean they were steady but there should be a wait for food this good. We ate here Friday night, 4/2 on the recommendation of our hotels front desk guy. I love Mexican, it's my favorite food. We got a table almost immediately, and we were starving. The complimentary chips and salsa where excellent. Probably homemade. Lots of cilantro in the salsa which I like. We ordered cheese quesadillas, very good. They had peppers and onions in them, I think I'll make them that way the next time I make them at home. My wife had the Mi Tierra Tostada salad with chicken. She ate the whole thing which she never does. I tasted the chicken, excellent. I had the Chile Colorado burrito, excellent. Big chunks of what I think was brisket, well balanced, with good rice on the side. I have to report the burrito was a little small, in comparison to places like BubbakoosBurritos or Chipotle. I didn't mind because I ate quesadillas and chips. I should have asked for a little more spice too. Our waitress Natalie was so sweet and attentive. This place deserves no stars! Came in to enjoy lunch with my younger sister and her boyfriend. We were approached by a waitress, and I asked if we could sit at the bar. She then looked over at my little sister and said that she didn't think that we were allowed to sit there. So I followed up with while she's going on 29 so I think we're OK to sit at the bar. The waitress then laughed and pointed at her. My little sister, is 4'11, due to childhood leukemia - we shouldn't have received this treatment. My response to the waitress- well aren't you going to at least check her ID? She rolled her eyes and said no and walked off. I then heard her discussing it in the kitchen with other coworkers. We ended up using the restroom and leaving. Disappointed in humanity. read more

The restaurant seems to have undergone a change in management/ownership. Weve been dining weekly at Mi Tierra for the last 3 years, about 2 months ago, all the servers we've interacted with and know us as "regulars", are now gone. although the food is quite good, the service has gotten "spotty" at best. We dined there yesterday and not only waited quite some time to be seated, no one approached our table for a better part of 10 minutes. A young man literally ran to our table to take our order while another young lady walked by us multiple times, empty handed, not even acknowledging our presence and reeking of perfume. It's difficult to eat when your food is fighting with the strong smell of perfume. This is the 3rd time we've dealt with her ruining a meal. Probably won't go back for a while until the management addresses their staffing issues. For those who can deal with the strong odor of perfume while eating, you'll Probably be fine. read more

While the service was exceptional, the food wasn't very flavorful. Had their chicken fajitas and I've had better Mexican food elsewhere. Although, I'll have to admit that their chips and salsa are very good. I wouldn't say that I'd never come here again.. But if I'm in town again next time, I'll try something different from their menu before I rule them out as a dining option. To me, it was just very bland food. The refried beans, rice, and chicken were all lacking in flavor. Just not good in my opinion. read more

Ordered a fish Diablo (not for the faint hearted, but amazing) My husband ordered a chicken fajita and they made it special to order (on a bed of jalapeños)!! Our waiter Fernando (what a sweetheart) overtly friendly and welcoming , accommodating and so funny!!! Definitely worth a visit!! Old Mi Tierra whom started the Mexican food craze here in Bluffton and on HIlton Head Island. If you have eaten at any Mexican restaurant in bluffton or Hilton Head then is originated in the store in Bluffton. Mi Tierra started it all and most of the Recipe came from their families in Los Angeles . With that said let's get down to business. Always fast, plentiful portions of Tex Mex food . They always have two types Dos Equis on draft which is always a treat! Margaritas are average and could be better in my opinion. The beer is always cold and plentiful! . I'm a fan of hard tacos so I always go with the 3 beef tacos or the Carne Asada. It's a local favorite and great place to sit down and have a Tex mex meal . read more

Just tried this place while vacationing at Hilton Head (20 minutes). Menu has some different offerings, and a lot of seafood. I got the Camarones Locos....large shrimp and octopus with tomatoes and more....tender octopus and a little smoky flavor....excellent. Chips are thin and crispy. read more

Vacationing from California, this was the closest mexican food restaurant closest to us. We were seated immediately after entering establishment, our drink orders were taken quickly as well. I ordered coffee dinner was enchilada and chile relleno it was delicious. The dish could hve been warmed up a little more in my opinion but other than that was tasty. my spouse ordered 7 mares soup which is not what we are used to. It had crab legs and a couple of potatoes floating around broth was a little salty. read more

Some of the best Mexican food I have ever enjoyed. Ordered fajitas supremes with steak chicken and shrimp. The steak was tender, the chicken juicy and the shrimp cooked just right. I am only giving this place 4 stars because my parents and husband loved their food. My fajitas however sucked. They were horrible. No flavor at all. I only made 1 fajita then just stopped eating. I was that turned off. On a lighter side. The service was great. Once the server realized the food was not good to me. She didn't even waste he time bringing over a manager or anything. She came back with the check and said that my meal had been taken off. That was really sweet and professional of her. I was not intending on telling her about not liking the food. She asked me if I wanted a box to take with us. I probably won't go back. But at least they were nice to me. For that reason I leave them at the 4 stars. read more

Mi Tierra is a perennial favorite. Seating is almost always quick, the staff is super friendly, and the food is great. Mi Ti is my #1 go to in town because of their consistent quality, welcoming atmosphere, and prompt service. Hard shell chicken tacos, tortilla soup, and Mexican Caesar are my faves. read more

Mi Tierra is the best Mexican restaurant South of Broad (the Bluffton and Hilton Head area). I prefer the Bluffton location to the Hilton Head location. The service is better in Bluffton. I believe the two locations are run by different branches of the same family. The family also has a location in Hardeeville, but I haven't been to that one yet. For starters, Mi Tierra knows how to make a great top shelf margarita. They stock Hornitos, Don Julio, Patron, etc. Second, the chips come out warm and the salsa fresh. The guac is always good and I like to try their various seafood dishes--ceviche, shrimp cocktail served in broth and shrimp fajitas. The hard shell tacos, with shredded beef and chicken, are also superior. read more

Its always good to be in the South... you can basically guarantee there will be good Mexican and this place is SURE to deliver. Ambiance: standard of what you would expect of a Mexican joint. Booths, streamers, etc. Service: This is why this place loses a star- the servers just aren't too friendly. Either standoffish or aloof. The times I have gone here it has taken a LONG time for the servers to get chips and salsa out to the table. This is abnormal to me because generally right as you sit down you should be receiving your chips & salsa. The salsa is also not my favorite, but its not that bad. The food is really what makes this place worth coming to. I get my usual Carne Asada, and my husband gets tacos or enchiladas. My carne asada comes with a tortilla soup. The soup has avocado in it and tortilla strips, some nice chicken and a bit of other random veggies. Honestly, I wonder why this comes with the meal, but it is GOOD. One time my husband and I were here with family and his dad ordered nachos. They were AMAZING. There is something about how they prepare the chicken that is superb in all there dishes, but it really came out in the nachos dish. My carne asada is fairly standard, and here they give you FOUR flour tortillas instead of the usual 3! There just aren't enough good things to say about the food here. Normally the food is good, hot, and the service is very good. Last night's meal very different. They were very busy for a Tuesday night and must not have had enough help all around. We sat at the back bar as there was a wait for a table. It took fifteen minutes just to get a beer and a margarita. She forgot the waters we ordered at the same time. After twenty minutes, we got our menus. Another ten minutes go back, we finally are able to place our order. When the food comes out, the food is cold and so are the plates! Normally the food is piping hot and you cannot touch the plate as it's straight out of the oven. The staff were not friendly at all, cold food, lousy service all equate to a bad choice for Tuesday night. read more

The menu was not over done and jam packed with everything, aesthetically pleasing decor, good happy hour margarita for $4.oo, not great. the nachos and sauces served prior to the meal were excellent. 'Dis Likes" Carnitas was small in portion and was all shredded, without the clumps of pork, which is typical for the dish/At Mi Tierra, it looked like any other white meat, it didn't have that more chunky(?) look, seared edges. The small side of guacamole was about 2 tablespoons and cost $3.50, topped with diced tomatoes..?..weird and very chincy in amount. The rice and beans were super bland, truthfully the entire meal was bland, nothing exciting or unique as to appearance, flavor or lingering sensation. For 1 drink, 1 entree and 1 small side with tip Iit cost me $25.00 which I think is too much for what I had. Cant say I will be back, as I have reviewed other Mexican places that I thought were superb. Good service and good free nachos are just not enough for me to rste this location higher. read more

We only get really great Mexican food when we travel to Mexico, Texas or California. But the closest that any Mexican restaurant comes to this quality in all of the HHI/Bluffton/Hardeeville area is Mi Tierra. Compared to the top quality it is a solid 2.5-3 but for this area, a solid 4. We have tried all of the items on the menu that we know to compare and are now settled on a handful of entrees... Camarones Sarandeados, Camarones "Mi Tierra", Chimi Del Mar, Enchiladas Tarascas; Ribeye steak and Camarones Costa Azul, Arroz con Camarones, Mojarra Loca. We asked if they could add some extra onions and peppers since we were dropping everything else..after all what's an onion cost? Nope...just brought the standard plate at full price.
