Unfortunately that wasn't the case today. New? hostess pushed back immediately and repeatedly on my order before the kitchen told her it was no problem. Food was great, but I waited ~27 minutes after signing the check for my pregnant wife's chips/queso to-go. Best they could do was refund the queso. I still visit this place once a week and it's always consistent. The staff is kind, fast, and the manager is always around helping as well. It's nice that they have light and heavy options. It is NOT mostly fried food like other Mexican places, and I cannot emphasize enough how it's always FRESH!! The El Hawaiino is my favorite speciality. The grilled pineapple pieces mixed with chicken, sauces, and multiple flavors make it SO tasty. The Fiesta Bowl is a lighter favorite; ample chicken or beef, lettuce, fresh avocado, pico, black beans, rice, sour cream, and once again, tons of flavor. I am about to drop Mi Tierra Riverside which has been my go to Mexican Restaurant for years. They keep dropping items off their Lunch menu. Last year they dropped the wonderful carnitas from the lunch menu. No explanation from Manager when asked. Now they dropped the chili relleno from the lunch menu. Time to find another Mexican lunch choice. read more

I was not impressed with the 299 margaritas. None of the meat had any kind of seasoning whatsoever. I'm sorry it's just not my kind of Mexican restaurant atmosphere was great. The service was great food. I just like a little bit more authentic spice from the meat to the sauce to the salsa. Chips is a big issue. I like them thin and crunchy, not thick and overdone. We stopped in there on a whim, hoping that it was like the one in Glenpool, it might not even be the same name, but I thought it was. I was looking forward to trying it again different location. The margarita special on Saturdays is amazing. The staff was attentive and friendly. The ambience was such a vibe and they have it decorated quite nicely. while I didn't enjoy my empanada, was kind of on the dry side, but the chimichanga was amazing. Dined on a Monday with a work colleague. I remember this when it was Tin Star (location) First - very clean and modern look. Nice bar and patio. Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. Menu was fairly standard Mexican fare - lots of options to order platters or build your own. I even went ala carte. Chips, salsa, and creamy sauce came out quickly. Salsa was nice - had some chunk to it, onions prevalant... slight kick if any. The creamy sauce was a hint sweet which I didn't care for. I ordered ala carte - chicken enchilada with queso sauce, ground beef enchilada with red sauce, and one carne asada taco. All were very good - the taco was really good, with raw onions, cilantro, and mild salsa verde on the side. My dining partner had two enchiladas with rice. He's a regular and they know him, haha. Soft tacos with a choice of ground beef or shredded beef or chicken were only $1.50. each They were generously filled with meat. Fernando and Brian (?) were attentive and helpful. I really wanted to love this new restaurant. I did love the refried beans. They have more flavor than most Mexican restaurants. I also like their modern sleek black decor, and the open kitchen. The salsa was more than just bland. It tasted like stewed tomatoes. I couldn't continue dipping my chips into that, so I asked if they had another salsa. They brought us much better salsa. It was a little on the hot side, but when mixed with some of the tomato sauce, it was quite good. The chili relleno had a very thick and tasteless breading. The pepper was tough and difficult to cut. It was overcooked at the very end and looked like cooked spinach. Some of the cheese was melted, but towards the top of the pepper, it was not. The server asked if I wanted cheese dip on it without telling me there was a $1.25 charge for the cheese dip. My husband ordered a tamale, which might have been good if it wasn't over cooked on the bottom. We were there after the lunch hour, so that might account for the crunchy tamale. There was a section that wasn't scorched and I found it to be quite good. It was nice and moist. Most tamales are too dry for me. I later tried a chicken enchilada. The server first asked me if I wanted cheese dip on it. This time she remembered to tell me there was an extra charge and I declined. I don't know what other choices there were since I wasn't looking at the menu. She asked if I wanted red sauce and I said okay. The red sauce had a nice flavor, but it wasn't right for chicken. Sour cream or tomatillo would have been much better. They didn't have prices or sizes on the drink menu. Dan asked the server about the sizes and she used her hands to show small and large. He went with the large. It was too large. Prices and size by oz. would have been helpful. When we got the bill, we realized they charged us to use a credit card. We were not told about that ahead of time. There were also 2 taxes. I called to see what that was about. They said the second tax was for the beer. We've never seen that on a restaurant bill. It might be that it's there, but just not pointed out as it was on this bill. We checked the Internet to see what the law is and found an article saying there's a higher tax for mixed drinks consumed in a restaurant. The law might have changed to include beer since that article was written. I don't know. The service was good. The servers kept checking on us. There was plenty of parking. The restaurant was clean and well decorated. Ordinarily, I never give lower than 4 points for a new restaurant. I figure it takes time to learn what the customers like and tweak the dishes. There was just so much wrong here. I have to be fair to the customers. I would suggest putting sizes and prices on the drink menu, letting customers know ahead of time that there's a charge for using a credit card, and telling servers never to ask if a customer wants something without telling them there's an extra charge. As for the food, listen to the customers. read more

We used to like to eat here up until last week. Ordered food to go $50 bucks worth, picked up food, noticed that there was no queso (big bowl was paid for), called to let them know they shorted us, wasnt impressed with the small bag of chips that was included in the order. Took my name and told me to get a free one next time we were in... No problem. Emptied the bag of food and found that they did not include our beans. Called again to tell them they shorted us beans, wanted to give us beans on the next trip in, at that point I said no, I will make the drive back to the restaurant to pick up what we were shorted, they said ok see ya in a few. Got to restaurant, an older lady met me at the hostess station and began to tell me that there was no way that they had forgotten the beans and cheese as she hands me the bag of food. I asked her if she thought I was lying, her response was "its ok, you take it. Asked again you are seriously thinking I am trying to scam you out of some beans and cheese? She once again said, "its ok, you take the food". This was the straw for me, I responded "tell you what, you can keep your food, I will never be back to a place that thought I was there to scam them out of some food!!!! Said she was ridiculous and left. Proceeded to Los Cabos, paid for a generous amount of beans, cheese and huge bag of chips and went home. I have never in my life, ever, made up a story or lied to get food and to be accused of doing so was very offensive. I will never darken their door way again. So if you've read my reviews you know I love Mexican food. If you haven't eaten here yet, please trust me and get here! The service from Jose was top notch and it was very evident he cares about your entire experience from the seating all the way to the check it was all done with the utmost care. The drink menu well curated and executed, I had the coco loco and highly recommend. The chips and salsa flowed, warm and fresh crispy chips and multiple salsas. We were also offered some extra spice and heat sauces. I do recommend their normal salsa as it was perfect but the tomatillo was as advertised, simple but with a lil kick. My husband ordered Las Flautas plate and I WILL be ordering this next time we come here. That shredded beef was outstanding, like inappropriate noises and happy wiggle delicious. I had the pick your own combo and chose the pork tamal, empanada, refried beans and chili. The empanada was so flaky and light and the inside was so gooey and delicious. The pork tamal was seasoned so well and cooked to perfection, the refried beans were good and I tried the chili but I was out of room there was soooooo much amazing food that I had to take it to go. The bite I did take I can say that I now have a place to go get chili that I don't have to make when I want it and that's a win for me. Again I repeat the food is ridiculously good and the service is wonderful. I highly recommend asking for Jose, but I suspect the service here is consistent no matter who you are seated with. They are definitely putting out A game food and we will be back. Plenty of parking, outdoor seating, ample seating at bar, booths, tables and they can accommodate large parties. New place so I'll cut them some slack. Nice decor. Pleasant but poorly trained staff. I ordered From the ala carte menu a chili relleno and a tamale. Waitress asked me if I wanted cheese sauce on the relleno. I said sure why not. I ordered a draft beer and she asked "small or large". She did not know the size or price difference between the two. The bottom surface of the tamale was scorched and required a knife to cut it. The pepper in the chili relleno was unusually tough, Also requiring the use of a knife. About halfway up the pepper, the cheese filling was loaded with seeds. When I got the check I was unpleasantly surprised to see a number of line items. There was heretofore un-mentioned up charge for the cheese sauce. There was a never mentioned up-charge for paying with a credit card. And they charged a 13.5% alcohol tax (shown on the check as Tax 2). According to the Oklahoma Policy Institute, that tax is to be levied on mixed drinks, not beer. They need to correct a lot of things from the kitchen to the wait staff to the cash register or they won't last long. read more

We stopped by the brand new restaurant Mi Tierra Cocina the other day on 96th and Delaware. We really enjoyed our time there. The space is modern and spacious. It has a nice open kitchen/bar concept. The food was pretty straight down the middle "Tex Mex" but did include some nice elevated touches. For example, my shrimp tacos had cojita cheese, picked onions, and a nice dipping sauce. My wife had taquitos which she enjoyed. We had the large house margarita which proved to be a sweet and refreshing way to beat the heat. The food came out super quick and the service was great. It appears to be a family run small business which we always go out of our way to support. It has a great location right off Riverside. It also has a small patio, but currently no umbrellas. It'll probably be nice in the fall. read more
