Aisles are a bit narrow, but relatively well organized. Might be able to find some Japanese items you can't find in other stores. Friendly staff!

It is located right next door to Kim's Mart and is accessible via a flight of stairs leading upwards. They carry all sorts of Japanese goods. I picked up a few bottles of pink coloured Sakura cola there, and some prepackaged seasoned kelp which I like using at home to make onigiri. Usually I do it all from scratch using dried up sheets of Dashi Kombu. The prepackaged ones will save me a lot of work the next time I want to make them! We also found many items that were expired or close to their expiration date. There were huge discounts on these items. (eg. boxes of powdered drink mixes) We're fine buying these kinds of products as the "Best Before" dates don't necessarily mean "No Good after..." to us! I appreciate that this store openly admits that these products have expired or are near their expiration date. Gotta love the honesty! Quite heartbroken to learn that this place has been put on the market and may be gone soon. Boo hoo! We only just discovered this hidden gem. If this place does go, hope that we can squeeze in a few more visits before it's gone!

Even if you mention it to the cashiers they don't care and won't honour the price that was shown to the public. And looking at other reviews on google, this doesn't seem to be the first time. Imagine the shock if I didn't check the price and got home to an unexpected price tag. Even though extremely confusing, neither of the price tags shown were accurate for the item. The cashier didn't even apologize for the inaccurate pricing, honour it, or seem to change the price tag. It might be still cheap, but I hate being lied to, so I didn't buy it. Not coming back again! I don't care if it's cheaper than H mart! This will be the very first and very last time I come here. If you do decide to come, remember to check your receipt.

We took a quick browse through this place before heading to Sakuraya next door. Grabbed some…read moreonigiri and drinks for lunch. The onigiri they sell comes from Zenya which is in the food court at International Village. We got Tuna Mayo, Spicy Tuna Mayo and Salmon Mayo. Wasn't too impressed with the Salmon Mayo as it was mostly rice with barely any salmon filling. The Tuna ones were good though. Quite reasonably priced onigiri. It really is better though when you order it at Zenya as they make it fresh for you. This place is a Korean Market. There's another, slightly smaller Kim's Mart in South Burnaby. It's a good place to pick up Korean groceries. Ironically though, I have so far only bought onigiri and seaweed for making onigiri from Kim's Mart, and Onigiri is really more of a Japanese thing than a Korean thing. Ummm...we did buy some Aloe Vera juice from Kim's Mart a couple of times. I guess that's more Korean than Japanese! Anyways, good selection of Korean stuff even if we haven't actually bought much of it ourselves!

I saw this place on Instagram and knew right away that I needed to come and check this place out…read more So when a friend of mine suggested coming here for lunch I jumped at the opportunity to go. They have hot oden there and it's very reasonably priced. $7.95 for 7 pieces. They also have other hot foods there as well, such as croquettes and takoyaki. Some of it is kept warm and some of it they make fresh in the kitchen! I find most of their foods and drinks are quite reasonably priced. It really is the closest thing to an actual konbini store in Japan. (close, not quite) They don't have nearly the same selection as what you'd find in Japan. For over here in Vancouver though, this is a real gem. My oden was wonderful. Piping hot and everything nicely cooked. I chose a Grape flavored Calpico soda for my drink and it was only $2.30 for the bottle. I love how reasonably priced their food and drinks are, and that they do hot foods just like the konbini stores in Japan. For Vancouver, this is really a step up from places like Fujiya or Suzuya where you can get cold sushi and onigiri, but no hot foods like oden.

Parking is plentiful on the side streets. The place is mainly a convenience store selling mostly Japanese snacks, but they also have some staples, such as rice, and frozen foods. They have a small hot food stand, and sell some combos as well. Staff are friendly and quiet. Definitely plays into the Japanese stereotype. I tried a few items. Saba bento - 2 small pieces of saba on rice, with a separate bowl of salad. The pricing is quite low, and this is reflected in the really small portion size. Something to keep in mind. Fish tasted decent, and the salad was tasty. Takoyaki - not the freshest (they were from the hot display), but decent. Once again, really can't expect too much. Tuna mayo onigiri - pretty tasty, though it is a bit thinner than some of the other places I've seen around town. Good for getting authentic Japanese goodies, but for a larger selection, there is T&T a very short walk away.
