I need to update my review because my initial review said the burritos were small. I learned that the one burrito we ordered last time (Ruleta), which was very good, just happened to be the only one which is small. All the others on the menu say "extra large burrito." This time we got the Guadalajara as well as something with it and the waiter questioned because it was a lot of food. We were expecting a Ruleta size but "extra large" is extra large so he was right. Bottom line is I need to read the menu more carefully. This time we ate in the restaurant and the servers were very friendly. Jalapeño were great also, both fresh and pickled (see photo). read more

It's been a while since I've been to this restaurant. I had lunch today and had the beef fajitas, beans, rice and chips with salsa. The beef was like chewing leather. Hardly any onions and peppers in it. Needless to say, I won't be going back anytime soon. From now on, I'll be going to Maiz's in old town for fajitas. read more

Sub-par Mexican food, especially for a city with four "authentic" Mexican restaurants. A friend and I stopped for margaritas yesterday and I ordered carry-out. Our on-the-rocks margaritas had barely any salt. I realized after the fact I was overcharged. I ordered the tortilla soup from the appetizer list but was charged for the big ass soup. It was insanely bland. Chili's has a better tortilla soup. The chicken burrito gave me food poisoning. I'll spare you the details but it was really bad. :( I wouldn't come here again. Mi Zarape is a local favorite. The food is authentic, fresh & is well prepared. If you have littles who only eat the standard kid favorites, the children's menu has burgers/fries & chicken most would like. Even on the busiest nights meals arrive quickly and are as described. The staff is always friendly & their service is excellent too. Highly recommend their salsa & guacamole. We've ordered twice from Uber Eats now and it's been great! Food has arrived hot and they always give complimentary chips & salsa. Both times my husband has ordered a different burrito. Me and a party of 6 came here not long ago on a late night. We got there at 9 & we understood they closed at 10, we even called & asked if it was okay for a big party to come that late they said no problem but when we got there they seemed annoyed that we came. Our experience the rest of the night wasn't really good. There are a lot of Mexican eateries in the Saline/south Ann Arbor area but this is my preferred place. AUTHENTIC, low prices, and attentive service all hallmarks here. The $0.59 charge to use a credit/debit card is annoying but there's a note taped to the counter explaining why. Important: this is a locally-owned small business that is getting SCREWED by the banks and is not Taco Bell. I bring cash. The prices here are so reasonable, it is shameful to use a credit card anyway. The salsa is fantastic. For lunch, my favorites include Lunch plate #5, taco salad, or plate of three tacos with lettuce and cheese. In the four years that I have been coming here, I have NEVER had a bad meal. The bar selections are great but the only miss here is that the ice tea tastes like yak piss! (Not as if I actually know what yak piss tastes like...) My wife thought that Mi Zarape's Fish Tacos were among the best she'd ever had!...a nice endorsement for our first time on the door of this small Mexican restaurant tucked into a strip mall off Michigan Ave. just east of downtown Saline. Accompanying my ice cold margarita, I chose a combo plate of an enchilada and a taco and I have to say, the quality and taste were both excellent. The service was also above average with quick and attentive assistance with our dinner. My mom is very picky when it comes to restaurants that she will sit down and eat at. We chose this one last week for a family dinner. The table was clean, and not sticky. The menus were clean and also not sticky. The bathroom was well kept and managed. Which are all of her biggest complaints about new restaurants. The service was attentive, polite, and welcoming. He was very patient while we waited and battered back and forth about appetizers and drinks. We ordered the queso fundido which was very good. The guacamole was lacking other flavor. It was blended avocado in a cool chip bowl. The mango margarita was pretty good. We all ordered chimichangas or burritos. Split between chicken, beef, and shredded beef. I agree that this is not authentic mexican food. I also agree that it is most probably prepackaged. Having said that I will also say that, it was both tasty and flavorful. I certainly wouldn't make a special trip to eat here. But, if in the area I would most likely stop back. I do recommend giving the Texas Margarita a try. They are made with a hit of Grand Marnier and pack a punch that sneaks up. This is a third location that has opened, with the original being in Pontiac and another located in Southfield. Came here for the first time, and we enjoyed the food. Salsa was good with a touch of heat. Our entries were good. I deducted a star because they asked how we wanted our beef cooked... I wanted mine medium, my husband wanted his medium rare. They both came out well done. Despite this, we will come back here again. This is our go-to Mexican restaurant. It's a basic Mexican meal but very good flavor and quick/friendly staff. Great drink specials during the week. (Monday-Thursday) You can get a beer for a few dollars. I've ordered a few different things but my favorite is the burrito Cancun. It's filled with grilled shrimp, green peppers, and onions. Overall- clean, VERY quick, reasonable prices, and very good food. You will not be disappointed. Make sure to ask for a punch card too! read more

Went here with a large group from work for an outing and I was really excited to get authentic Mexican food. Sad to say I was really disappointed. Although they were very accommodating the food was just not that good. Before ordering our lunches a number of us decided to get margaritas. Figuring out the best way to get them was in a pitcher for my side of the table, we emphasized to get the pitcher for the 4 of us on our end but leave the glasses for the other end. Well, that didn't happen. They brought out one pitcher for 6 people to split. We didn't complain, as we probably caused the confusion. On top of that it was so artificial tasting I wondered what brand mix they bought so I can steer clear of that in the grocery store. It was bright green, overly sweet and lacking in booze. When we got our food it looked messy crammed on the small plate and not fresh. I got the chalupa, tostada and taco lunch combo and it sounded better than it tasted. Bland, completely bland. Good thing it was cheap because otherwise I would have sent it back. A few others in my group also said theirs lacked flavor.
