    Fresh salsa

Straight fire flames. Cheap and cheerful, packaged super well for delivery and the food was next-level good. Pico de gallo was super fresh and flavorful. Enchiladas were to die for. Tacos were great but I prefer flour tortillas (not their fault, forgot to ask if they had them). I tried carnitas, Al pastor, and Barbacoa. Barbacoa was the best but all were good. What's strange is that there's an upcharge for certain meats for the tacos but not the enchiladas. Portion size is very generous for the price ($14 for the enchiladas meal) and $3 a pop for the tacos. Green salsa was sooo good as well. I would 100% reorder, no doubt about it. Excellent food at good prices.

YUMMMMMMMMMM. If you like tacos then check this place out. I got it delivered for lunch and it was so good. Prices are decent and menu has lots of options.

    One gordito

I am charmed. Tmaz is unpretentious, underpromises, and overdelivers. The menu is made up of a few different basic options such as tacos, quesadillas, gorditos, and tortas, each of which can be made with a number of fillings. I went with one gordito al pastor, and I was blown away. The bread was so warm and fluffy, the cheese so melty, the pork so tender, and the veggies so fresh. It was a perfect snack for just $3.50, and three of those could easily constitute a hearty meal. The man working the counter told me that each individual component of every dish is made in-house, from the salsa to the beans. Speaking of, the salsa was so incredibly spicy and savory that I bought a tub on my way out. They have several veggies options and my wife loved her tacos (one grilled veggie, one mushrooms al pastor). I would spring at the opportunity to eat there again.

If it's a Wednesday night, most likely I'll be popping into TMAZ for a quick and satisfying dinner. Sometimes, you just need something quick, satisfying, and inexpensive. And for that trifecta of needs, I can think of no better option than TMAZ. But I wouldn't keep going back if the food wasn't delicious. Over my past several visits, I've honed in on some of my favorites. Like almost every taqueria, there are some fillings which are excellent, and some which aren't quite at the same level. My top choice is the al pastor. My daughter always goes for the carnitas. Have I had better pastor? Sure, but not in Ann Arbor. And sometimes the carnitas isn't quite up to snuff. But at $3 for an overstuffed taco, or $4 for a meat and cheese quesadilla, I'm not complaining. The tamales are tasty, although I"d pass on the pupusas. I've yet to try the tortas, but am looking forward to a sandwich one of these days. And the soups sound fantastic, for when the weather turns truly cold and bone chilling. But with friendly service, bargain prices, and a production system that can crank out your tacos at break neck speed, I am most definitely a fan.

Needs to do some more work on their prices. They are pretty high now and it's just not worth it for each taco to be so pricey...

Take a seat anywhere you like; we chose to sit at the bar. This is a well-equipped bar for such a casual setting: Dos Equis, Modelo, Bell's, and Sierra Rose hard cider. Waaaaay better than Chi-Chis (and any real Mexican restaurant I can think of, too). And, my wife ordered a margarita, and she loved it. Best of all, the price was very reasonable: $17 after tip for the margarita and a large Dos Equis. Food orders are placed at a separate counter, and they are ready quickly. A single fish taco is a good size, and only costs $4.75. The daily special is $10.29, and includes two tacos, rice, and beans, with a small up charge for the fish tacos. I feel like I've traveled back in time to the last century with these prices. The fish tacos are outstanding. The fish is freshly prepared, and not fried. You will want to get more than one to make it a meal, and the rice and beans in the combo are a nice complement. The rice could have used more seasoning, but this is easily corrected by mixing in some salsa. This is truly a wonderful find.

Rice isn't the best but better than other Mexican restaurants. I'm from South Texas, used to authentic Mexican food and I've been looking for some food like this in this area. The service is quick and the people are nice. Even when the line was long, it still didn't take that long. The seating area is small but it's nice and clean, they have music playing which I liked, I hate a place that's too quiet. Then the dessert area is amazing! My favorite is the Mango and Chamoy, so refreshing and exactly the flavor I look for when I see that flavor, unlike others that are very artificial. I'm big on ordering enough for multiple meals so I went with the nachos and a kid's steak quesadilla and got 3 meals out of the deal! The kid's portion came with two mini quesadillas and a side of rice and they were definitely generous with the steak portions! They had hearty chunks of steak, perfectly cooked and seasoned, surrounded by a nice melty cheese. Really tasty! For my nachos I went with the carnitas though I think they may have accidentally given me the al pastor as I bit into more than a few chunks of pineapple, which honestly was not my favorite when blended with the other elements of the nachos. I'd definitely get them again but I think I'd pick a different protein just in case. Probably the steak since it was so good in the quesadillas. I went through less than half of the nachos since they were a huge portion and tucked away the rest in the fridge for the next day. Sure, nachos don't always reheat great but I tossed mine under the broiler to crisp everything back up and then added some fresh chips on the side and it was perfect. I still had a few leftovers even after that and took the rest of it and added an egg on top for a makeshift chilaquiles dish! Pretty good! My one regret was not trying the churros but I'll definitely be doing that the next time!

A small taco shop in a nondescript strip mall, Miny's is turning out some seriously impressive and authentic tacos on par with places I love in Southern California. My friends and I swung by around dinnertime and while it was not crowded, there was a steady flow of customers and take-out orders. There is no dining area, but there are tables outside where one can sit and eat. I ordered 3 tacos: al pastor, cabeza, and Cameron, with spicy salsas on the side. The total was about ~$13. The first thing that stood out to me was the size. These were some hefty tacos, lovingly double-wrapped in pliable, warm, corn tortillas and neatly packaged for takeout. Salsa can be hit or miss but the salsas here were SO GOOD. Made in-house, they add the perfect moisture and flavor to each bite. Their green salsa has a mild, tingling kick, and tastes very rich and refreshing. The orange creamy salsa, however, stole the show. It is spicier than the green, and has a super addicting smokiness that enhances, but doesn't overpower, every bite. I was bright red and sweating but could not put this salsa down. The al pastor taco was my favorite. Sweet, soft, smoky pork with the crunch and freshness of onions and cilantro, drenched in the above salsas, simply divine! I wish it had come with pineapple for a pop of sweetness, but it was still a super good taco. I was thrilled to see that Miny's offered cabeza and lengua, as they are cuts of meat less familiar to the average American diner. I opted for cabeza and was greeted with a pile of soft, collagen-rich meat, bursting with juice and oil. The meat by itself is definitely a bit bland so the salsas did the heavy lifting in terms of flavor. The gooey-soft texture though, that was all due to the perfectly cooked meat. This was a pricier taco than the Al pastor, and there was definitely a bit less meat than in the Al pastor, but still a very good taco. The shrimp taco impressed me the least. The shrimp were unseasoned and looked to be boiled. While bouncy and tender cooked in this way, I prefer the char and juiciness of grilled shrimp in my tacos. In addition, I tend to expect my seafood tacos to have a slaw on them, versus the standard onions and cilantro. With the salsas, this taco was fine, but I would not order it another time. A very healthy but uninspired taco. Overall, for where it's located and what it is, Miny's does some amazing tacos, though I will probably skip the seafood ones next time. I will be DREAMING of that orange salsa, and now understand why on their menu, they sell it by the carton.
