I wish there were more than five stars to give MIA. Particularly Samantha and Britany. The experience was calm and friendly and we were greeted with mimosas and desserts. The sizes were curvy girl friendly (I'm a size 10 in regular clothes) and Samantha made me feel like I could fit everythingggg. The options were plentiful and if you're looking for something modern, you'll find it here. I tried on the dress at 11:30 and put my down payment by 2. I reached out in regards to booking a bridal appointment and they emailed me basically stating that they only have dresses from size 10-12. Just to confirm, I asked "are you basically saying that if I'm a size 14-16 in dresses, you don't have anything for me to try?"....No reply. I just believe that a bridal shop should have size range and no bride should be turned away if she doesn't meet those parameters. Came here with my sister in law for her appointment to try on some gowns. The woman that was assisting her was very rude and so stuck up. I don't understand how you can be a bridal consultant with her attitude and not helping her get dressed. She was also extremely racist and discriminatory towards my aunt because she wears a headscarf. Had an appt here for my sister in law and the appt was at noon but we ran behind schedule due to the construction on the highway. So we notified the consultant about us running behind schedule and she said ok. Once we got to the shop I got bad vibes from the consultant and I was right. She was outright rude to my sister in law, did not help her out with putting on the dresses, she would let us know that the dresses that were over budget would not be a good idea to put on but we told her we wanted her to try them on and she was just rude about it. Not only is Mia's intimate, not overwhelming, and you don't feel like a number in the least bit, but the consultants are personable, greet you by your first name, have the biggest most genuine smile and know what works on what body types and skin tones. I worked with Sarah my first (and only) dress search trip and was pleasantly surprised with her professionalism and eye for bridal beauty. She made me feel special and calm and beautiful (and I was definitely not at my goal weight then). The selection is like a fairytale. Walls of blush and ivory tulle and satin greet you like a warm hug. The accessories are dripping everywhere, adding sparkle here and there. 2 sections (1 on the left and 1 on the right side of the parlor) each with a large 3-part mirror and pedestal, each hosting 1 bride at a time (best part...they don't crowd the place with 100 people, heck 10 people). This is where I found my dress. I have worked hard to lose weight, and still have 35 lbs left to go. Dress shopping had been so difficult--most places were pushing dresses that made me feel like a cloud or oversized cotton ball. Despite having lost a lot of weight, every dress I had tried on in other places was making me hate my body image. In so many ways, gowns wore me. Other places sold a-lines on me hard. To be fair, A-line was more of what I asked for. I mentioned I wanted a dress that was easy to move in, and expressed my concerns with mobility in fitted gowns. At Mia's, Melanie asked me to try on a more fitted gown. She pushed me to explore beyond my inhibitions, and it paid off handsomely. She pulled in a dress that was truly flattering for my figure. (NO ONE thought I could really pull that off before.) Melanie asked questions to get to my personality, and made sure I was picking a dress that still felt like me. No where else had pushed me to try a fitted gown or tried to get the dress that fit me, as a whole. She was not pushy, either. This felt like excellent probing and guidance to the dress that suited me best. They took great care of me and the friend and family member that came along with. To top things off, when we had a serious discussion about budget, she worked with me to get the dress to a price that made me feel really good about getting the dress with them. I am grateful to Melanie and Sarah for their service and assistance in finishing what had been a daunting, overwhelming, and generally deflating undertaking. General Advice: Take a deep breath. I sat down with Melanie Jackson at Mia bridal and reviewed my budget and what style dress I was looking for. As we started looking around she only allowed me to pull 4 dresses to try on. After only trying on my first dress she wanted to immediately buy it. She was so pushy. You can tell she only cared about the commission she was potentially going to make. I didn't feel comfortable and she went as far as to say why am I scared to buy the dress. I have been to about 4 places and I never experienced anything like that. I felt like I was at a shady car dealership. I will never recommend any person shopping for a dress there. The dress was very beautiful and in my budget. We had an appointment with Melanie yesterday at Mia to shop for my sisters wedding dress. We did NOT enjoy our experience. We first experienced the two employees whispering while my sisters and I were browsing the shop and it made me feel uneasy. Then it seemed my sister was only allowed to try on a maximum of 4 dresses which is absurd. We actually found a dress we really liked but Melanie was extremely pushy. She wanted my sister to make a decision on the spot. My sister said she wanted to go home and speak with her fiancé about it and Melanie continued to pressure her and said, "oh, are you scared to say yes". She also wanted my sister to call her fiancé on the spot to confirm with him about the dress. She was so pushy that is was making us all feel so uncomfortable. It is unfortunate that bad customer service deterred us from buying from them. read more

I am convinced it was fate that brought me to Mia Bridal Couture. I was stuck between two dresses and I could not decide between either of them even if my life depended on it. Then I kept seeing an ad for Pronovias on my Facebook newsfeed and I thought that was odd since I never looked at or tried on Pronovias before, but I loved the lace appliqué and illusion design in the photo and decided to explore the designer. I browsed the website and fell in love with an Atelier Pronovias dress, but then my next obstacle was to find a bridal salon that carried this couture line in Houston. Only two salons popped up on the location finder in Texas - zero in Houston, but I was determined. I called Mia Bridal Couture and not only did they carry the line, but they did have the dress to try on! I made an appointment with ease and I was lucky to have Sarah as my consultant. She understood me even through my indecisiveness and I never felt pressured. I made two more visits here to try on the dress again and each time Sarah was very understanding and helpful. I ended up saying yes to the dress at Mia and we celebrated with champagne! The boutique is beautiful and there are big windows so you can get great natural lighting. I had such an amazing experience at mia bridal! I had been all over and tried on so many different dresses and Brittany and Sarah helped me pick out the dress for me! I was able to try on multiple dresses and no one pressured me at all. They made me feel so comfortable with my choice. After my first appt I told Brittany I had to handle a few things since I'm from New York and had to make sure my family loved the dress and she was super accommodating. Great selection of dresses and Friendly, knowledgable staff. The assistant helped me figure out the difference between mermaid and trumpet. For all of you who can't figure out the difference in pictures, mermaid is fitted all the way to your knees and goes out while trumpet flares out around your mid thigh. Mermaid is supposedly hard to walk in. No thanks to mermaid! Although I didn't find my dress here, the assistant was friendly. My mom, sister, and niece (4 years old) came and the staff was nice to them all. They didn't mind at all that my niece came and I was very happy about that. She was well behaved and absolutely loved ALL the dresses. ha ha. It was adorable. I also found out which dress and style I was looking for. She explained to me what I liked and I didn't even realized it! That is very, very helpful. I am horrible with knowing what is what on dresses, and the assistant did not mind explaining it to me. So rude on the phone and unprofessional. There were road closures and then I got lost trying to get there because of the road closures so I called them to let them know I was running 5 mins behind schedule. Only 5 minutes and they just said I had to reschedule. I had family members come out of town to see my try on dresses. Later I found out they had a trunk show and that is why they couldn't even hear me on the phone and they were running behind schedule. I had an amazing experience at Mia Bridal. I will recommend this store to all of my friends! Mia was the 2nd shop out of the three that I visited and my experience here far exceeded that of the other 2 bridal stores I went to. Half of the reason I went with the dress that I did was due to the calming and enjoyable atmosphere that I experienced at Mia. At one of the other stores I felt the consultant wasn't as helpful/knowledgeable and the other store the consultants were just WAY too pushy. Rachel was my consultant and I loved her! I had some dresses in mind that I wanted to try on going into my appointment, but I ended up getting a dress by a designer I had never heard of that Rachel had shown me. I really liked that she let me form my own opinion about the dress before saying anything and that she would ask me what I liked and didn't like about the dress. She was super helpful without being loud and pushy. My mom, my sister and I had so much fun during my appointment with them and I can't wait to come back for my first fitting! Tip: I am so glad that I booked by appointment early in the morning (9:30am). The store wasn't very busy and there was plenty of available mirrors and space for me to walk around in the dresses I was trying on. When I came back in at 2:30 to officially say yes to the dress, the store was packed with people who had brought large parties with them and was very loud & crowded. I would recommend booking your bridal appointments earlier in the day if you can help it! read more

I had an appointment at Mia Bridal Houston in mid September and heard great things so I was very excited. I was flying in from Barcelona, Spain, where I live permanently, that weekend and this would be one of my first wedding dress trying experiences. The place is really cozy, the dresses are beautiful, full of lace and bling but definitely NOT for the modern bride, like me. I just couldn't find anything that clicked with me. My experience with the consultant ( I wont say her name because I wont be that person and will just assume she was having a bad day) was not that great. Although she was semi- knowledgeable, I think she was new to the bridal scene because she definitely did not know how to handle the appointment and was extremely pushy with every single dress I tried. She barely gave me the time to think about each dress before asking how I felt and if it was the one or not. I have been working in sales all my professional life and she was way too obvious trying to close me on the spot with zero empathy. The worse was seeing my family seeing me uncomfortable and it was just not a fun experience. One thing that I wont forget was how much she kept looking at her watch, every 5 minutes, as if she was in a hurry to get somewhere. At the end of the appointment we asked her to write on a card what the dress reference was and she couldn't even do that. She just wrote ¨ crop top and skirt¨... I mean come on girl, you have tons of crop tops and skirts in your shop. Very careless attitude. It was the second place that day for dress trying and I felt so discouraged after that appointment. If you are looking for more knowledgeable, less pushy staff and a more FUN appointment, I would suggest you go elsewhere. read more

She was phenomenal - very friendly and personable - my whole appointment felt like I was hanging out with a friend, professional, and really listened to what I was looking for in a dress. The dresses were very lovely but not spectacular ( for me)... very traditional, conservative and I felt like I had seen them many times. I actually looked at their Instagram and I saw many gorgeous ones that weren't there when I was visiting this past weekend. Maybe just bad timing. The one thing that bothered me and my bridal crew was how rushed we felt during my appointment. It was the second one ever for me, I'm a newbie and flew from Europe to have these appointments since I am planning from far away and need to get this done asap. The lady was nice, pleasant and informative but most of the time it didn't seem she was genuinely interested. During the whole appointment she kept looking at her watch and it made me feel so rushed and annoyed. She kept pushing me to get in and out of dresses. Asking me questions in order to close me quickly ( I have worked in sales all my professional life and I know exactly what she was trying to do). Once I was dressed she had disappeared and that was that. I wont say her name because I don't want to be that person. I'm just going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say she was having a bad day. I felt flustered at the end but it is just the second appointment of many so i'll just say it is all a fun experience, . I had a great experience here! I looked in Austin without success and this was my first stop in Houston. They had a great selection of dresses at different price points! I ended up finding a dress I loved! I spent nearly an hour in it at the end of my appointment, trying on different accessories etc and was never rushed! In fact, I stayed well past my appointment time. I had booked several more appointments for the day/weekend so I ultimately wanted to keep looking to make sure. I ended up coming back the next week and buying that dress, this was by far the best experience I had shopping for dresses. We went here for my friend to try on wedding dresses and it was fantastic. They're a bit pricier, but the consultant was extremely helpful and worked with our price point. My friend needs alterations to make her dress more conservative and they had so many suggestions for ways to alter gowns but still make her look beautiful. They were also able to help us find something on shorter notice. There are only 4 months until my friend's wedding and they helped to find dresses that could be ordered in plenty of time to get it in and altered. I also love that they have a variety of accessories, veils, and even bouquets laying around to complete the picture. And champagne was a great addition to a fun afternoon of shopping. read more

Brittney was an absolute sweetheart - she was sincere, genuine, kind, went way out of her way to help me. She offered me the best price I could find for the sample, since my wedding is fast approaching (no time to order), and even contacted the designer personally to get the missing beads for me! The salon was beautiful and the staff was helpful and nice. My appointment was with Samantha, and she was fantastic. She went out of her way to let me try on every style and figure out what's right. She pulled out amazing little sleeve add-ons and arranged them for me. I've been to about 4 salons and she was by far the best at adjusting the standard sized sample dresses to my figure that I've ever worked with. This makes a huge difference in being able to see how the dress will look! I would highly recommended Samantha to anyone. Rachel was so sweet and super knowledgeable about the dresses in the store. She was able to pull dress after dress that fit with my vision and price point. Through no fault of Rachel's or the store itself, I didn't find my dress here because I had fallen in love with another dress at a previous store. I visited close to 10 bridal shops before my future mother-in-law found an ad for Mia in a magazine. She called and they were happy to see us right away. I was blown away by the beautiful selection of gowns, but even more impressed with Amanda and the stylists. They made me feel at home and picked up on my style and taste right away. I came into this store after hearing alterations on my dress (not bought here) was going to be much higher than expected. I've always wanted to come in this place and it was on my way home. Also, I'm still looking for a cover up/ possible additions to my dress for the wedding.... NONE of which will be bought at this store. Now granted, I was in a funk, hearing that alterations on an expensive gown that fit when I bought it (but since lost about 2 dress sizes of weight.. yeah me!) did not put me in a good mood. While looking around I told the retail girl what had happened to which she just responded with snarky remarks about what a mistake I made in buying my dress and how Mia would have sized me correctly, etc etc, but too late now, my wedding is approaching to quickly... to bad... I cannot believe I was treated this way. She had no helpful suggestions, like consider this seamstress, or even ask what she could help me with. Ok, fine.... I can deal with that. However the continued degrading was unacceptable. I don't know why the lack of professionalism or kindness but I will never return here and also tell my friends looking for a gown not to bother. There are just too many good, helpful places in the city to bother with Mia. In comparison, after I left Mia I went to a different bridal store in which I bought $400 in additions to my dress which will change the look AND got a great suggestion for a second opinion on alterations. Now, even if I do spend the big bucks altering my dress (with someone who I KNOW would do an excellent job), I'm SO excited about how its going to look! I honestly don't even know where to begin with my review. My consultant, Rachel, was absolutely amazing! This was my second store to shop for my gown and I thought that I already found "the one". I was very upfront and honest and told Rachel when I first got there, but she was SO incredibly sweet and told me not to worry because trying on dresses is still fun even if I already found my dress! She listened to what I wanted and didn't have me try on anything out of my price range. I would like to add that I also had a large group attend with me and everyone (all seven of them) at least pulled one dress for me to try on. Rachel even told one of them that she wouldn't have me try on a specific dress because it was out of the budget range I gave her (my mom later told me this and I was so thankful). The second dress that I tried one was one that Rachel pulled for me to try on.... I starting saying OH my gosh a hundred times before she even finished zipping me up! I couldn't believe it, but I was floored and my emotions were all over the place. She asked me if I had any type of veil in mind, but I asked her to pick something out that she thought would look best with the dress. I absolutely loved what she put together and purchased the veil along with the dress. Trust me when I say this, give your consultant a chance to help you pick things out because they know what they're doing and can give you fantastic options. I really let Rachel take the lead and I recommend that to any bride!! After hearing my family and friends gush over my new choice, Rachel asked us if we would like some champagne to celebrate! How sweet and kind? This was so exciting and Rachel did a fantastic job accommodating all of the women I brought and still listened to what I wanted. One final point... Once I was done with getting sized, one of my very best friends and bridesmaids asked me if I would mind if she tried on a gown that she had been eyeing before we entered the store. She had seen it in magazines and even sent it to me in a text a while back. She is in fashion and is one of my best friends (she has been dating her boyfriend for over four years, so her turn is quickly approaching). I was actually thrilled when she asked me because I was happy to not have all the attention on me for a little bit...no one tells you that this experience can be a little overwhelming and exhausting! Rachel was very kind and came back in the fitting room to double check with me that I was 100% fine with her trying on a dress. I thought that this was very considerate of her, and I am sure that some people would feel uncomfortable with that, but I had no problem with it! Rachel even helped her get in and out of the dress after finishing up with me. I can't say enough great things about this store. They have a very wide variety of gowns and accessories available and can be budget friendly, but you just need to tell them upfront! THANK YOU MIA BRIDAL!!! This place first of all has a limited choice of dresses. Second, my consultant after I asked for champagne said "only if you say yes to the dress." What kind of bridal boutique does not offer champagne while trying to find a wedding dress?? Apparently they did not have enough champagne for my party. I had booked months in advance and told them the people I was bringing with me. Needless to say they lost a sale and I am definitely not recommending Mia to my friends that are recently engaged. read more
