I did my request to start a new service on 5/18/26 I haven't heard anything yet, however they did stop the previous owners service. Is it too much to ask that someone does a quick search before terminating service to see if the new resident requested a start? I believe that is called a seamless transition? Could be a whole thing? The site says 2-5 business days. I understand it's day 4 as of this review. Having said that I was able to set up power in about 15 min. To included deposit and auto pay. I put a star because I couldn't express less than that. Today I called miami dade water and sewer department to explain that I wasn't able to access my current account (with the new address where I moved 3 months ago) and this agent named: Sandy picked up the phone and when I started giving her the reason for my call, she just cut me off and didn't let me finish my explanation so she mistakenly assumed I was calling to complain I hadn't received my water service since I moved. I explained to her again and she still kept cutting me off and with the small parts I could tell her I told her I didn't even have my current account number. And she just said in a very rude and incompetent way: just let me give it to you now. I told her I was trying explain the reason but she didn't let me. So when she gave me the account number I just told her: Listen, I was trying to explain to you the reason for my call and you were cutting me off, I always explain the reason for my call in every call I do to any department or company (it's obvious). So she said: yes, but you were talking too much and saying too much information. And I repeated the same thing to her and she was going to be rude once again and I just hung off and let her talking alone. MIAMI DADE WATER AND SEWER CUSTOMER SERVICE: What kind of service is this?? Miami Dade water and sewer is such a scam. My mother passed away and they showed up to remove my water meter, all while I was still paying for the bill and living in the same home. They told me I had to change it over to my name. Well, changing the account to my name was $168. That should be illegal. Our county, city, state and government are the real scam artists. read more

On 1/5/26 we woke up to no water. A crew was outside changing out a water main pipe. Although the inept, incompetent, corrupt and arrogant "directors" of this cluster mess will not mess around with collections or allowing water remittance for pools, they'll do this type of inconvenience with nary a polite warning! I have called numerous times to receive a payment extension on a extremely high amount for water. As this was my fault ad I had numerous leaks. I have spoken to numerous call reps, as well to a supervisor. They have all been rude, cannot understand any issues that are explain to them. They lack customer service skills and compassion. Horrible company, the only one to use for water(which is needed) By all standards you have to wail til someone calls you back for payment arrangement's, an you have to wait for a SUPVISOR calls you back!!!!! Terrible. Absolutely terrible. They hold you hostage in a spiked water bill threatening to send you to collections while the bill is being investigated. They sent out a technician to "check" the meter, which they claim there's nothing wrong with it. I was charged $800 for water on my rental that was vacant. Absolutely ZERO water usage from April - August, then I get a spiked bill saying I used 35,000 gal of water. They claim someone stole my water with no proof of that. Unless my neighbor is Spiderman to scale 6' my wooden fence, I sincerely doubt that my water was stolen. There are NO leaks in the house. I had an inspection done. They said I owe it, end of discussion. No payment plan, no nothing. There are complaints all over the internet about Miami Dade Water and Sewer .There are complaints with the Better Business Bureau about cases like mine, on Help Me Howard, on Channel 6 news, on Yelp... I mentioned this to the representative. He said those are all lies. He said if they give me a credit, then everyone would be requesting credits. I asked for a supervisor, and was denied to be transferred. In the end, I'm going to have to pay for it knowing I got scammed and screwed by the county. read more

If I could give no stars I would 2 weeks ago after calling several times and finally connecting with someone called Yanelys (not sure if I'm spelling that right) I get put on with a girl that was more worried about picking up her cell phone that was ringing or texting then actually helping me. She put me on eternal hold and I mean eternal hold . she came back on the phone I guess to see if I was still on the line and then would put me on hold once again. Finally she came back and said she couldn't help me and to email customer services or go in Person. What is the purpose in having a customer services line if she wasn't willing to help me and was more worried about answering her personal phone. I had to drive 45 min out of my way and go in person to resolve something that according to the person I spoke with which was amazing her name was Keeshana she said it could've been handled over the phone. I haven't dealt a lot with WASD in the past but this experience has definitely the worst. Lesson learned never calling again. read more

Called to dispute an incorrectly spiked bill (they claim we had zero water usage the last two months and are now charging us for three months of usage as if it all happened in the current month). The whole process took over an hour, and of course nothing got resolved. There's no way to talk to a supervisor, there's no way to send an email, they won't call us after they investigate, there's no direct extension to the person who spoke with us today. And of course if we don't pay the scam of a bill, they'll hit us with a late charge, cut off our water, and probably cite us with some zoning violation for not having water. read more

Miami Dade Water & Sewer (MDWS) turns off water to effect meter change without notice to homeowner!! This morning at around 11:00am I turned on my kitchen tap and there was no water flowing so I checked the bathrooms in the house and also discovered that the water had been turned off. I begin to panic thinking that I may have forgotten to pay the bill but when I checked my files, I found that the bill due on 9/15/22 had been paid on 9/3/22 and I had the confirmation number. When my neighbours told me that they had water, I went outside to see if there was a problem at the water shut off valve and was just in time to see a MDWS van parked behind my car. There was a tech who told me that he had turned off the water to change the meter and that he had just turned it back on. This is extremely poor customer service! FPL could provide MDWS training in this area as whenever there is a planned outage FPL notifies us in advance. Water is even more essential than power and so we expect that we would be notified whenever there is going to be a planned disruption of service. read more

If you want to hear "please continue to hold and a representative will be with you as soon as possible" repeatedly for about 30-40 minutes.... with this creepy sounding music between each announcement, then call their so-called "Customer Service" number. P.S. The representative did not answer my call "as soon as possible" as they promised ... in fact, they never did! I waited on "IGNORE" from 3:20 to 4:00 p.m. I finally got the hint and hung up. I have battled the rude customer service reps and fought this organization on 2 occassions for leak credits unsucessfully despite providing all rhe necessary doucmentation required to substantiate my claims. absolutely horrible. i have a 2300 dollar water bill due to an underground leak. have sent an application with pictures as requested. nothing gets done but become denied. have tried gettting in contact over the phone as well in order for an inspection to get done on the property to get this over with. then to be insulted by a woman on the phone. claiming that i cut her off, do not let her speak, etc. when i am nothing if not respectful. ive reviewed the process for an underground leak creditand i seem top know the process better than the actual representative. horrible customer service, no respect whatsoever. and refuse to work with clients. i dont know how many times ive attempted to get someone out here to inspect and they literally do nothing. read more

The worst public utilities company ever. Have been disputing a high bill for the past 2 months. I intially spoke with a supervisor who was suppose to correct the bill only to have the same bill reissued. Called back & was told to pay a certain amount & a credit would be issued on the difference. Well they took my payment & the credit was never issued. Subsequently I received a final notice on the " supposed" credit amount. Called back & was hung up on twice & never transferred to a supervisor on my 3rd attempt. When you call WASD's customer service at 305-665-7477 don't expect knowledgeable or helpful county employees. They read from a script and can't deviate from it. The only thing they can say is "you owe money." There is no help from customer service only robotic $ collectors. read more

When water pressure came low, we call, I said we because many people did, some man in the emergency Dept. of W and S, he said his name is Julio no last name, answer said: you sure close the water entrance, and get mad when I said no, at last in a nasty way he send some body. She didn't let me finish my question and said : "Miss, I ALREADY told you that....", when I even did not make my question, she was supposing wrong. It sends customers paperwork encouraging them to "go green" and register the account online yet no where on line or the "customer service" agents inform you that you will need to give the MDWS your Social Security number to be able to register the account on line. It's absolutely pathetic that in the 21st century, one of the largest municipalities in the US has to rely on snail mail to deliver billing notices. I find it highly unethical to cut off a vital human requirement (water) to consumers without any reasonable attempt to provide notification. Purely disgraceful. The individual that came to our residence to choke off our water supply claims to have left a note according to notes in the office computer system. I highly doubt it. We were all (4 of us) sitting in the front living area along with a hair trigger dog with super sonic hearing. If this worker even set foot on our front walk, much less touched our door, the dog would have went ballistic. Perhaps the light rain was too much for this worker to make the ethical, moral walk to the front door. Having spoken to one customer service rep twice , another one once, a supervisor there and a supervisor of the cut off (field) crew, I have to wonder how economical this decision to cut our water off actually was. Apart from all the customer service phone time, to include supervisors, they spent the time to cut off the water and they are going to have to spend time to come back to turn it back on (in the dark of night and in the rain). Our late fee was actually refunded so this incredibly stupid, thoughtless act caused a lot of problems for everyone and didn't really even benefit WASD. We had a brief conversation with the night field crew that was restoring our service who said: "Yeah, we get that a lot.." when they were told about how the sneaky daytime field guy cut off the water without the slightest attempt to contact us. My snail mail routinely gets delivered to our neighbor's house on the next block. I am thinking that's what happened to our billing notice. I've been reminded repeatedly by customer service that this isn't their problem. I agree. Making the incredibly stupid decision to cut the water off instead of knocking on the door became both our problems. Government incompetence at its worst. Unethical, immoral and inefficient. just so everyone is aware on what is going on with miami dade water department. my neighborhoods and i have been receiving extremely high water bills. it's only a few select customers and i mean water bills of $300.0 to 1,157.00. one neighbor received a bill for $0. most of these people either live alone and work or 2 people in their household. me, i live alone and work 7 days per week, received a water bill for the $1,157.00. i am hardly even home. i don't cook or do laundry at home. i eat out and have my laundry done out also, but just the same the water department ruled against me and i have to pay the extremely high water bill. i opted for an administrative hearing, and as you can guess they ruled i had to pay it without the proof i brought to the hearing (the neighbors bills and my past water bills for the last 5 year that has never been above $55.00). the administrator wouldn't even look at them. so beware everyone the miami dade water company can say you used all the water they want to and even though it's not true you have to pay it!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Dear MDWS - have you never heard that to err is human? In 10 years of availing of your services, one bill fell through the cracks and we were late on our payment. Did you give us a stern but friendly warning? No - instead one of your stalwart henchman came and shut off our water, helpfully leaving a fake-polite customer service notecard on our door which created much consternation when we brought our toddler and preschooler home from daycare. We called, paid up, and were told that water would be restored by 11PM. Midnight came and went - no water. Called MDWS emergency - only to be told too bad, the next crew will handle it. Or possibly the next one. So sorry (not sorry). One unpaid bill in a decade and a basic human amenity is cut off without warning and to the extreme discomfort of a family with small children. What's the inspiration for your punitive measures, MDWS - 19th century Russian literature?
