This review converted from a 1 star to a 5 star because of Cole, the manager. I'm a seasoned comedy consumer with plenty of experience buying tix for comedy shows online. I'm legally disabled so I had gone to the check in area to ask for a seat that could accommodate me. Lo and behold I was told that the tix I bought clicking through the comedian's video were not for his show but for some other random show. I still don't know what happened. The show was sold out and it was looking like we weren't getting in at all, much less an accommodating seat. Cole offered us a free drink to wait at the bar, they seated everyone and then he seated us in great seats near the restroom as requested. The seat was comfortable and I'm so grateful to Cole for stepping in to address the whole problem. The drinks were good and the bartender and our server were also great. The opener and Dustin the headliner were both wonderful. It was a fun night out. Thanks Cole! P.S. Mic Drop Comedy opened in Kearny Mesa area of San Diego in May 2022. I was taken here on a Friday night date (6/24). I love the atmosphere and vibe. The bar is to the left as soon as you talk in - and someone will escort you to the show area on the right after tickets are purchased and validated. The comedy show that night was Ali Macofsky. Went to the Mic Drop's first comedy drag brunch bingo hosted by FIF Productions yesterday and had the best time! My friends and I love bingo. We are like 70 year old ladies and are always ready to get cutthroat to win. Hehe. We arrived when the doors opened and were seated near the stage. We ordered cocktails and food which were all reasonably priced. Drinks had a perfect pour and the food was extremely tasty. They have a good offering for both food and drinks which I prefer to a menu the size of a Bible. I ordered the nachos, friend, Celtic, ordered the french toast, and friend, Vic ordered the breakfast tacos. It was the best way to start a day of drinking which is what we knew was going to happen when the day began. The Kings and Queens were outstanding especially the MC Clitus Black who was absolutely hysterical. Clitus and the show's order ran together so great. They started the first drag number around 1:30 which gave everyone time to eat and drink and for the servers to clear away the debris. In between numbers Clitus would return to the straightforward bingo with some good comedy. My friends and I cheered and laughed until our sides and faces hurt. It was the best Sunday funday and I cannot wait for the next drag event at Mic Drop. Well done and keep it up! read more

The entry tickets were cheap which was cool so I'll start with that. But I bought tickets for a group of 8 and paid an additional $150 for a package because it ensured a "reserved table" ... turns out, there were no seating options without a table so I thought that was silly. There was no need to buy the package. At the end, the server tried to charge me full price for everything at first, as if I didn't have a package. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe it wasn't.. who knows. Seemed weird because the server tried to get me to run my card without bringing me an itemized receipt so it almost seemed like she was trying to hide what she was charging me for. But I asked for an itemized receipt and I caught it. I wasn't a fan of the ambiance.. seemed old and run down. But maybe that's why tickets were cheap? The main person we went to see was Brittany Schmitt. She did like 20 straight minutes of suicide jokes and no one laughed and it was honestly really sad and depressing. Like no one goes to a comedy club to be legitimately depressed and saddened (quite the opposite actually). Dark humor should still be funny. She should have read the room after her first attempt at a suicide joke and stopped when no one laughed, but she kept going... and going... and goingggg. It was horrible. The girl who performed before her was hilarious though but I can't remember her name. There were a couple funny comedians. Anyways, I probably won't go back. read more

Fun environment but we were so cramped in to one little area it was not comfortable. Our service was good up until we got a waiter assigned to us. The women with dreads was so rude and was ignoring her co workers questions she kept walking past with a horrible horrible attitude. Our waiter was an African American women she offered terrible service aswell- our drinks were wrong and she never came back to ask us if we wanted another round or even food? She rudely interrupted my husband and when he proceeded to order his drink and says "I NEED A CARD ON FILE" in an extremely rude manor. I did not enjoy my time here. They cram you inside the space to a point where the servers cannot even walk around and deliver your food and drinks. We sat in the far right wall. I had to move side to side to get a view of the comedians. Worst of all is watching Margaret Cho. Her jokes were mostly about politics and how we're in worst shape as a country and Kamala should've won. Haha.. that was funniest thing she said that night. Kamala as a president.. she couldn't even handle being VP!!! She also joked about Charlie Kirk and she called Erika Kirk starting to look like the bride of Chucky. You call yourself a comedian!! Your material sucks!!! She had to resort to using a man who was assassinated for speaking only the truth and his mourning wife. I can't believe I paid money to listen to evil!! For Pride month, a friend and I went here for the Pride Bunch comedy show. It was great to support a local business and comedians. The lineup were comedians from different backgrounds and some traveled from LA to do the show. Great time, great performance between the acts, and I laughed a lot. We got free tickets to come back. I've been here about 5 times this year for different shows. My favorite shows hands down were Martin Armini and Margaret Cho. The venue is small but big enough for groups and great view of the stage no matter where you are seated. Drinks and food are overpriced and underwhelming but I love the VIP tickets and reserved seating. Parking is also easy making this one of my favorite entertainment venues due to size and the line up of great shows. I recently signed up for the email list and got free tickets to a show and was able to take family who were visiting. Go for the headliners and special events!!! I've been to larger comedy shows in SD and it wasn't as good because the venues were larger. Hopefully getting tickets to another show soon but waiting for technical support with their website. read more

ONE STAR FOR SCAM CHARGING!! I'm not going to judge them on the performance of the comedians the place itself is pretty comfortable but this time I was charged over $20 for nachos which included about 15 little half soggy chips, NINE DOLLARS for one soda (as much a a mixed lemonade! Was NOT expecting that), and then the tip screen on their machine said based on original price of xyz, but they don't tell you that that already includes a 4% service charge which means they scammed an extra tip out of me thank God I asked for a receipt and have proof. I will probably be talking to the Better Business Bureau for deception because they did not ask me to tip on the original price like IT SAID, they asked me to tip on an inflated lie!! Like others have said mixed experience here. The comedy was absolutely great.They have really done a good job at selecting talent. The bad review comes from the fact that the food is so ungodly overpriced and so little value. For a tiny plate of nachos with little whisps of meat we were charged $28! Add on a salad and two sodas and a tip and our total was over $100 and we were still hungry when we left. :( Honestly the price gouging for the food is insane here. Absolutely LOVED Steven Ho! 5 stars for him! What I was NOT thrilled about is that their actual tables/seating was designed for 4 people per table. So if you're a couple, you will be seated with 2 other strangers at the same table. The tables are impossibly small. So small in fact, that you will inevitably be forced into the aisles because others at the table will have overtaken more than their share of the "space" and therefore the serving staff will incessantly scold you for being in the aisles when there is literally no place to go! Secondly, we were quite literally packed in to this place like sardines. As I scanned the room I couldn't help but wonder what the maximum occupancy was for the venue and if it was approved by the Fire Marshal Inspector. Lastly, don't bother with the fancy fruity drinks. We ordered one in a glass tea-kettle looking pitcher, paid a premium for it, and it honestly tasted like breakfast juice. No alcohol could be detected. Save yourself a bundle and pass on these drinks. We will absolutely not return to this venue. read more

Went here to see Andrew Dice Clay. They had some good food and a really nice alcohol menu with signature drinks of their own. They even give some tickets for you you to come back if you're the designated driver. That was really awesome as most places don't acknowledge them. The carne asada fries were much better than anticipated. Also got the charcuterie plate which was okay. The food and drinks were definitely pricey tho for what it is. But that's usually the case with venues. The venue was small and intimate and really awesome to see a big name like Dice. The security I felt was a little much for me tho. They spoke to nearby guy about not whistling, but myself and everyone around him didn't hear him doing that. This was a lovely way to spend a Friday evening! The comedians were hilarious and we didn't have to wait very long to get seated. They have a pretty large drink menu but I was sad to see they only have one food item (lumpia) and unfortunately, the lumpia wasn't very tasty (tasted like frozen lumpia heated back up in the oven) hence the -1 star. They also didn't check back for a 2nd round of drinks and forgot to bring our water. Since this is a comedy club however, I didn't expect gourmet meals and wouldn't hesitate to come back for another night of laughs. If they get the kinks ironed out for the server/food situation, I'd update the review to 5 stars. read more

I was really looking forward to my first visit to Mic Drop Comedy in San Diego, but unfortunately, my experience was far from enjoyable. I was seated right in the front, and while I was asked once not to interact with the comedian, the comedian continued looking at me and making comments, which made it feel natural to respond. I've been to plenty of comedy shows where respectful audience interaction is welcomed, but this was the first time I've ever been asked to leave--for simply laughing and answering questions that were directed at me. It was an uncomfortable and frustrating experience, especially since I wasn't heckling or disrupting the show in any way. If audience engagement isn't allowed, maybe the performers shouldn't interact with the crowd at all. read more

Here another hidden place in the Clairemont area. If you time it right you could get almost everything you needed for life, especially laughing because it has good help benefits. The have many shows with a variety of comedians The location could be miss leading because of how the environment looks. But don't be discouraged when you get inside. It's all about timing and the number in your party. Plus what time and room with comedian you chose. Because they have two rooms, the main room which is bigger and the gold room being the smaller of the two. When you walk in there's a person there asking for tickets and to show you ID regardless of age. After you will go to a rope line to wait for seating, They will ask how many in your party. Once they are told they will seat you accordingly. Be warned you will be place in a close proximity to people you don't know, so introduce yourself as to not make it weird. Seems like to me seating is best if you go early and there's more than two people. I 'm saying this because it was two of us and we were sat in a corner at a small table underneath the a/c vent so bring a jacket in case your put in this spot. Oh and in front of our table the put two more chairs to pack it in. What I observed wa there were booths with more room. That had to be for 4 or more. They do serve food and drinks. We have dinner before we went so we only had the Magic Teapot. It was $55 so you know if you go and desire to have one. The visuals look of the place inside was that it was renovated, it looked very good to me with comparison to other comedy places I have experienced in San Diego. Parking can be an experience and that would depend on when you go, so total price lout the door was $55.25 for tickets online from their website and the drink and chocolate cake was $133.81. I attended a show at the Mic Drop Comedy in San Diego on September 3, 2025. The name of the show was Nurses Night Out, and Greg "G "Williams was the headliner. He is a former veteran and currently a practicing Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse. There were two other comedians who performed opening acts. (their names unknown to me) I expected to hear satire and social commentary based on healthcare experiences. However, many of the sets resulted in being a vehicle for offensive material: * Disrespecting our gay and trans community * Reinforcing harmful stereotypes * Repeated graphic sexual content * Using overly raunchy material I am a member of the medical community, as were many of the other audience members. Mr. Williams did take time to honor the healthcare professionals. His funniest set was when an audience member reached for Mr. William's water bottle to secure the lid. I hope this feedback provides some insight for future shows. read more

Our first time here. We came to see Richard Villa he was in the Gold Room. The hostess sat us right up front totally unexpected and kinda nervous. We ordered a Edamame Hummus served with veggies and pita bread. The pita was crisp and had good flavor it was something light to eat so it hit the spot. I ordered a Diet Coke and my husband ordered a beer. They only serve local beer which it's good to support local but there mostly ALE beers which are super stronger and we aren't a fan of. The waitress made a recommendation of a light version and my husband said it was good. The first beer he order came with a cold glass the 2nd beer did not... beer belongs in a cold glass so we asked for one. The atmosphere here was fun and light. The service was ok. We attended with work-related free tickets. We were seated swiftly and our order taken promptly. The room looked clean and had fun decor. The menu had a full page of amusingly-named dishes, with the other side full of drinks. We got fries with ranch and ketchup, which were very good. The drinks were yummy as well. I got the Cheshire Cat lemonade and really enjoyed the blue sugar rim. The main performer was Michael Quu. The best performance, in my opinion, was the last guy who did magic. The first performer seemed a little nervous but did a good job. The three in between all made some variation of jokes about pronouns and trans people, and how silly that is. It got tired. Some people use different pronouns, what's funny? Maybe consider punching up instead of down next time. They made a lot of jokes about how sad and lonely they were and how the audience should sleep with them. Perhaps if they improved their own happiness they wouldn't feel the need to make fun of others living theirs. read more

I used the bathroom and it was also up to par. We only had drinks. My husband had an old fashion and I had the choco-tini. We liked them both. They do not have an item minimum which is nice.
