I got my wedding cake from Michael Angelo's, and now it's my go-to bakery for beautiful cakes. They always do an amazing job, whether I order something from their catalog, send them a picture, or just give them a rough idea of what I'm looking for. I've also used them for wedding shower and baby shower cakes and cupcakes. The presentation is a big deal for these types of events, and they always nail it. Their cakes are very good, and many people have complimented/asked where I got the cakes I have purchased from here. I'm not really a huge fan of cake, and I don't like sweet buttercream frosting,which I understand they do quite well--it's just not really my favorite. I also think the pricing is very affordable, especially after doing comparison shopping for wedding cakes. Most bakeries charge by the slice. This bakery does not. For our large wedding, this made several hundred dollars difference. They delivered our cake to downtown Cleveland. They were always courteous and helpful. They tasting was also a lot of fun. The ONLY reason they get four stars instead of five is because cassata cake is pretty much the only cake I like, and while they do it fairly well and their cakes are always gorgeous, I do not think theirs is the best tasting cassata cake in the area. read more

Michael Angelo Bakery did my daughters wedding cake with 3 weeks notice. After we had gotten very poor service from another local baker and we decided to switch. Matt saw us without an appt and calmed my daughters fears that should would have her dream wedding cake. In a matter of minutes he drew the cake and finalized all the details. He offered us a large variety of samples to taste. (Unlike other bakers we had visited) On the wedding day it was delivered and setup without incident. It was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and it tasted as good as it looked. They are reasonably priced compared to the overrated Bakers we have in the area that have appeared on the Food Network. Purchased a cake from here for my son's 21st birthday and once we started cutting into found out that it was alot less cake and way too much frosting. This was supposed to be a double layer cake and what was done was split one cake to make both layers. Very disappointing. And when I sent a message to them via the facebook account I never received a reply concerning the matter. Will not purchase from them again and will let anyone I know what happened and didn't happen. read more

Every time my wife and I go to Michael Angelo's Bakery they always have the best looking pastries. Also they have the best flavors of coffee in small packs if you want to try unique blends you wouldn't normally get. And lastly their cakes are the best. We had them do our cake for our wedding in October of 2014 and people still talk about it today when we see them. They also have the friendliest workers there. Everything in this place is amazing! I ordered a bunch of different desserts for my wedding and everyone raved about how good everything was. My mother ordered my baby shower cake last week and drove 40 minutes to pick it up on Saturday. It was a baby shower for over 100 people, the cake was very expensive and a full sheet cake. I was so excited to eat this cake but when we cut into it IT WAS THE WRONG FLAVOR! The owners offered me a $25 gift card for their bakery after this, as if I want to go back there or if this will make up for this huge mistake. I have not had such terrible customer experience in my life. The lady was not apologetic and told me it was my fault because the flavor of the cake was written down by their employee. I HAVE THE EMAIL TO PROVE WHAT I ASKED FOR. I will NEVER go back to this bakery again, which is sad because I use to come here for a lot of my bakery needs. read more

I called and told them I didn't want anyone else to do my wedding cake except them. When I told them where my reception would be I was immediately told they wouldn't deliver that far (31 miles). The reason they gave is that it was their busy season at that time and they would not drive a cake that far. WHAT?!?!?! I said, "Let me ask you this... WOULD you deliver that far?" Translation: hello, a customer is willing to pay whatever it takes to get a wedding cake to her reception. Pardon me for mistaking your business as a business that needs to make money. Still, the answer was no. I was stunned. And I'm still stunned. I must have told 6 people about this and they couldn't believe it. They said I could have someone come and pick up and transport the cake and then I quipped back that picking up a wedding cake is not like picking up a tux for a wedding. So I guess if you want a cake from here make sure you are getting married across the street. They are not willing to go above and beyond service-wise...even when offered money to do so. I have been going to Michael Angelo's for quite a few years. But recently, I have found some of their pastry and specialty items to be less than fresh. None of the pre-packaged items have an expiration date, at least I couldn't find any. That means the staff probably doesn't know which one are the oldest. The bakery items are just not as good as they used to be. Guess that's what happens when you become successful and try to become too commercial. They are located just 1/2 mile from my house but I will now drive to another bakery further away. I just personally don't think it's worth the price anymore. read more

Disgusted! Disappointed! Compete and utter failure on their part, and I'm not done. I cannot express how extremely disappointed in the chaotic disorganization of this place. Came to pick up my sons cake at 10am as discussed, and was told we needed to wait in the 45 minute line. When I said I didn't have time for this (given his party time, as also discussed during the cake appointment we had) was told they can't give priority. $200 for a birthday cake designated for a specific pick-up time doesn't have priority? I don't know if I have time to go back and pick-up his cake today, but this will not be my last point of comnunication regardless. We discussed a time sensitive expectation, and they failed to deliver to a first-time mom for my sons 1st birthday party. And to further my story- they forgot the smash cake!! When I sent my sister-in-law to get it, they wouldn't help her. And then said they couldn't find the cake. But found a cake (wrong one) and asked her if they could fix it. Wow. Just wow. Poor customer service, poor experience, poor management and exceedingly poor ownership. read more

I was optimistic when I first found Michael Angelo's; I really wanted a particular flavor for my wedding cake (I don't like basic yellow or white cake), and they said it would be no problem to make it. We met at the bakery, finalized all the details, signed the contract, and paid for the cake. The cake I wanted was a little more expensive, but we were happy to pay extra for (what we thought) would be a better cake. Unfortunately, we were wrong to expect what we paid for. I was not happy when my first bite of my wedding cake, on my wedding day, was not the flavor Michael Angelo's had committed to making. Instead of the cake we had ordered, it was plain yellow cake (not a pleasant surprise). I was even less happy when I called them to discuss the situation. While they admitted to changing a layer of my cake from what I had ordered to another flavor (they said the original layer had not been tall enough), they did not believe that they owed me an explanation, a refund, or even an apology, for changing our cake without telling me. I was told they did what they had to do to preserve the look of the cake, even though the taste was far more important to me (incidentally, the yellow cake they substituted tasted like it could have come from a grocery-store bakery). When I asked why they had not called me to notify me of the change, they said they didn't think it was a big deal. To make the situation worse, they became defensive, disrespectful and angry with me when I told them I wanted a refund because they hadn't adhered to the contract. One of the owners actually told my husband that he needed to shut me up because I was pissing him off. It took me almost a week to get them to refund a small fraction of the price of the cake. They behaved as though I had no right to expect the cake we had ordered and paid for, or to be upset that they had messed it up and treated my husband and I with such egregious disrespect . Apparently, upholding their commitment to their (paid-in-full) customers is not at the top of their priority list. The cake looked nice, and it tasted fine (except for the cheap yellow cake layer that was not what we ordered). It certainly was not the best cake I've ever tasted. After their complete lack of professionalism and deplorable customer service, I will never, ever shop there again. I would strongly urge anyone considering Michael Angelo's to go anywhere else first. You would likely have a better experience with an Easy-Bake oven than with the management of Michael Angelo's. read more

This was only the second time I have stopped there. The first time I wasn't impressed with the quality. Today we needed a cake for a party. My wife wanted chocolate cake with chocolate icing. They didn't have exactly what she wanted but I settled for a chocolate cake with chocolate flavored whipped cream. It was $24. I asked if the cake was fresh and was assured it was. When we served the cake, everyone initially said it was 'good'. I said it was extremely dry, not moist at all. Then everyone acknowledged it wasn't moist at all. So I don't know if it was an old cake or just a poorly made cake. Either way it was not very good. I certainly expected better for the price. Guess I should have relied on my first experience and skipped this bakery. I wouldn' t recommend this place for their cakes. read more

Bad Service! I recently ordered a birthday cake from Michael Angelo's. First off, I brought in a picture and was told they couldn't put it on the cake because it was copyrighted. I completely understood, but then the employee told me to go home and get clip art and come back later instead of helping me come up with an alternative. Next, I specifically told them I did not want fondant. When I arrived to pick up the cake the entire cake was fondant. They would not discount it or anything. They simply told me fondant was more expensive so I was the one getting the deal. Everyone was rude and difficult to work with. I will never go back! read more

A fabulous bakery! I haven't had a thing that is bad. Everything is fresh and simply beautiful. My ONLY suggestion would be that they dedicate one employee to assist with pre-paid, pick-up orders. I live near the bakery and every time I try something it is NEVER as good as it looks. In fact, I bought a nut roll for 10.00 and when I cut into it, it was mushy like it was raw. I returned it about 1 hour later and they were not happy with the return. They sold me cupcakes instead and I had to pay the one dollar difference even though I had to drive back to return it. I bought a tiramisu and it didn't even have any marscapone in it. It had a fake white icing. The lady fingers around it were like rubber. It was terrible. I am very upset with this company. After initial taste testing we were very impressed and excited for everyone to have our cake. Wedding day came and my wife and I were super disappointed. Two of the 3 layers of the cake were incorrect. Also, the cake was very cold. I woulnd't be upset had it just come out of the refirdgerator. However, the cake was placed on the cake table upon delivery and had been sitting there for hours. Explain if the cakes are never frozen, how this could be this cold and still requrie significant force to cut. read more

I had my May 17, 2014 wedding cake from Michael Angelo's Bakery. The cake was a for tiered cake with cassada filled tiers and buttercream tiers, all covered in buttercream. It looked beautiful and tasted amazing. Icing was so smooth, absolutely perfect. We had guests asking all night if the entire cake was actually made out of cake or if it was a 'dummy' cake. It was so tall and stately, people couldn't believe it was in fact all cake! Definitely would recommend! read more

I saw the booth for Michael Angelo's Bakery at a bridal show and was really excited when I saw their catalog. Their cakes looked beautiful. I called to make an appointment and was told I did not need one. I made the 30minute drive to see about the cakes and pricing. When I got there I was told they were to busy to talk to me and I needed an appointment. I was understanding and made an appointment for the following Saturday. They called the morning of the appointment and told me they were too busy to meet with me yet again. I gave them one more chance and scheduled for the following Saturday. I was called yet again the morning of the appointment and was told they could not meet with me. I emailed the owner and explained what had happened and all I got were excuses and nothing else. They may make great cakes, but I guess now I'll never know. I am now looking for a bakery that wants my business. read more

If you need (are dying for) baked goods, just come to Michael Angelo's. It's kind of hard to find, tucked back from the street in a small strip of three or four businesses, on Broadview Rd., just north of the northeast corner of Broadview and Wallings Rds. If you're looking for quality and variety, try Michael Angelo's first. It will save you a lot of time, cuz you won't want to go anywhere else. Their cupcakes may seem expensive but their prices are in-line with other quality bakeries. I've had the famous DC Cupcakes in Washington, DC, and, for me, Michael Angelo's cupcakes are at least as good, if not better. For my birthday I asked for a chocolate layer cake with chocolate frosting. Oh, MAN, was it good. Deee-lish! And the round cinnamon bread makes great toast. I imagine it would make a good French toast! My only complaint would be that the outside ring of the rolled bread breaks away from the next ring if you don't handle it gently, especially when removing it from the toaster. Small price to pay for really tasty bread. And the cookies are pretty dang good, too! read more
