My mom and I stumbled upon this bakery while shopping in Old River. This is the perfect addition to that area. We wanted some sweets, but were pleasantly surprised to see that Chicken Paprikash was also available. It was very good chicken paprikash too. It tasted just like the paprikash my mom made when I was growing up. The young man that helped us showed us the pan that looked like it was packaged to take home. He instantly offered to heat it and split it to so we could enjoy the chicken paprikash for lunch. That was perfect and very appreciated! I'd definitely come back just for the paprikash on future visits home. The baked goods are the ones I remember from childhood, not fancy modern bakery items. The cases were filled with delicious kolaches, poppyseed rolls, pistachio bars, and various cookies. For dessert I had an apricot kolache and really enjoyed it. The filling was minimal, but the pastry had a great texture and flavor. There were many fresh baked items already packaged up for those in a rush. Perfect little trays of cookies to take to a party or the office. The service was great. It started great with the young man that offered to heat up our chicken paprikash. It's always a treat to find a local bakery when browsing in an unfamiliar neighborhood. I stopped in and purchased some kolackes and a blueberry scone, and both were delicious. The kolackes were fairly large and very flakey and light. The bakery had some savory items and many other sweet treats available.The sugar cookies were not as pretty as I often find in local bakeries, but many other items looked very tempting. I came to your shop today (Weds) and purchased a number of items, 2 of which were a poppyseed and a nut roll for Thanksgiving deserts. We decided to have some this evening and boy was we disappointed! Both were stale, especially the nut roll as it broke apart like a cracker it was so dry. Great little bakery. I was here in the morning picking up items for people in the office, as we are finally getting together. I put together a collection of muffins and rolls that were simply delicious. Obviously everything here is fresh and made by the owner. I stopped in this afternoon for something sweet to go with my evening movie. I purchased 2 pieces of cake, 1 cupcake, and a scone. I know that's a lot, but I was going to share it with my room mate. When I went to steal a little of my room mates cupcake frosting I was appalled that the frosting was so hard my finger wouldn't even go into it. And the cupcake was hard enough to bang on the kitchen counter. Both of the cake pieces were almost as bad. I have a huge sweet tooth and so does my room mate, but we agreed to just toss everything because it was all inedible. Oddly, my neighbor had warned me that since I was going on a Saturday all of the pastry would probably be old leftovers from the week before. I should have listened to her. I would have been better off with a pack of Oreos. If you want to take a chance and try Kathy's please be sure to give everything a little squeeze before you leave, especially if you go on a Saturday. read more

I used to work down the street from this place, but never went in. Our boss would bring their pepperoni rolls hot out of the oven and they were AMAZING! I was in the neighborhood around lunchtime and stopped in. There was a chicken salad croissant in the case that looked to die for. I got that and a pepperoni roll for the kids. Neither disappointed and I have told everyone I know. I am already planning my next visit and to bring in some other items to share with friends. read more

Stopped in one morning to take a look around. For a work event a few days later, I was planning to buy some breakfast goods, so wanted to try something a little more unique than just Dunkin Donuts. Charming little bakery, and the owner was incredibly nice and friendly. Told me about her different products and exchanged some small chit chat. Went back a few days later to pick up some fresh kolacke for the work event, and she remembered me. Bought two dozen of some of the most fresh, amazing kolackes out there! People at work loved them, and the box was demolished within an hour, which cannot be said of the other food people brought in. Prices were great too; price for fresh, still warm pastries comparable to other places. Any time I need fresh, baked-that-day pastries, I will be stopping in again. read more

Kathy's Kolacke's is a small bake shop that offers lots of kolacke's that are really good but totally different from that which I'm accustomed to; nonetheless, again, they are quite delicious. They are about 2-3 larger than what I'm used to and the dough is similar to puff pastry. At .75 cents each they are moderately priced, and I'd say, worth it. The other baked items for sale, cookies, cakes, muffins, bars and so on, while good, are priced a bit higher than I believe they are worth. Kathy's makes beautiful holiday cookies and cookie trays, but again, I think the prices are too high. I will continue to buy kolackes at Kathy's. read more

Big disappointment: less than mediocre products and way overpriced! Tried the kolackes, which were nothing close to a kolacke, but dry puff pastry with a tiny amount of filling. The snuggles were even worse. They were heavy and unbaked in the middle, and the color was an off-putting grey. read more

Very poor customer service. Picked up cookies ordered in advance only to find out KK gave me 5x the amount of cookies that were actually ordered. When I asked to return the excess cookies, the store refused to take back or credit the extra amount. No one from my family will ever go back to this business, which is fine with me since they are overpriced and of mediocre quality anyway. read more

I ordered three rolls for my 93 Yr. old Aunt in California. I had done this twice before with Kathy's shop with no problems. However, this time they were never received. According to Kathy the USPS delivered to porch. They were clearly never delivered/received. I asked Kathy whether the shipping charge of $14 included insurance; she stated it was covered for $50 (goods and shipping were $45). When I asked her how we could get this resolved she stated "The USPS is not going to pay the $50 because they said it was delivered". Never mind no signature- just because the USPS said so. Bottom line: I lose the $45 and my Aunt never received the intended gifts. Kathy easily could have made the claim against the USPS or made the rolls again and only charged me the delivery fee. Nope: My Aunt and I were out of luck; no assistance or responsibility on her part. Profitability rules over a repeat customer. I am DONE. Advice: NEVER let this business ship any of her goods; if they end up missing-you lose! read more

If you want great home made from scratch, this is the place to go. Nothing can compare to my grandma's kolackes, however, there are followed closely behind the best kolackes. Cookies, regelach, cakes, nut rolls, cinnabuns, and biscotti. And there are frozen ones so you can take them home and make them when you have that taste for some. Her pumpkin rolls are so so good! Mouth watering good. Fluffy, not dry and full of flavor. Her Kolackes are never hard and always flakey with just the right amount of filling. There are also party trays you can order and bagged goodies for something simple to give to someone as a gift. It's a bit pricey compared to your local grocery store, but you're paying for QUALITY! Please keep that in mind when you walk in here. This place has been around for years and they know their pastries. Once you've had something sweet from here, you won't be thinking about that place down the street that starts with a P and ends with an A. The location is always clean and smells of freshly baked goods. The ladies in there are always smiling and always chatty. They're great at coming up with things to get if you don't know exactly what to get for something last minute. They don't try to upsell you either, which is smart. i buy kolache and other baked goods here routinely ... i love the kolache and a dozen ($8.50) make a great gift or tip ... Kathy uses real ingredients ... her baked goods are just right sweet without being overly sweet like so many other places ... she also makes a nice stromboli ... her baking is more along European style and for me that makes it more authentic ... Kathy is down to earth and very professional ... she is also honest and for some that can be off putting ... if you want good kolache you best go early because she does sell out ... the apricot and nut kolache are the most popular, but i like the blueberry, raspberry and cherry the best read more
