I had a disappointing experience and want to share so others are aware. I booked a full bleach service for my teenage daughter after communicating with the stylist ahead of time, including sending photos. I was quoted $163, which I agreed to. When we arrived, the stylist was about 18 minutes late. After she arrived she explained that my daughter's hair would likely turn orange rather than blonde, which we were completely okay with. However, after taking us back and without confirming any updated pricing, she went ahead and mixed the product. Only after doing so did she inform me the total would now be $400. This was a significant and unexpected increase, and not something I agreed to. I expressed that I was comfortable staying closer to the original quote, but not at that price. At that point, she asked me to pay $35 for the bleach she had already mixed. Not wanting to escalate things, I paid and left. The issue is not just the price it's the lack of transparency and communication. Pricing should always be clearly discussed and agreed upon before any service or product is prepared. This experience felt unprofessional and left me feeling taken advantage of. I hope this feedback encourages better communication with future clients. read more

I have curly hair *and* am getting a bit gray (I'm in my early 30s) and have had only so-so experiences dealing with these issues at other salons. Marcus did my hair and I am so, so pleased - he suggested a color gloss procedure that has lasted at least two months (and didn't dry out my hair as permanent dye has in the past) and gave me a cut that gives my hair body and shape. So many stylists just want to blow dry my hair straight, and this is not helpful to me, as I will not realistically have the time or patience to do that daily. I wanted to embrace the curl and be able to just wash and go without a half-dozen products. This is exactly what I got. I have received a lot of compliments on my hair, too, and actually wear it down more now. As for the price, I thought it was extremely reasonable for what you get. And Marcus told me he'd give me a cut that I wouldn't have to keep coming back every 6 weeks to maintain. One that would grow out nicely so that it could be an every-few-months upkeep, which I appreciate. The whole experience was excellent. read more

My mom recommended me to go here. Although she recommended me, I was skeptical to go to a new salon but let me tell you it was WORTH IT! Bianca helped me, she gave me a good trim and framing of my face. She did exactly what I asked plus more that helped my hair not only look and feel silky smooth but not look too thick since I have A LOT of hair. Bianca and her coworkers made me feel so welcomed, relaxed and blew away my standards for a salon. This is the best salon/ spa that I've been to in the AV, it's very clean, the people there are sweet and welcoming, and they're willing to help you in any way possible whether it's with you wanting a new look, your usual hair look or even just wanting to feel and look prettier with your hair and nails. I had been looking for a salon for a few months and ran into a women at Target and she told me she came to Michael Anthony's so I decided to try it out. I LOVED my experience! From the the darling girl at the front desk to the end of my service I was completely accommodated, so happy, and felt such a good vibe in there! I have been to many pricey salons having lived in LA and received terrible service in return. However, I found Michael Anthony's prices to be so affordable, and not only that I loved all of the fun stuff in there! I can't believe some of the reviews people have written. I work at this salon and am the only one currently doing eyelash extensions. I am disappointed by the post from Olga because I have never had her as a client and I can assure you she would not get anything but the best service. I pride myself on my work and I take it very personally. I have an extensive clientele and it is based on recommendations. I'm sorry that Olga had such a poor experience, but I assure those who look at these reviews, it was not our salon. I've been a client here at MA for many years. I feel more comfortable at this salon than any salon I've ever been to. I've lived in LA for most of my life, been to many salons, this one is different. The stylist that work for JOY (the owner) smile at you say hello and make you feel welcome. No holier-than-thou attitudes. Everyone associated with Joy and MA are great, and talented, I won't mention my favorites this time, but he lives in Santa Monica. And I adore him. I've been going to this salon for about 2 years now and love it. Valerie does my hair perfectly each time. Sometimes I tell her what I want and sometimes I leave it to her to be creative and I love the outcome every single time, she's great! I've also had a couple of other stylists (Chris & Kristin) do my hair when Valerie was unavailable and was happy with their services as well. Love this salon, but especially love my stylist, Marcus Hoey! Always look forward to my cut and color because I know it will be great. I use to go to a salon for a couple of months and then start looking for another. Not anymore. Marcus truly looks at each cut as a work of art and is highly trained and skilled in color. EYELASHES!!! Julie at Michael Anthony Spa & Salon has applied my fabulous eyelashes since May of this year. I could not be more pleased with them, they are the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have two People whom work in this salon and everyone asks who they are when they see my nails done by RAELENE and hair by VALARIE. My nails are always constantly a hit. She can even put little pictures in your acrylic nails and pretty designs as well. So cute! Valarie, has done myhair about 3 times. I have been going to Michael Anthon's since they opened. Ray has done my nails for over 10 years. She is professional and great at what she does. Shane has done my hair for 4 years. She does a great job. Joy the owner does a great job at making her business run smoothly and professionally. I always tease her that she only hires beautiful people. When I go to a Salon I want it to feel high end, like I am someplace special; Michael Anthony definitely fit that definition. It is very nice and I am always well treated. Even as a guy with shorter hair. My stylist is Lauren. She always does a great job to make sure I look in style; and I certainly need her professional help with that. Bad bad bad service ! I went for a touch up and the "stylist" didn't a sloppy job I walked out so embarrassed and all she said was it would come off as I wash my hair. Not to mention during the process they were handling my hair without care after I felt my hair being pulled and instead of communicating on how to be possed she kept just pulling my head down .
