Ok, I already reviewed him but don't care! Upon hearing of his retirement -- just a sense, so I checked the internet, only to find I was but a month off -- I want to acknowledge this absolutely delightful person and superior dentist. I will miss knowing I can call or email or carrier pigeon my concerns, xrays, you name it. I probably should not say this, but once I got very behind and he allowed me to continue; and a few years later I paid in full and was never behind again. That level of caring is unmatched in what has become a difficult industry for many dentists. I hope this kind of compassion and professionalism catches on. I used to go to this office for over 10 years, But it is now impossible to ever return there again! The seasoned technicians are gone and the ones that are now there are unqualified, RUDE and patronising!!!. During my last visit, the new technician injured my jaw and gums as she showed no regard for me as a person causing my gums to bleed. When I asked her to be more careful, she screamed at me for "disrespecting her" What rubbish!!!! Dr Stricker is an EXCELLENT dentist and he deserves 5 Stars BUT the rest of his staff deserves ZERO stars and should not be working with the public! read more

I cracked a tooth last weekend and needed to find a dentist. This time of year (December) is really hard to find one. I called Dr. Stricker's office (really close to my home) and was delighted that they could squeeze me in. The staff is very friendly and Dr. Stricker is light hearted and personable. He examined my issue, explained what he could do and we went from there. I tend to judge my experiences by how badly it hurt when they inject the area to be worked on. He is one of the best! I only felt a tiny pinch and it was only numb at the area to be worked on. He finished in no time, made sure my bite was not "high" and the tooth feels good. When he was done he asked if I had any questions and I said yes. "Will you be my dentist?" He smiled and said "Yes". So happy I found him on Yelp. read more

I am admittedly a dental phobic due to childhood experiences. I was also the wife of a dental hygienist for 20 years. It was years of good dentistry via husband's dentist and some nitrous oxide, that enabled me to keep getting care despite the anxieties. (I no longer bother with the nitrous.) It was being willing to keep looking for the standard of care I know exists and accepting no substitutes that landed me in Dr. Stricker's office. (I found him by asking my neighbors who they liked, and his name kept coming up along with a couple of others.) Having a behind the scenes look at the world of dentistry and having much work done over a lifetime, I know range of what is out there dentist and work wise. I'd been through 3 other dentists in SF in the 5 years, prior to Dr. Stricker. (Rhymes with Ticker btw if your a pronunciation geek like I am.) Dr. Stricker is a gem! I've seen him several times. He is kind, patient, gentle, relaxed, friendly and chill, exactly what I want as a dental phobic. He is neither rushed nor slow and yet has always been prompt, if that matters to you. While one's chair-side matters much, the quality of the work is even more crucial. His injections are spot on as far as skill and delivery and he has excellent levels of in-chair communication that set one at at ease. His staff has been with him a long time, which also can be telling! He has always followed through on calls, like when my lifelong tmj acted up. He is super accessible. The Endo guy he referred me to was also fabulous. Good general dentists tend to have really solid referrals as well. I read with surprise a criticism by one person about a lo tech atmosphere (my last dentist had all the bells and whistles including a massage chair I did love admittedly.) While there are times when you want technology, such as at the endodontists where root work is aided by advanced specialized equipment, what goes into a great general dentist is in the hands, and in the brain, apart from basic tools. Dentistry is a skill as well as an art and one you can't buy through a supplies catalogue. (Owning a Ferrari won't make you a good driver!) The office is clean, well lit and homey. (His mom made the operatory wall quilts!) Bonus: There is usually a parking spot within a block if not right in front. To be sure there is nothing wrong with technology itself but that is far far down my list of must haves. Person-ability, good communication and work that holds UP are the trifecta! These are what matter to me. Often when a dentist buys a cutting edge piece of equipment, there is a temptation to market to that equipment in order to make it to pay for itself, so do be fooled thinking that is the be all and end all. I want everything that needs done, not everything humanly possible TO do. I've always found Ana (sp?) at the front desk to be personable professional and warm, she's a real asset and adds to my feeling at home and welcome. read more

Dr. Stricker truly is an amazing dentist and deserves all the praise. The office is located on the corner of 30th Ave and Judah St in the Outer Sunset -- conveniently accessible by the N Judah. The office is small, but very clean and efficient (they call to remind you about appts, always keep the time, and have Discover magazine in the waiting room... which I never have time to read). My Russian childhood dentist memories have scarred me for life, and I have anxiety just thinking about teeth. I may be young still, but I've had plenty of work done on my teeth so I know what to look for. Dr. Stricker always takes his time, calms me down, and works fast yet SUPER gentle. Seriously, I don't even feel the Novocaine shots. He also whistles while he works, which means he likes his work and is proud of it, and is therefore very, very good at what he does. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Oh, and his mom's quilt hangs in the first exam room, and I like finding meaning in it. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Stricker for many years. (I honestly cannot remember when I started going to him.) I am treated like the most important patient in existence every time I show up for an appointment. Dr. Stricker is the kindest, most thoughful, and seriously responsive dental doctor one could hope for. There is never a moment when I cannot reach him, and he has been SO kind to a few visiting young people who were just traveling through SF and had a dental emergency. It was unbelievable. Generally speaking, most medical professionals do not seem to care the way Dr. Stricker does. Many friends, and all my immediate family, are patients of this man. The fact that Dr. Stricker is a non-high-faluttin dentist does not belie his skill or talent, and certainly not his incredible staff of wonderful folks. To earn the five stars, Dr. Stricker went the extra mile to put me at ease and off the ceiling the best he could. This is my new dentist! I was skeptical about all the 5-star reviews but he might just be this good. From start to finish I was very happy and impressed with my experience. I called the office after finding it on Yelp and the woman on the phone (later to be identified as Ana) explained to me everything about my insurance, the office, the doctor - awesome! She worked with me to make sure I could still get to work on time the day of my appointment. I've been there twice now (he found a cavity! :( ) and both times my appointment times were on time or even a little earlier. Dr. Stricker was friendly, ready to answer whatever questions I had, professional and overall very pleasant. My husband and I have just started going to Dr. Stricker and we will NEVER need another dentist. The experience is lovely from the moment you walk in the door and it continues until the time you leave. I know this sounds odd considering the dentist isn't usually a "lovely" experience by any stretch of the imagination; however, Dr. Stricker makes a point of performing the entire service himself for the first appointment and he couldn't be kinder or gentler. No bloody gums, no lingering pain, no general annoyance at an exorbitant co-pay. We were in and out in an hour on the nose and paid nothing thanks to my husband's insurance. Definitely the best dentist I have ever had. Every resident I work with recommends Dr. Stricker (there's a connection since we work with his brother) and for very good reason. His staff is very accommodating with respect to appointments and my schedule. I have been twice, and he personally did the cleaning on both occasions (I've never actually had a DDS before that did his own cleanings) although I am sure that is not the norm. Dr. Stricker is a nice man. But take a look at his equipment. They're outdated and it seems that he's taking the cheap way out. Radiation level would probably be less if a new updated model was used. Also, his secretary/manager Ana, is rude. The two seem to be the dynamic duo and play good cop, bad cop. She demands payment for things that Dr. Stricker implies would be free and he then defers to her when you go back to him. Good game. It seems that MONEY is a top drawer concern. Faced with an unexpected situation needing immediate care I was surprised when my after-hours call was met with the doctor leaving an emergency number that he personally receives and responds to. I received a quick response and was invited to come in before his normal business hours the next day. While that alone is noteworthy, it got better. Dealing with many unknowns, because of Dr. Stricker's calm demeanor, kindness, compassion and expertise, I was able to relax and trust his assessment and recommendations. I have been a patient of Dr. Stricker's for years...and I mean years! He has had the same receptionist since I was a kid. Ana, love her to death. I've had a few different tech's work on my teeth. All have been fantastic. The entire office is great. Everyone is caring, sensitive, and gentle. Just simply, he is probably one of the best dentists in San Francisco with a support staff (hi Irene and Anna!) who are fabulous. Why? He's ALWAYS happy to see his patients, and has never met a problem that flustered him. I have issues due to bi-lateral Bells Palsy; my wiring is all screwed up and it's really hard to get me numb. Dr. Stricker has never said to me "You can FEEL that?????" like some jerky dentists have said to me in the past. Like its MY fault. My husband & I have been patients of Dr. Stricker's since about 2012. We were referred to him by my co-worker who has been his patient since she was a little girl! He is very friendly, professional, and extremely thorough. Before visiting Dr. Stricker's office, we were going to a fancy pants high rise dental office down town. We feel much more comfortable and at home with Dr. Stricker and his caring staff. We get cleanings every 6 months, they make sure the Xrays are done as needed, we haven't had any problems at all. Every once in a while we get reminders to floss that are appropriate and sincere. They never shame or nag us - instead they problem solve ways to get started on new habits. All billing is handled through the front office, then they send a bill for the remainder. Easy peasy! read more

I love my dentist so much that he inspired me to write my first yelp review! I've been going to Dr. Stricker for 3 years now--my former housemate has seen Dr. Stricker for years and recommended him to me. I've had nothing but positive experiences with him and his staff. This despite the fact that I'm cavity prone, and have had to have a few fillings. Dr. Stricker and the hygienists never make me feel guilty even when I admit I've been slacking on flossing. Other things to love: clear explanations, relaxed environment with little or no waiting, quilts to fit the season made by Dr. Stricker's mum; receptionists who remember you and make you feel like a friend. Possible negatives: out of the way location (though its right on the N-Judah line and parking is easy) and simple decor (don't expect to watch TV while you're in the chair). read more

Like alot of people, im pretty dentist-phobic and really picky about who I choose as my dentist. I found Dr. Stricker out of a list of dentists that my insurance covers, and I have to say, I made the BEST choice. During my first phone conversation with the office receptionist I felt at ease, she was friendly, helpful, and knew all of the answers to my questions(I am new to this "being adult and having insurance" thing, so I am sure I asked some pretty stupid ones) During my first cleaning and my return visit to get a cavity filled Dr. Stricker was upbeat, friendly, and enthusiastic. He asked how I was doing every few minutes or so through the cleaning and the filling, he was extremely attentive and gentle, I was elated to discover that a cavity, or a cleaning didnt have to be a stressful experience and that I could head to my dentist appointments without fear of all the pain i'd have to endure. Yesterday I woke up with a first-in-a-lifetime thought: 'Oh yay! I'm going to the dentist today!' I have had an entire adulthood of bad teeth and worse dental experiences, so this was extremely unexpected. A friend told me about Stricker's practice and since it had been too long since I'd seen anyone I decided to try. I got in almost immediately, the office staff is delightful, Dr Stricker is charming and laid back and doesn't exude a molecule of judgement.
