So I found Overland on Yelp and realized I had driven by it a zillion times without even realizing it. The staff are very friendly and prompt. They usemore advanced equipment than the other place, too. Dr. Lueckenhoff is great. He was very helpful in understanding what I was unhappy with in my last set of contacts and is currently working with me to find the right contact lenses for me. Meanwhile, I have a new pair of glasses that are very nice and prescription-perfect. I would have no qualms recommending anyone to go here (except my ex. He can find his own place!) August 2018: I just took my 80+ yr-old father in for an eye exam and glasses. He was way overdue. The team did a great job attending to his needs, helping him find glasses similar to his current pair, and working with his insurance. After the exam I was informed that my co-pay was $49. For some people on Medicaid a $49 co-pay could mean eating Ramen noodles for 2 weeks. This review is WOEFULLY overdue, but better late than never!…read more Dr. Julie Emming-Thomas is the total package - an exceptional optometrist, both friendly and skilled, with an awesome eye for design and style. Every detail in The Eye Shoppe is perfectly appointed, from the eye-catching (ha, ha) displays of frames to her fixtures and decor. The office is warm and cozy, and feels professional in a decidedly un-medical way. Dr. Thomas is often at the front of the shop, greeting patients and browsers (as well as their dogs - this is the only dog-friendly optical shop I've ever seen, and it's awesome!). The Eye Shoppe is a perfect fit for Old St. Charles, with its mix of eclectic and throwback style. Most importantly, Dr. Thomas really goes above and beyond to meet the needs of her patients. My husband was visiting from California and Dr. Thomas was able to promptly see him for a vision exam, get his glasses ordered and fitted in the time he was in the St. Louis area. Everything was perfect without exception. I recently needed new sunglasses since I, too, relocated to California, and Dr. Thomas was able to order them based on my recent exam at her office and ship them to me; simply fantastic service. The Eye Shoppe carries frames in a wide variety of price ranges and styles, so I was easily able to get the awesome Ray-Bans I wanted at a great price. They take most vision insurance, too! We will definitely continue to see Dr. Thomas as our visits to St. Louis permit, and I will keep sending my friends her way. Overall the service for my exam was fine but when it came down to buying glasses the sales tactics were obvious and horrible. When I started to question the costs I was given diff excuses trying to justify why my glasses were sooo expensive, even when having vision insurance. They told me that buying the same glasses with my insurance would cost me more based on the funny math used for the lens and bundling pricing. Highly recommend taking your prescription to another company or online to save you a lot of money! Sad!

The building was empty by the way and on a day where I'm sure people were missing and canceling appointments. Really was just looking for any kind of accommodation or help but no the 10 min grace period is the ultimate and infallible law of the land even in the most understandable of circumstances.
