And I have been around the block, so I know talent/brilliance, when I come across it. Jennifer, I have often referred to as the earthly angel - she sings like one, is so aware of being kind to others; she is selfless always, placing patients and their concerns as her main priority. She has saved ALL of my teeth with her impressive gum grafts which by the way, never gave me any trouble whatsoever! She even used a different thread, so as to tailor this to my sensitive gums/mouth. Everything she does, is perfect. I didn't think that was possible - but meet Dr. Watters and their staff. Dr. Hing and I worked briefly together, years ago and he placed the most perfect crown you could find in my mouth. It was flawless. To Dr. Choi: Well.... he's another unique person: he has hand-delivered to me my invisiline, I lost a set, he had the arduous process of having to re-order these - he goes above and beyond, to ensure that his patients are very well cared for, and for a young dentist, his skills and talents are clearly extraordinary. He knows me well, he tailors everything to make my visit always so smooth and enjoyable - I never ever feel any pain or discomfort, and between Dr. Watters and Dr. Choi, my smile will be mine for a long time :). I thought I had everything done that I could get done until my dentist Dr. Matt Anderson said after I broke a tooth, "You can avoid having a dental implant if you have a crown lengthening. It may even save you a little money and you get to keep your tooth." I Googled it and started to shake, "The bone above the broken tooth is shaved and therefore lengthened to allow a pin and then a crown to be placed." So Dr. Anderson sent me to Dr. Mercedes Heitman in Petaluma for the bone shearing, and gum surgery event. Not gonna lie, I was NOT looking forward to this at all. Plus I read online the "after" experience could be painful. So the extremely good news is that Dr. Mercedes Heitman and her assistant Madelelyn were amazing. The crown lengthening was carried out with utmost skill and care and I did not have one moment of pain during or after the procedure. This team was constantly checking for my comfort level and reaction. And, Dr. Heitman has something not often seen in the dental world: a sharp wit and polished sense of humor. The women who run the office are equally welcoming and efficient. I cannot recommend Dr. Heitman's work highly enough. You are in good hands with her.

He knows what he's doing, is very calm, and listens carefully to my concerns and questions. He was recommended by another great dentist I had in Marin (Dr. Jason Herschleb), so when we moved to Petaluma in 2001, I started going to Dr. Barton. I take my kids to Dr. Barton, too, and they LOVE him and love going to get their teeth checked. As a parent, one important goal I had for them was to establish a positive association to dentistry at an early age in order to grow into adulthood with no fear of dentists. So far, so good! Also, I recommended Dr. Barton to a friend of mine who is VERY PICKY about dentists. She has extremely high standards and is very critical of them. She has been very, very happy with Dr. Barton and raves about him any chance she gets.

She did a "root planing" that took all of 20 minutes, did NOT plane at all - just roamed around in my mouth with a pick but charged my insurer for the planing. Then she did a root canal, she made the crown out of some extruded plastic goo that was hardened using UV light, looked pretty cheesey when she did it and sure enough it failed the next day. Was seeing her for 2 years and I gave some serious thought to filing complaints at the time but did not. It utterly destroyed my trust in dentists, I have literally not seen one since and that has been 13 years ago and have broken/missing teeth. This woman is a crook.

Despite the fact that my dentist sent all of my current x-rays, they took more and then did a cone beam x-ray. All Dr. Smida had to say was not to remove the wisdom teeth. She sent me a copy of the cone beam report and it stated I had a tooth with pulp resorption which needed to be removed. I called the office to find out if she would take it out and she no. When I called back again to ask how urgent this matter was, I was told the doctor was too busy and to book another appointment to discuss it. I also did an oligoscan which I highly recommend but not at this office. I had some serious irregularities which Dr. Smida said she would have to check with her tutor for a treatment plan. When I spoke to her on the phone, her recommendation was to take epson salt baths. I've spent months researching what I need to do and have found her response to be pathetic. They won't even print the report for you; they email it. But they only email 2 pages even though there are 3 pages. Since I saw the 3 pages in the office, I told them I want the 3rd page which I did eventually get. This office may do the scan, but they sure don't know how to offer a treatment plan to fix the problems. I spent just over a $1,000 - what a waste of money!

My dentist at the time was on vacation and I was having my teeth cleaned and Dr. Dembski came in and said he had removed thousands of wisdom teeth. When asking are you an oral surgeon he replied no. When extracting my wisdom tooth he hit the lingual nerve. I now have permanent damage, numbness to the right side of my tongue. I have gone through a nerve repair at u.c.s.f., damage was so severe it was beyond repair, by one of the best oral surgeons in the world. I would never refer anyone to Dr Dembski or Petaluma dental group. I would not give this man even a one star rating.

I went here for years for general cleaning, no problems. They then recommended two crowns, about 1…read moreyear apart. In each case I was told they looked fairly straightforward, and the chance of root canal was low. In both cases expensive root canals were required after the fact. In the first instance, the tooth kept hurting more and more for over a week after the permanent crown was on. They finally had to take the permanent crown off and do the root canal. For the second crown, at least they realized it was infected while the temporary crown was off. I was upset and asked the new owner of the practice for some kind of discount. She was very abrasive and just kept telling me I had signed waivers accepting that this could happen. I talked to another dentist who said while the odds of root canal on a crown were moderately high (so needing two unplanned root canals wasn't extraordinary), he said that most dentists would offer some kind of discount, since they want to keep customers happy. Clearly this practice did not believe in this, so I have stopped using them.
