I visited the Michael Hynes Auto repair for my annual vehicle inspection and had a generally positive experience. The facility was clean and well-organized, and the staff was friendly and efficient. The inspection process was quick. There was no wait when I arrived and so I was in & out within 20mins. The inspector explained the findings clearly and I appreciated their advise in advance to point out an issue with my windshield which would potentially fail the test and offer me options on how to proceed. I was sideswiped by a bus with damage to my car, and my insurance company rightly pointed me to Hynes auto as a preferred auto shop. Hynes took care of everything in terms of assessment with the insurance company and turned my car around four days before schedule. Everything went very smoothly. I even asked them to help me fix something else mechanical on the other side of the car that I've been sitting on for a longer time that was not part of the accident. Their pricing was more than reasonable for this separate repair as well. Most of all I often dread going to auto shops, because of my worry about how they will treat me as a woman but here they were respectful, listen to me, and were responsive. I was going to travel to different state and went to MJH without an appointment. They were able to do the service I asked for the same day, which was really great. I went there for oil change, tire rotation and balancing. One of the tires deflates faster than the others. Few days later I realized that the tire at the same position has the same deflating problem, which tells me that they probably didn't rotate the tires. Unfortunately I didn't mark the tires before the rotation, so I don't have better proof. Few days later when I was driving in the city the car started shaking a lot for a minute, which scared me a lot and now I don't think it was properly balanced. They didn't give me any paperwork showing in details how they rotated and balanced the tires. I'll just go to another mechanic to check my tires, but this time I'll require more more details how they rotate and balance the tires. read more

I've now been to Hynes for actual car repairs, and my opinion stands. I had my repairs paid for by Geico and the process was pretty seamless. The staff is really friendly, too. I can't really speak as to their pricing since I didn't shop around. It was an expensive repair but I needed a lot of new body parts. read more

I am very impressed with this shop. I went there today to get an estimate on a rather mysterious dent on my car. Chris at this shop was nearly a good 10 feet away from the car and looking at it for the first time ever and the first thing he said was "looks like the job you did in that spot was poorly done; you need to go back to that body shop to get this redone." Sure enough, a quick look into my records and that *was* a work done on my car nearly 3 years ago, but clearly badly done. I took it to that shop where they did the work and they are redoing that work for me, for free. I am just blown away. My family and I have been bringing our Subaru's here for years, from regular inspections to body work and beyond. What makes this shop really stand out is their honesty; I've always felt like they were upfront with me and they take the time to explain what needs to be done to your car. Prices are reasonable ($35 for an inspection) and I do not feel like I'm being taken advantage of (which I can't say the same when I've been to other places...). Great service. I called to get repairs done for my car that was rear-ended. They were able to get me in within 2 days. The cost ended up being higher than the original quote from the insurance company but Kevin worked directly with the insurance company to get it covered. They also work with Enterprise so I was able to pick up and drop off my rental car at their shop. They were responsive when I called for updates. I would definitely use them again. read more

My driver's side door was side swiped and the window would not go up all the way, not a good situation if parking on the streets of Boston.At the end of the day, Hynes auto body was recommended to me and of course I was stuck in traffic and arrived as they were closing. Much to my surprise (most places would have said come back tomorrow) but one of the managers Chris offered to take a look. 45 minutes later and with the help of another employee, they were able to get the window working. I was looking for an auto shop to do a quick repair for me along with an inspection. I had a great experience with the Hynes shop in Allston back when I lived in that area so I called the Roslindale shop, since it's right up the street from me. (Was thrilled to see that they have a shop in Roslindale now.) The person there was quite helpful and directed me to this shop since they don't do inspections at the Roslindale shop and he didn't want me to have to go two places in one day. I called, they told me to come right in and they'd take care of me. I brought in the part I bought, they charged me $20 to install it, gave me my inspection sticker and I was in and out in less than a half hour. Toyota wanted to charge me $300 for the same job. I will definitely continue to use all the Hynes shops in the future. read more

Hynes has built its reputation upon integrity. We have been taking both an SUV and a BMW to them now for about 8 years. We have been so impressed with their honesty. Several times they could have cleaned our clocks, and ended up not even charging us! Can you believe that! Once I had taken my Bimmer to the dealership and they wanted to install and entire new computer system (just as the warranty expired). It was over $3K. Then my husband suggested trying Hynes. Its remarkable...that they interfaced with another BMW dealership and the repair was a fraction of the cost without replacing the computer system. They are very thorough with safety at the forefront of their recommendations. Their fees have always been very fair. We have complete trust in them. Hector interfaces with the Customers and he is just great. We look forward to him. They're excellent about professionally explaining what is needed and what can wait. We drive way out of our way to go to Hynes. Its worth the peace of mind. We highly recommend them. read more

My insurance company sent me here to get an estimate. My agent told me not to sign the authorization to repair, just get an estimate. When I told the guy that's what I wanted he tried to bully me -- raising his voice and telling me he wouldn't give me an accurate estimate unless he could take the car apart. When I said that's fine, he then threatened that if he took the car apart he wasn't going to put it back together unless I signed the authorization to repair. When I asked again to just have an estimate as directed by my agent he said ok, he'd send the estimate Ina 'couple hours.' I waited the whole day. Nothing. This place is totally shady and untrustworthy. On top of that they are just plain rude and mean. The worst experience ever. read more

My minor rear bumper replacement due to rear-ended accident was quick, 2-day work on my 2018 Subaru; my Travelers insurance claim rep was great in arranging the Enterprise rental as well as duplicated Enterprise rental arrangement by Kevin Hynes, whom I dealt with; this was my second time using this Auto Repair shop; my fixed car was brought out to me completely cleaned and DETAILED inside and out, with my rubber mats so cleaned, all interior door jams, crevices were thoroughly cleaned, interior smelling so clean (and this was a new car since May 2018!), the tires were brush-coated with polish, and looked even better than I remembered driving off the Dealer's lot 5 months ago! The only tiny, tricky situation is the lack of parking on that Sheafe street, so make sure to try to park on the far side of Century Bank's parking lot, and tell the Auto Repair front desk staff so they know where you parked your car for them to bring into the shop's tiny, allotted property. read more

These guys are amazing! Nobody is in a good mood after having a car accident and I am no exception. Swerved to avoid hitting the neighbor's cat (next time I won't) and hit a tree. Chris was incredibly professional and friendly and helpful. I needed to get a few things out of the car while they were working on it and again they were accommodating and professional. They communicated clearly and gave me details about the damage and repair. When the work was complete Chris was again helpful and professional. He had taken care of everything with my insurance company and handled everything perfectly. The car looked AMAZING! They detailed the entire car, leaving it sparkling inside and out. Came to Hynes Auto repair after a bad experience with another local repair shop. Really friendly technicians, happy to answer questions, and I couldn't beat the convenient location. The only thing that freaked me out was when I brought a brand new car to get a state inspection. I pulled it up and someone approached me. He asked what I needed, I told him, so he got in my car. I thought he was going to just pull it into the garage I parked in front of. Instead he drove it away, down the alley to Brainerd st. I watched him turn and though "damn, did I just get hoodwinked?" It turns out that they have more garage space in another alley way behind their main garage, which is where they do their state inspections. Good to know! read more

Michael J Hynes Auto Repair was recommended to me by a colleague. She raves about them and when I was rear ended recently I needed a reliable and convenient body shop. That is what I found at Hynes. You never want to have to take your car in for body damage but if you do please try these folks out. My car was fixed in less than three days and they handled the additional damage found with the insurance company directly to save me the trouble. Also, they will set-up a rental car for you too.
