Office is super nice. People who work the front desk are the most patient people on the planet! Angel and I think her name was Natasha were super professional on the phone when a customer was literally screaming at them on the other end. I've seen a lot of front office people be rude and uncaring but they took care of things. Sunny did some laser stuff on my mom's nose. She seems to really know what she's doing. She's had this mole on her nose for a long time and is very delicate to not do any damage to it while taking it off. I've also taken my grandma to have skin cancer removed from her back at the Santa Clarita office. Dr. Lin and Sunny did a very thorough and neat job. About a year later when my mom went to get a mole checked, Dr. Lin asked to see my grandma's back since he remembered her procedure. Thank GOD he did; he wanted to see her ASAP. He didn't have to check her at all, she had just gone with my mom to the appointment. He remembered her. That's quality care. read more

I came to see Melissa in August of 2012 for a TCA Cross for ice-pick acne scars. She seemed very nice and answered all my questions before I agreed to go ahead and get this procedure done. I've had a TCA Cross done once before with a dermatologist and all went well, but decided to get it done here because it was slightly cheaper. As she was doing it, it didn't feel the same as my previous derm applied the TCA. He got a toothpick and stuck it deep within the ice-pick. When she did it, it seemed like she was applying nail polish on my face. But I figured she knew what she was doing. That was a BIG mistake. After about a week when the scabs fell off, about 40% of the scars got MUCH worse. They became wider and deeper. Five of them went from being tiny ice-picks to boxcar scars. I was LIVID! I called and scheduled to see her and she did not take any of the blame. She tried to use her gypsy logic and convince me that the whole point of getting a TCA Cross was to turn ice-pick into boxcar scars (which is ABSOLUTE BS). She also tried to sell me other procedures like fillers, and punch grafts!! It took 3 months for my skin to heal. I went to see my dermatologist and he basically said, "You got burnt.". Now it's January and I had to see a surgeon to get them excised to correct the mess this incompetent assistant made. Over 4K to get it fixed. I can't comment on any other type of procedures they do here, but DO NOT get a TCA Cross done here. Go see a proper Dermatologist or better yet a plastic surgeon. read more

I didn't even know if Dr. Lin would have a Yelp page, but I'm not surprised to see how many negative reviews are here. This was a referral from my primary care physician for a skin condition. The doctor saw me and prescribed an aggressive course of treatment with an oral medication as well as a cream. Three days into my taking the pills he prescribed, I developed a very severe adverse (possibly allergic) reaction to the medication, which manifested itself as severe chills and shaking, as well as a high fever of 102.8. It felt like i was dying. I called the doctor's office first thing in the morning, I told the receptionist the situation, and that I needed to know what to do; whether to continue the medicine, etc. She said the doctor would get back to me. NO ONE got back to me at all. I ended up having to go back to my primary care physician, who saw me promptly, told me to discontinue the medicine, prescribed something else for my high fever and symptoms, and noted that he was surprised this doctor didn't get back to me at all. That was my first and last experience here. Obviously, the doc can't be bothered to respond to an emergency situation involving a patient. Either that or his staff did not give him the message, but in light of how urgent this was and how sick I was, I'm not sure a distinction need be made. The buck stops with the doctor and the staff he has hired for his office, yes? No wonder the reviews here are pretty terrible. I would advise anyone looking for a dermatologist to look elsewhere. I wish I'd looked at these reviews before going to him in the first place. read more

BILLING DEPARTMENT HAS SERIOUS PROBLEMS: My husband and I visited this office in Jan 2013. We received a bill on May 8th, 2013, in which I paid and zero'ed out our balance. THEN.. Last week, A YEAR AND A HALF LATER, we received a phone call that we owed $225!! They threatened to send this to collections. We have never received a bill or phone call in 1.5 YEARS. (and yes, they have the correct address and numbers on file, we haven't moved or changed numbers) When we got the billing manager on the phone, she apologized and gave us a $60 "discount". I have been going to this office for years and do not feel this "discount" is enough. I see in comments below that this has happened to others. I even mentioned that to them and that they really need to remedy this on THEIR end, not pass their mistakes on to their clients. I question if collecting a balance after 1.5 years without notification is even legal. At the very least it is highly unethical. Consider yourself warned if you go to this office... read more

Went on accutane for 6 months with doctor Lin in the Encino office and it was literal hell. Making appointments was close to impossible since they would almost never answer their phone. I had zoom appointments for most of the six months since it worked better with my schedule. During these appointments Dr Lin would usually be in a rush and not friendly at all unless my mom was in the frame in which he would turn into the friendliest doctor ever. After one of my appointments he forgot to send my prescriptions to the pharmacy and it made a whole problem with my i pledge which was very annoying. He then did this 2 more times and really made getting my prescription stressful. I went in one day since I was having some side effects that needed help and I waited at the office for 2 hours (i'm not exaggerating i sat there for 2 hours waiting for my appointment.) At what was suppsoe to be my last appointment doctor lin told me i had to go in office but did not need labs. i did that and once i got into my appointment the doctor there (honestly not sure what her name was) told me i needed labs, i really didn't understand why they were wasting so much of my time maybe it was a way for them to get more money from my insurance. Overall, this office is pretty unprofessional and the way I was treated under Dr Lin was not acceptable to my standards. I had my last accutain appointment with Dr Layla to check my labs before finishing off with the pills and she was extremly nice and friendly and she genuinely cared and asked me how I felt about my skin. She assured me to come back if I feel the littlest bit like acne is coming back or if i have any concerns. I really wish I went with Layla for the whole 6 months she was really amazing. I asked for an in person appointment but was pressured into booking an 'over the phone' appt. I have a psoriasis flare up I wanted a doctor to see, but took the phone appointment. DR MICHAEL LIN NEVER CALLED- HE COMPLETELY DISREGARDED MY APPOINTMENT. I am shocked by the unprofessionalism of this entire staff. I even called when I didn't hear from the doctor and Heidi assured me he would call.... Trust the negative yelp reviews and experiences and avoid seeing this 'doctor' at all costs! I really hate Groupon - 9 times out of 10 I find that businesses offer groupons because they are incompetent in their respective fields - my experience at Linage was the 1 out of 10 that was great - the reason I continue to patron Groupon. I had a facial with Caroline at the Sherman Oaks location. She was competent at what she did, and gave me great advice on skincare regimens and makeup. I immediately bought 2 more with her for the future. I highly recommend going to her for a facial - she's wonderful. Additionally the staff was very accomodating in fitting me into the schedule. Took my mom to her appointment and we were early. Ended up getting called back 45 min after scheduled appointment. Then once the small procedure was complete, my mom was left laying on the bed and was told the Dr. would be right in. After laying there for an hour (while the staff was at lunch) she was finally released. Now we are trying to get a doctors note so she can return to work and no one will help her. read more

I came to Lineage Dermatology initially in 2013. I bought Groupon special, for Fractional laser...and didn't expect very much. I had the treatment done by Dr. Jennifer Lin. The treatment was really beneficial for my skin, and she was awesome, so I kept coming approx. every 6 months. This office is effing amazing!! I have a rare condition called lichen sclerosis and I was denied laser treatment by my insurance. Michael Lin's office was my savior!! They re wrote my letter to insurance, sent pictures and followed up and I was approved!! I received a happy approval call from my insurance and a happy welcoming from the office on treatment day! Dr Lin is sincerely the best dermatologist I've ever had. He is very courteous and always have time for his patients. I've started coming to him when I had a really bad acne that comes seasonal on my back 2 years ago. I already visited one dermatologist before and was never really resolved. When I started coming to him, he was very to the point and knows exactly what I needed. Right after I started the regimen he gave me with great antibiotic, my acne was stopped. I also came over one time just for treatment on my back with his Registered nurse, Sharmaine, who was also just wonderful. I had to ask Sharmaine if I could see Dr Lin that day just for a quick check up. Though I was not on the appointment list, right after my treatment, Dr Lin immediately gave his time and I was able to have an appointment with him. He even took his time and gave me some treatment. I've never experienced any doctor who would go beyond his duty and graciously treat you despite his busy schedule. He is one awesome dermatologist and really would recommend with my friends. At first, I was very skeptical about this place because of the bad reviews. The first time I went for a Matrix (CO2) laser treatment for my face Dr. Lin was very nice and informed me how the laser worked. I told him I saw him on The Kardashians and he laughed. I have to say that the star of this place is Sharmagne (RN). She is super nice, answers all questions, knows what she is doing, and cares about the patients. Dr. Lin if you are reading this give her a raise! I got a total of 4 laser treatments and my skin has never look better. Because I will be starting grad school this fall I'm on a budget and I can only afford the laser treatments with a Groupon, but I am always treated liked like a star. I have visited the Beverly Hills and the Sherman Oaks office and I have to say the BH office is way nicer. The Sherman Oaks office has better parking (next to the building) and there is usually no waiting. read more

Had the absolutely worst experience there ever. Sunny the assistant came in and assisted me but was handling me without gloves on. When I asked what was on her wrist because they looked like scars she said that they were warts that she got from a patient. Which was mind boggling that she said this so casually as she was handling me without gloves. Secondly, she did a biopsy on my blue mole and cut so much of the flesh off, the wound still hasn't healed over a month later and the cut looks completely mutilated. I've had this procedure done before and they made a clean cut and it healed in no time but Sunny did a botched job. I would not recommend anyone see Sunny. She broke medical protocol for not having gloves on especially with such a contagious virus as HPV on her wrist and she has no idea how to properly take a biopsy. read more

While the clinic has many good qualities, it is lacking the most important quality. There may not be a medical doctor available to see you. I had specifically made an appointment over one month ahead of time to see Dr. Lin, a Dermatologist; but when I arrived, I was shuffled into the clinic and told that someone else would be seeing me. Shortly afterwards, a Family Nurse Practitioner came in to see me. That is correct, a FAMILY Nurse Practitioner, not a Dermatology one, not even a Medical Doctor. While a Family Nurse Practitioner might be proficient in Family Medicine, he/she is not qualified to serve as a Dermatologist at a location where a Dermatologist specialist was specifically requested. Avoid Dr. Lin Skincare Institute and go find a location where an actual Dermatologist will see you when you need to see a Dermatologist. read more

While Dr. Michael Lin is an expert dermatologist, and his nurse practitioner Faye and her terrific assistant offer great care to their patients, the office is run terribly. Today I arrived at 1pm for my appointment which I had booked 2 months ago and at 3:30 pm I still hadn't seen Dr. Lin. I repeatedly popped out of the waiting room to ask for an update but the front receptionist was incredibly rude, dismissive, and defensive. I finally overheard someone telling a patient on the phone that Dr. Lin was not available as he was in the middle of a procedure and confronted staff that they had not been honest with me as to why I was waiting for 2.5 hours for him without seeing him. Only then did they admit that I would have a very long wait- which after 2.5 hours made no sense so I left without seeing the doctor. Stay away if you are a working professional on a schedule or if you expect to be treated with the common courtesy of honesty, respect, and responsiveness. Front reception/office management is lacking in these basics in dealing with patients. read more

The office staff is friendly, professional and efficient. Love the confirmation of appointments via text messages and the follow-up calls after procedures to answer any questions. do not go here with hopes to help your son with acne. they put you through one year of "treatment" and then sell you their own line. now my son is in college with the worst skin in his life and they will not prescribe him over the phone "we have to see him in person" guess what doctor??? we came to you in person for one year because you said we had to go through the process. no, you just wanted our money. thats it. because he came in by himself one time and came home with a shipping box full of your products. when i asked my son "what happened to the accutane? we were supposed to get it?" he replied "mom, they pressured me to buy all their products for acne and told me to get small needle facials" wise up people!! this place pushes their own products and services never rec'd what we came in there for in the first place!!! one year!! and now my son is in college...3k miles away and they wont prescribe it to him...need to see him again.....im livid and disgusted at their practices. A couple years ago my mother had a successful treatment with Dr. Lin, so I returned when I wanted some cosmetic work. Dr. Lin was both friendly and professional. I didn't feel at all rushed as I gave him my "wish list" of things I wanted done. He explained the different treatments, the good success rates of most, and the one spot that would have required a more invasive technique with higher risk. I never felt pressured. Dr. Lin performed two different treatments and explained in advance what sensation I would feel. He was confident in his work and at the same time attentive to my needs. I was ecstatic when it was over because the whole process had been so quick and easy, and the discomfort so nominal. Over 40+ years in the California sunshine, I've involuntarily acquired a growing "collection" of skin lesions -- arm, nose, scalp, etc. When I was referred here about a rash, for which I was prescribed something, they spotted some stuff on my scalp and froze it off -- but something they identified on my nose required more than a freeze. The biopsy result required in-office surgery; fortunately, the lesion proved to be minor. But most fortunate is that my referral brought me here. I have been to quite a few specialists over the years for various reasons, and I can easily say this is among the best care I've ever received. Comprehensive, caring, knowledgeable, compassionate, and never less than a good attitude. I've been here maybe five times in the past year and a half, and I always walk out feeling I've received the best possible care from Dr. Lin and Seung, two very fine dermatologists. read more
