He showed me that "whoever" tried to change the battery had ripped out a few components, actually showing me what the missing pieces were... Don Basch broke my watch, then claimed it was unfixable. When she brought it back for sizing they guaranteed it would be available between 6/19-25 as they were relocating to Sweden on 7/6 - they told the representatives not to take it if it wasn't guaranteed to be back before their departure: not obit was it not available, it as lost in a black hole of jewelers row in New York & nobody could find it for over a month. Their head of customer relations at the corporate office, Jillian Jara, lied to us stating that the jewelers working on the ring were employees of Brilliant Earth when they are in fact all third party contractors. Their store manager Andrew promised to meet us when we picked up the ring, and when we messaged we would be there he left early for the day. Now we are left with having to pay an international VAT of 25% of the value of the ring - & brilliant earth refuses to help in any way. Buy from a reputable small jeweler that makes their own jewelry, don't do business with brilliant earth.

After telling them what I was asking for, they mentioned that there had been work done on it before, and showed me additional minor damages and suggested we fixed that as well and add some additional crosses to make the ring fit more with what the envisioned the original design being. After they told me what that would cost, I said I couldn't afford it at the time. Instead, they told me they would resize it and make it nice for a lower price, which implied fixing the first problem I had come in for. Well I got the ring back, the repair wasn't made, and the band ended up breaking after wearing it three times. I wanted to go back to make them fix it, but I didn't trust them with my family ring after what happened last time. The chain I bought with me to sell passed every test that he tried but he obviously did not want to buy from me because I was a young black male. I informed him that I required a certified geologist, at which time he called to the back, and a second person appeared. After explaining that I had several pieces, I asked if they needed me to schedule an appointment. He asked to see what I had, and I reached into my computer case a took out a 3 carat man's gold ring. He studied it with his monocle and asked what I intended to do with this piece of jewelery. I replied that I wasn't sure yet, and his attitude immediately became confrontational. We all heard horror stories of smaller jewelers low balling the value of a piece, if they think you are selling it to them! I reiterated that I just needed to know an approximate value of the piece, when he stated, "I can't tell you that until you tell me what you intend to do with it." What difference does it make, as far as what I ultimately decide to do with my belongings. The value of the piece is the value of the piece! After he insisted, for the third time, that I tell him if I was keeping it or selling, I responded, "I'm about to put my things away and leave your store!"
