But this is no ordinary hardware store. This is also the Michigan hobby shop and hardware store Mecca!! We found the coolest remote control micro drones, remote control cars, planes, trucks, helicopters, trains, and everything else you can imagine. There was a complete aisle of Boy Scout supplies and another for the Girl Scouts. We bought several things for homeschool in those aisles. The train aisle not only has trains and tracks but everything you need for building layouts, gardens and miniatures. They had slot cars GaLORE!! If your are an enthusiast or a collected you really need to check out all the cool slot cars. I was drooling over quite a few. Be sure to look up when you get to the hobby area. Their attention to detail is greatly appreciated.  I am especially happy about their open house days when the public can enter the building and watch as the work is done to build and maintain the railways as well as operate the trains and the switching system. If you have young ones interested in engineering, machines and commerce as well as nature, this is a great place to visit.  It's wonderful for all ages.  Train safety is also a matter that is taken very seriously at this location and that is important because this area has a lot of full sized trains - and learning safety during play and work on the miniaturized scale is meaningful and provides an important public service. It's a great way to spend an afternoon.

This store not only had a good selection of Gundam model kits, but also of other Japanese animation series kits. Also, the owner is a very courteous person and offers discounts on all items. There is a display case that features customers built models, a magazine rack that contains many hobby magazines and a good selection of all types of kits. Some examples are classic ships, battleships, spaceships, monster kits, airplanes and of course cars. They sell Aurora Model Motoring cars and parts and also train sets, cars and lots of train set layout scale buildings and people. It is worth a trip to check out the eclectic stock of items at this little shop. They seem to carry items that other shops do not have. That's what makes trips to different hobby shops fun. You never know what you may find that they do not make anymore, and West Point Hobby just might have some of these things. I missed out on 4 kits that I should have bought, plus a neat Chessie Sytem train set that looked tempting. And suffice it to say, I can't even find them now on Ebay! Stop by when you have the time!
