It was 95% unseasoned and undercooked potato. The only blast of flavor comes from the salsa packet on the side. Otherwise you're literally paying for potatoes in a tortilla. Open 44 years (as of 2025) and this place is still holding it down. Best part... The prices!! The single most expensive item on the menu is their chili fries with Pastrami or bacon at $15.53. Everything else; every burger, sandwich, burrito, are all way less and in today's economy, that is hard to find nowadays. Heck, you can even get a Steak Dinner with fries or steamed rice along with a dinner salad for: $12.79!!! Yeah let me spell it for ya... Twelve, Seventy-Nine!!! That. Is. Insanity. And I give this place props for keeping it real. And just to keep it in perspective... My burger that was grilled to order, on an open flame was $6.39, $7 dollars even with tax. Besides the peeps with the crossed palms trees and big 'ol Yellow arrow, where you gonna find yourself a hot, fresh, made-to-order burger for 7 bucks with tax... I'll wait. Besides Burgers, specialty sandwiches and all of the obvious sides you'd expect at a burger joint, word on the street is, Michael's also serves up a mean Hawaiian Loco Moco as well as a full breakfast menu in which I am definitely going to try in the near future. But the next time I roll through, I'm opting for a burger special with fries & a drink. Hell, I might even splurge and add cheese & bacon. The only downside to this place... No inside seating at all and only a few tables outdoors most of which are in the sun. In the past, I would have given this place 5 stars, unfortunately things have changed. Not only have they closed their dining area, their food and service has gone down a bit. I came in today because out of nowhere I was craving a classic Michaels Burgers, a chargrilled burger the size of a small plate with large fries and a coke. I walked in and was greeted with a hello. I felt a little rushed, but it's a burger joint, so I went with it. Their dining area is now closed leaving a huge ugly wall and a few ugly tables in their very snug ordering area. The place looked a bit dirty and dated. My burger was paper thin, and their bun was bigger than the entire patty. Did I like my burger? Yeah, it was okay, but it's not anywhere near what I used to get back in the early 90's. As a family owned restaurant, I hope one of their kids steps up to the plate and revamps this Canoga Park staple. I have high hopes! read more

This is one of my go-to burger joints in the west valley. The burgers are consistently good and priced well. I only wish they were open later. The owner is always friendly and your order is usually ready pretty quickly. Despite living across the street from Daglas Burgers I prefer coming here. They no longer have an indoor dining area so its take out only. They do have some outdoor seating but im not sure if it is okay to use. read more

Best bang-for-your-buck breakfast burritos in the SFV. Seriously. Not to mention they have a super wide range of food items on the menu, which from what I have tried, is ALL good so far. Breakfast burritos with bacon/sausage are $9 flat including tax, which is an insane price for the size and taste. Homemade spicy salsa as well. Great burgers and fries. Great prices. Great options. Staff is all super kind and VERY speedy. It is ONLY pickup or delivery, so I recommend it as a place on Doordash or if you're stopping for food on the way home. I've lived in the Valley since the 90s yet I've never been here. Every weekend I treat myself to a breakfast burrito and I've been driving by this place for a long time. Here for 44 years. I really enjoyed my $12 veggie burrito but adding avocado is not an option. If you read the other reviews you will notice that seasonings and sauce is not their strength so take it to go and do your thing at home. No dine in options or a public restroom. The service was great and quick. You do have the option of sitting outside. Burritos are bigger and cheaper than what you get at the farmers' market. Owner is not friendly but who cares. Starting this review with, I have been coming to Michael's Burger for 13 years, I used to really enjoy this place. I'm not sure if this place has gone under new management or if there's new people working there however, most recently my experience hasn't been great. Usually the owner or the manager or the boss or whoever he is is the one who answers the phone and takes phone orders however, every time he takes the order, he is very rude. This most recent time when I ordered, I specifically asked the person on the phone what comes on the chicken club hot sandwich with fries, the reason I asked is because I have certain allergies to certain things, he proceeded to tell me what was on the sandwich and I told him what I didn't want on the sandwich once my boyfriend went to pick up the food and came back I looked at the sandwich and there was something else that wasn't mentioned on the sandwich that I also cannot eat, I called the restaurant back to see how we could resolve this issue best but the man was very rude. Rushed me off the phone and basically said you can either come in and get your money back or we can change it. I said OK hung up the phone and made my way back to the restaurant. Once I got back, the man had a complete attitude. He told me we're just gonna refund it. I let him know. It's important to tell people what is on the food in case they are allergic, the man just had a complete attitude brushed us off gave us back our money. There was no type of concern or customer service or anything. I will never return back to here again. I refuse to spend my heart on money on businesses that treat their customers like crap and I will no longer be recommending anyone to come eat here because they clearly do not appreciate their customers business! This place is so good! So I've only actually tried their burgers and steak sandwich and both things I've tried were good. They have a nice variety on their menu. The service is quick and friendly. The owner, Michael, works there too! Have been visiting this burger joint a lot in the past - always got a double cheeseburger. Recently revisited this place again to see whats changed. There is no dine in option - they have small out door area that is placed by the noisy road so I would not recommend it. The food is being prepared on the actual grill with flame - burger wise this place is really worth trying - I would say one of the top burger places in SFV - the burger has 1000 island sauce, fresh crispy veggies and 2 patties. Not the juiciest one but tastes great! The portion is big and costs only $9. They have freshly squeezed orange juice, soda and a bunch of other items in the menu. The service is always fast. I've been driving by for years and decided to give their breakfast burrito a try. My go to place for Bad Ass burritos is right down the street, which is always superb in taste and quality. Maybe the burgers are better- I don't know and probably won't try them. The all meat burrito was a waste of money. I got a giant order of hash browns- I ate a couple bites. The hash browns were unseasoned, soggy, and basically tasteless. Actually the whole burrito was basically a pile of soggy hash browns, tid bits of ham- specks of bacon, and tiny crumbles of egg. No flavor, no color, just blah. I'm sticking to Bad Ass Breakfast Burritos- and I suggest the owner tries one of his competitor's burritos to see how it's done right. If you like the greasy- spoon type place- you'll be happy. But if you are used to amazing taste and superior quality- it'll be Meh. 1 star just because they tried. Honestly I don't know how anyone loves this place. Do you have taste buds? I do- and I'm a total foodie. This meal sucked. The burger patty was almost tasteless. The chili was bland, too. Don't expect a dining area like In n out's or shake shack's. There is an alfresco dining area, but they have no umbrellas or any shade. There is a parking at the back if you want to eat in your car but keep the windows closed because there's a big smelly dumpster there. The food isn't horrible -- it's pretty much what you'd expect. But the restaurant itself has gone severely downhill. They removed the indoor seating during COVID-19. That made sense at the time, but, not only did they never put it back in, but the remaining outdoor seating that they do have is FILTHY. Tables are broken, chairs are missing, and the layer of dirt on the tables suggests they haven't been wiped down in who knows how long. I imagine the owners think of themselves now as primarily a delivery place (several orders were going out while we were there earlier this week) and have just given up on keeping up a quality place for anybody who wants to come by in person. read more

He normally gets me the mushroom burger which comes with a special sauce and is delicious! He gets the grilled cheese for the kids and they enjoy it.
