Been coming here for over 20 years. The food is always fantastic; breakfast, lunch or dinner. Huge portions, flavorful, and an insanely large menu to choose from. It would be difficult to come here and not find something for even the pickiest of eaters. You want something sweet, savory, comforting, light, rich, filling, whatever, you'll find it on the menu. The service can be hit and miss; sometimes it's great, sometimes it's lackluster. But overall the bright clean atmosphere and great food make up for where it's lacking. My husbands favorite is the ridiculously huge pot pie, matzo ball soup (he craves this when he's sick), or the Rueben and mine is the hot turkey plate (basically a thanksgiving plate) or the turkey Rueben. I've been to several deli's and this is the only one I've ever been able to find a turkey version. Parking can be a pain. There's a lot but they share with a lot of other businesses and if you're there on a weekend, be prepared to wait a while or try the street. read more

Normally I love this place, mostly for the prices and the quiet patio for my dog. Today was such a frustrating experience. I walked in around 8:50 am without dogs to let the front know I'd be sitting outside with dogs but needed the restroom first. When I came out, I retrieved dogs from my car and sat on the patio. I waited 20 minutes and no one showed up. Eventually, I got up and went to the front with the dogs, bringing them into the restaurant, which I wanted to avoid so that I could tell someone again that I was on the patio with dogs. I ordered my food and it arrived with no fork, so I ate with my hands as my server didn't come by again. When I was finally noticed upon finishing my meal, I was handed a paper bill and without giving a moment for me to say I would be paying using my phone, the server turned and walked away. She was about halfway down the patio when she said "I'll come back for it." Not sure what has happened to the service here over the years, but it's becoming less and less worth the price. I've come here twice. I love little diners because of the vast items on the menu and their flexibility to adjust for allergies. The place is clean and cozy. The staff welcomes you with such warm smiles. The prices are great. Not much parking though, as the plaza gets quite busy. The food was amazing both times. Super fulfilling and freshly made. I had the gluten free French toasts and they were so good! I can't have their maple syrup but they brought me fresh jam instead. So good! The second time I had their eggs Benedict and omg! Ordered the turkey pastrami sandwich - no cheese, no sauce, not toasted, just meat and two pieces of bread. I always get rye - theirs was a bit bland. Half way through our conversation the waitress gave us 'to go' containers that we did not request. My friend's coffee was never refilled though I saw a waitress walking around with a coffee carafe. First time here and it most definitely won't be my last! I got the build your own omelet with two types of cheese, bacon, and bell peppers. It comes with a muffin and a side. I chose the corn muffin and home fries as recommended by our delightful server! The omelet was stuffed with plenty of cheese, peppers, and most importantly CRISPY bacon! The corn muffin was perfectly sweet and the home fries were again, CRISPY! We ordered delivery. My husband ordered a turkey sandwich on wheat with potato salad. He received a tuna melt on rye with chips. We received a refund for the sandwich but not the $10 service fee. I ordered a make your own omelet with an onion bagel. I requested they mix the toppings with the eggs. The omelet was floating oil. The eggs were not mixed with the toppings, but were over cooked. Half of the avocado was rotten. I was unable to report the omelet issues, as I assume you can only report one problem per order. Great place for breakfast! Party of four on a late Sunday morning and got seated so quickly! It seemed like all the staff greeted us as we were walking towards our table outside. They have heaters in case the weather is chilly but luckily for us the weather was just perfect to sit outside. Ordered the chorizo eggs and the rice that comes on the side was so delicious! Will definitely return here! Our waiter let us know everything on the menu is good and that we can order burgers if we wanted since the menu is open! Can't wait to try that next time! read more

I've been to Country Deli many times for breakfast, and had sandwich takeout. Always been a good experience. Tonight, though, not so much... for me, at least. My dining partner had the dinner special chicken fried steak. Everything looked good and he liked it. He was actually impressed. Me, though, had a much less than stellar experience. Ordered the hand-cut pastrami entree. Having had this beore at Lovi's I was excited to have a good meal. But htat excitementn was quickly dashed. The cole slaw as good. The potato pancake was mediocre; lots of filler and not so much potato. The pastrami was the real disappointment. It was difficult to cut and just as difficult to chew. Had great pastrami flavor but was like a mouthful of shoe leather. I told the waitress, Paulina, that I didn't like it. She mentioned that it was supposed to be a little chewy, moreso than the pastrami for sandwiches, and offered to get me something else. I really wanted pastrami so asked if she could just swap out the meat for some of the sandwich pastrami. No problem... a plate of hot pastrami appeared quickly. Unfortunately, it was poorly cut, with the grain, and was also chewy to the point that I didn't eat much of either version of the pastrami. My husband wanted soup so we decided to try the Country Deli since it is so close to us. My husband ordered the beef brisket dinner, which came with choice of soup or salad ( he chose to upgrade to matza ball soup, large portion and delicious). I got the Betty chopped salad ( large) only $2 more than a regular. It was so tasty my husband kept taking bites of it. The ambiance is typical deli/restaurant, a fairly large place which was buzzing at 1pm on a Wednesday. The number of oeople there gave me an impression the food would be good. Now to the best, the food. I first had sweet and sour cabbage soup, the smaller cup. What was brought was a huge bowl, piled high with cabbage and broth. It was very tasty. Let's be honest: as far as "Jewish" delis go, Country Deli lives in the shadow of Brent's Deli in Northridge. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. Their prices are cheaper and it's usually easier to snag a table in this still brisk and lively restaurant. I came here with my family on a Friday night. One person in my party ordered the chicken pot pie, which was absolutely massive. She appreciated the size for the value but thought there were too many potatoes in the pie and not enough chicken. A child with us ordered the kids cheeseburger, which hit the spot. I got the turkey and stuffing plate, an early Thanksgiving nod. The turkey was tender and moist, though the stuffing felt a little dry and the mashed potatoes seemed like they came from an instant mix. Still, the meal was hot and I appreciated all the flavors. I also got clam chowder as my soup special. The texture was creamy, but it was perhaps under-seasoned with clam and salt flavors. The service is always outstanding and the people working here are incredibly friendly. While this is officially a diner, the vibes, meal selection, and dinner specials really give off an East Coast diner feel. That's invaluable here in the Valley. The restaurant is clean and dessert even comes with some meals, including the kids' meal. Though someone in my party mentioned the tapioca pudding isn't as good as Brent's Deli. My only wish is that they were open later at night. If you're looking for a change of pace or something off the beaten path, I encourage you to try Country Deli. I'm going to say something controversial. Their matzo ball soup is better than Brent's. There, I said it. It has more flavor and just tastes fresher. Now that that's out of the way, I'm a big fan of this spot. Everything is good and they have everything. Feeling breakfast? Get an all day omelet with hash browns and a biscuit. Yum. Feeling healthy? Greek salad with chicken. Done. Want a lunch classic? Tuna on rye with a pile of pickles on the side. Perfect. If you want traditional deli fare, the latkes and blintzes are also top notch. Service is always a 10. Your beverage will never hit the bottom before someone is there to refill it. Yes, it's pricey. But honestly, what deli isn't these days? Soo is there new management? What's going on with this place?! We're usually breakfast folks but a couple of nights we've gone in for dinner. There's never a hostess in the front for starters. You can stand there for a good 5 minutes while there's at least 3 people standing around. Then there's another 5-10 minutes or so waiting for someone to take your order.... Which is strange because they weren't that crowded. There's a tall blonde walking around talking to customers, not really sure what her position is. The last two times we've been our server was Paulina. She likes to stand around and talk to the cooks while your food gets cold. She also forgets whose order to take, and is often instructed by an older server... who sends her to the wrong table. Good luck getting her attention for a refill, extra condiments etc. It will take another 2 attempts to remind her to bring it because she'll forget talking to everyone. My chorizo and eggs arrived cold, I had to send it back twice. It was bland but I ate it because I was absolutely starving. What upset me the most is the hot chocolate has always had free refills. After asking twice for a refill, Paulina brought it and then says to me "We no longer have free refills but i made you this in case you wanted it. ........??!!??....... not the way to handle that at all. Stopped by for an early breakfast while staying at a hotel down the road. It was early so not crowded at all and seated immediately. We're offered drinks immediately. We both decided on omelets - wife the SMBC and myself the Chatsworth. Waiter offered hot sauce/salsa. I went with the hot salsa which was good. Both omelets were good and service was great. We eyed the bakery counter on the way out. Didn't get anything at the time but came back later and got a mini eclair, a couple of different rugalahs and a cinnamon pastry. What a great experience! I love a good diner and The Country Deli sure delivered. Came on a Sunday for breakfast and it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. We didn't have to wait for a table at 9am (although a line was forming when we left). Diner coffee is my favorite and these ladies kept it coming; my cup was never less than half full. Food was great too! I didn't think I'd like the gravy because it was so thick but it was spicy and I loved it with the biscuit. Excellent Breakfast! Service was fast, friendly and professional. Prices were fair, and baked goods were made on premises. Had breakfast here for the first time in years (I moved away) so happy to report that it is still wonderful. I'm a sucker for their homemade sausage patty and eggs. It's mild but flavorful and perfectly grilled. I had mine with perfectly poached eggs, and a delicious English muffin. My daughter had chocolate chip pancakes, my mom had a house made banana nut muffin (size of small planet), friends had pancakes with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Everything was wonderful. I kinda dipped into my friend's plates. This was always a go to place for us in the Valley and I'm so happy to see that they are still doing it right. Their lunches are delish too. Now breakfast is one of my favorite meals but i fast a lot so by the time I usually eat it's already 3-4pm, so when I get to eat breakfast I get excited. Nickel and diming your customers is not a good way to retain them. We have been customers of Country Deli for many years. Food and service is good. However today was a very disappointing experience. We ordered two lox and bagel plates and requested substituting fruit for the onion/tomato/cucumber/olives and were told that they couldn't do it and there would be an extra charge for the fruit. We accepted that (later finding out that it was $7 for each tiny bowl). Then after our plates came out we requested extra capers and were told there would be an extra charge for that!
