I went there this afternoon with a co-worker who needed some items for a 4th of July project she is working on. When we walked in, we were amazed at how clean the store was and how organized! We began looking at glitter and she was confused if it was the correct type to use on fabrice. A sales lady passed by and she asked for help. The sales associate walked with us to show us the right type of glitter to use for fabric, answered all of our questions and was there until we made our final decision! Michaels is a crazy cluster f*ck of crafting delight. You never really know what you're going to walk out with until you're at your car with a bagful of decoupage supplies, sparkly paint and 2 styrofoam balls in the shape of an egg and a dinosaur, thinking "Whaaa??" I usually come up with my crafting ideas AFTER I get to the store, because it's hard to imagine what I might make if I'm not sure that they'll have the supplies. Sometimes they have a great selection of the things I need and sometimes they don't even have hole punches in stock. Their website doesn't allow you to order, and it's not a very good representation of what they have in-store. This location particularly has a hard time with customer service. Half the staff has NO idea what's going on, where to find anything or what you're talking about. The other half is sweet and helpful crafting ladies, that gently and efficiently guide you to your destination and offer suggestions along the way. One lady (Lisa) even went to find me freaking coupons!! She told me about a sale I didn't know I needed and helped me get the best coupon for it. So, a bit like TwoFace in Batman...I'm divided. 2 Stars for crappy teenager-employees who clearly don't even like scrapbooking, and 5 stars for awesome crafters-at-heart who work here. read more

What a great Michaels store. This place is so huge! You can spend a ton of time walking around looking at everything. It really inspires the need to create too! The employees seemed very friendly as well. I like that everything seemed very organized and aisles weren't a mess. My only complaint was that most of the paintbrushes I wanted to buy were ruined. Not sure what happened to them, but some gluey substance was on them or the bristles were pulled out. Probably some dumb ass kids that did it, but it was disappointing nonetheless. Yikes! I don't know what happened but it's a nightmare now. Unless you want to wait in a line that STRETCHES ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK OF THE STORE, I'd recommend you stay away until at least the holidays are over. Since last month, no matter what day or what time of day I come in, the line is INSANE. It's like perma-Black Friday in here. This used to be one of my favorite shops for craft and art supplies, being well-stocked and close to home. I enjoy coming here whenever I feel like being crafty. They have great stuff. I usually buy their scrapbooking, jewelry-making, and baking supplies. I could easily spend an hour or more here! I love how this location is extremely clean and organized. Totally beats the San Mateo one by a long shot! Things are rarely out of place. I'm able to find what I want fairly quickly. Good deals and customer service is pretty good too! Overall, great supplies to help you with your arts and crafts projects. Definitely a place to get your creative juices flowing! I went to this location on Memorial Day 2013 to pick up some supplies I needed for finals week. I arrived at 5:58, unaware that they would close at 6:00 PM. The employee at the door was very rude. I finally got very fed-up with dealing with her and asked for a manager. A male employee came over and was very rude to me as well. I couldn't hear him through the closed door and he was gesturing at me like i didn't understand English. Finally a very friendly woman in a green shirt came over and let me in and helped me quickly locate the items I came for. She was very friendly, and understanding. She was the saving grace, and the reason for my 4-star rating. I sincerely hope she is a manager there because the other two employees I dealt with don't even deserve to work for the company. read more

This is mainly for their framing services. Had an old portrait that needed to be remounted and framed. Huge selection of frames and mats to pick from. The workers were nice, but the frame 'expert' was on a break, or at lunch, or something... we ended up waiting 30 minutes for them to get back and take our order. She was very nice, but basically, she just took the measurements and wrote down our order for us - we had already picked everything out ourselves. Got the 'ready to pick up' call about 4 weeks later. Found that they forgot to put the extra border around the mat. Went back 2 weeks later. End results were beautiful. Expensive (even with a 60% discount, but beautiful. My aunt, the subject of the portrait, was very pleased. And that's all that matters in the end. I would give 5 stars for the end result, but minus one for the long wait at the initial visit, and minus one more for us having to go back again because our order was not complete. read more

I'm currently taking a Decorating Basics class here. The class only cost $27 that's a 40% discount from the normal price. Its a 4 weeks course - 2 hours a week. I like this Michael's location because the staff is always very helpful, everytime I stop by here for arts and craft supplies for my kids' school projects; they personally escort me to the right areas. This Michaels kicks JoAnn's butt to the crafting curb! When one of my friends kept talking about how awesome Michaels is, I thought "Huh?" This is NOT like the one in San Mateo. It makes that location feel like shopping at a small Goodwill. The second I stepped in here I felt like I had to check where I was because they've totally updated and expanded their store. If this place were any closer to me I would shamelessly be there EVERY DAY! Big Tip: Use their 40% off coupons. Every time you purchase something, they give you a coupon with your receipt! Yes, every time!!!! Tell me you can't find one thing in here to love, buy it, and come back the next day with your coupon to shop all over again! Now for the goodies... I don't scrapbook, but I love paper and they have tons of great designs by the sheet (and they're affordable), kits, cute shaped punches, embossing and tag makers, etc. If you love Martha Stewart, her products are all over this store from wedding accessories to self-healing mats and rulers. I waited on their social distancing mark, second to enter, while they let 20-30 people leave the store and allowed 0 people to enter. The holidays were on crack this year thanks to Michaels Arts & Crafts. Walked in on a Sunday morning a few weeks before Christmas and the pretty glitterly, wide, wired ribbon was 70% off! Then add your 40% off coupon and you're paying next to nothing! SUCKERS! They also have a wide selection of cake decorating and baking supplies. The wood pieces and dowels came in handy for parol making. This place is like the softer side of Home Depot! I went to Michaels tonight (2.25.23) . My friend is having an engagement party tomorrow and had asked me for help to grab helium at 8:30 PM for their engagement party the next day. I immediately called Michaels to see if they had any before I drove there. A lady answered the phone and asked if I can be put on hold. At this time, I start driving over there while remaining on hold since they close at 9. I get there and I continue to stay on hold. I go inside and see a lady at the register talking to another male employee and hung up. I did not see any other employees while inside the store, and it was very slow along with no customers at the register. I went and scanned quickly for what the future bride and groom needed and went to self check out and left. This wasn't my emergency, but I was called by them for help and I relied on Michael's to get back to me since they had me on hold for about 9-10 minutes. It seemed that the employee's conversation was more important than my call. I'm glad I got what I needed, but this service disappointed me. read more

so i have a crafting problem...and with that comes a michael's problem...lol this is an AMAZING location. it has such an open floor plan you dont feel crammed in when looking for things. my only thing with that is that things kinda seem like they are scattared..but they arent...lol hope that made sense. huge scrapbooking section (walked through for my beads) and then the bead section is pretty large and in charge. always go when there is a sale. :) the staff was also super friendly...oh and small thing but i loved it...they had basket stands within the store and not just in the front. i'm sorry but that was genius...cause i always swear i'm not gonna buy that much and then i go dang it if i had a basket....bam there it was lol. good shop layout! lol TIP: this location is in a bag free zone so make sure you bring your own. :) read more

This Michaels is massive. I've been here a few times to satiate the creative bug in me. They have everything from fake florals, to oil paint, photo frames, jewelry making supplies and stuff for the kids to do. Michaels is so addicting. You go in there to buy ribbon and end up spending 2 hours browsing everything from candles to vases to wall stencils. It's a magical place. If you're not a crafty person, it will inspire the artist in you! Michaels has a huge selection and really great prices. I bought tons of stuff for my wedding here: dozens of candles (6.99 for a dozen), colorful ribbon, gold envelopes seals and tons more. The lighting in the store is great for determining the correct color of whatever I'm looking for (see also, my coffee brown vs. chocolate brown yarn dilemma at Jo-Ann's), and the store is laid out pretty well for browsing. I've always received helpful, courteous service here, including when calling their store to ask about a certain item I saw on their website. I've been shopping here for years and I've never met a more incompetent and unhelpful manager like Selene. I'm a paper crafter and this Michael's has one of the best selections of paper crafting stuff available. They even have decent selection of Tim Holtz products including some of his Sizzix dies and embossing folders. In fact, their selection of Sizzix dies in general are better than other Michaels stores I've been to.
