Quiet place, very organized and nice. I can always find what I'm looking for there. However, sometimes the staff can be a little rude, but overall helpful. I've gotten five painting framed in their framing department, and all but one came out great. The first image I got framed, the girl was very helpful and spent a long time helping us pick out a good matting color as well as a frame. Very good service for the most part. The sales, coupons, and clearance here make the prices incredibly reasonable. Over the last month, I got: 1. Two sets of dyed howlite beads that resemble neon pink brains, with spacer beads, $1.99 each 2. Black pearls, 40% off, coming to $2.40 3. Two sets of seed beads on clearance, $1.99 for a huge hank 4. Two beaded bracelets, $2 with coupon 5. Multiple things from the 50c clearance bin, including magnetic notepads, recipe cards, a gel eyemask, paper napkins, magnets, wire whisks, and initial notecards. Fifty cents! How can you go wrong with a huge amount of brand-new stuff for fifty cents? You can't. I could spend hours here. Very well organized and stocked with everything you could imagine. I'm not at all artsy fartsy but I always get tempted to buy things I have no clue what to do with. Ribbons, rhinestones, notecards, stickers, you name it. Regular prices are a bit high but very reasonable when something is on sale. This is one of the best place to come for scrapbooking supplies. There's so much for you to choice from that you can easily spend over 50.00. If you download their app you can get coupons for that day, but keep in mind that you can't use it on sale items. They have a huge selection of eyelets here. If you need stickers for a scrapbook, their stickers are broken down by category such as " holidays, birthdays, travel" which makes it easier to shop for things. I do see people bringing their pictures here to get frame, but I'm not sure on the cost. Most staff members are normally friendly and helpful and have always helped me find what i needed. read more

Definitely worth my trip to come here. I got exactly what I needed & more & for half the price with all the coupons I used. There was a sale on ribbons so they were 50% off. I had a coupon for 25% off all my purchases including sale priced items. I also had a 50% off coupon on a regular item. Overall, I saved about $10!! I would highly recommend using their coupons-- definitely worth it. All the supplies I got made the craft party were exactly what I needed. I was happy to have made it to this store. If I wasn't able to find something, the staff was really helpful in directing me to where I need to go to find it. Checkout was also fast & easy. A great place for engineers who feel like they're not crafty but it's like their entire perspective changes the second they walk in to this store. This place made me feel like I actually have a creative side! Ha! I walked around here last month to get decorating ideas for Christmas and boy did I go ALL OUT! I like Michaels and I'm so glad they have one that's closer to home. I've always frequented Joanns or Beverlys because they were much more convenient to get to. How appropriate that Michaels took over the old location that Drug Barn used to occupy because I am a crafting addict and Michael's sells my drug of choice: scrapbook paper. On many occasions, I have come in here with 1 thing to buy and have either: a) purchased 10x more items or b) spent HOURS just wandering around and fantasizing about all the things I want to make. I really like this Michael's location. It is centrally located right by the Target in Colma and there is ample parking (beware: be ready to stalk people for parking spots on the weekend). I'm so glad they opened up a Michael's here. =) They have great Arts 'n Crafts supplies at a reasonable price. Before I've had to go all the way to either San Mateo, Redwood City or San Rafael's store to find things that other Arts 'n Crafts stores didn't carry. As the name says, they sell crafty things and art supplies. From a scrapbooker's point of view, this is a pretty good store. They have a good amount of cardstock, paper, stickers, stencils, etc. The selection changes rather frequently as well. They've got plenty of scrapbooks. I just know that I have a big appreciation for Martha Stewart doodads, sparkly things, useful whatchamacalits, colors, textures, and designs. I'm not a scrapbooker, or a knitter, but the biggest, most expensive art projects I've had in the past year have been my wedding, and Halloween, dressed as Little Red Riding Whore. I love Michaels! You can get everything you need in this store - from fancy paper to a variety of art supplies to jewelry making. Whenever I'm feeling creative, this is the place to go. The store is huge so it can be overwhelming when you're looking for something in particular and don't know where to start. The staff is all super nice and know exactly where everything is. So if you're not sure, just ask! After shopping here so many times, i've leaned to NEVER buy anything full price. A large amount of Michaels supplies are always on sale. For about the millionth time, I went to Michaels to take advantage of the sale on yarn....like I didn't have enough but I'm like a kid in a candy store when it comes to yarn, and I purchase 99.9% at Michaels. Now for those of you who don't know, the yarn is right by the framing area........and, I've always bought my yarn there unless they were short handed or busy. Today, I went in and filled up 2 bags with yarn and Valentines stuff, then proceeded to the framing counter where two employees were.........one helping a man and woman with a framing project, the other standing there, looking, on the opposite side of the counter, chin in hand, waiting for........Christmas? Payday? What? So, I walked up to her with my bags and said I'd like to pay.........and she told me the ONLY payment they take there is for framing. NOT TRUE. So, I left all the yarn and all the Valentines there and proceeded to the front desk to ask for a manager. One came, but didn't seem too concerned, tho she did admit I was correct. She has a really bad attitude and horrible customer service. I saw everyone at the cashier wear a name tag, but except her. They always have all of the best baking goodies I can find closest to me, besides having to go to Target or Party City, etc. I'm an arts & crafts kinda gal, so most of my materials often comes from this particular store. The only complaint that I do have about this location (which is why I didn't give it five stars) is that every single time I come, the line is so damn long. It's a big store! You have awesome crowds! Why can't you just hire more people? I've never had any problems with the workers per say, I just wished there were way more of them. Most of them are pretty knowledgeable about the products whenever I have any questions. I always come here for one reason, FRIENDSHIP BRACELET STRINGS!!!! it is only .35 cents!!! it is the cheapest I have ever seen for strings and they have a lot a lot of different colors to choose from! While I was looking for colors I overheard this customer asking a worker about something she was looking for. The worker was helping her look for it but couldn't find it so he went to ask another worker, and then went to the back to try to look for what she was looking for. It's great that the workers there are willing to try so hard to help customers with their needs. On the other hand.... while I was walking towards the register another worker was walking towards me in the same isle, I had to move and she did not even say excuse me! Just because I am young doesn't mean you have to be so rude and not say anything and just keep on walking expecting me to move! geez. read more

I can so get lost in here!! I love crafts and I am in the process of making all of ,my families Christmas presents. I am here quite often. Everyone who works here is very nice and helpful. They usually dont have a long line to check out and if the line get long they always are good about bringing more people up to the front to help out. The only reason i cant give this store 5 stars is because their yarn selection is lacking and I called over the phone to see if they had an item in stock and if they didnt, if they can order it for me. I was put on hold for over 15 minutes (dont even ask why I stayed on the phone that long waiting) just to have someone come on the phone to say the person in charge of ordering is out on lunch, can she call you in about an hour? WOW! Never got a call, so i called back and a different person said they dont do personal orders. Well.....Alrighty then. Otherwise great place to find craft materials, and they have great sales and 40% off one item on their receipts. read more

My niece has always been very excited to attend these and yesterday was treated very rudely by one of the instructors including being told when asking for supplies 'stop asking or you'll get nothing.' This poor kid who was so happy to go to these classes and loves art so much now does not want to return. After this incident I don't think I really want her to anyway. I have to say this is the best Michael's in the area. They have the best customer service. An employee is always close by to answer a question or direct you to the makings for your next masterpiece. Smiles must be a part of the uniform, employees are always wearing them. Long lines are no problem here, not that they don't exist because I've shared my time in a few, but cashiers manage to get you through quite efficiently, never rushing you and always making sure you are leaving with all you need and came for. Doesn't matter where I am, I always come back to the comfort of this Michael's! read more

I hate this store. I needed a zipper for a sewing project. Visiting the store required a special trip from the other side of the peninsula, so I called and asked if they stock zippers. I was told that they do. The store itself is a nightmare. It's disorganized and the signs telling you where things are located are incorrect. I finally found an employee, but I had to wait in line behind 5 other customers to ask where the zippers are. She pointed me to a bucket that had about 8 zippers in it, none of them the right color or size. (For those of you who don't sew, stores that stock zippers generally have 6 to 10 different lengths and more than a dozen colors.). Including travel time, I wasted over an hour and a gallon of gas. I will never go back to Michael's. I don't know why they would mislead me. read more

I remembered that on their grand opening week they were selling acrylic paint for 5 for $1...what a deal! I ordered glitter online and the pick up location sent in the email does not exist; even the phone number to call was only a fax number. I am hoping I was not scammed on Michaels website. I was able to cancel the order, but that does not help if someone that works at Michael's is ripping customers off; and just taking the orders or cc numbers. read more

Literally 0 stars. I just spent an hour on the phone receiving the worst customer service from your hot line. In the middle of September I spent almost $65 ordering Halloween decor from your online store. 2 items showed up broken so on October 2nd I called to ask for a refund. They said that I could throw away the broken items and that 2 new items would be sent to me. Over a month went by and I still recieved nothing. Today I call and get put through the ringer with the with people who barely speak English on the phone to have them fight and argue me every step of the way. The second man I spoke to wouldn't even give me his name after I asked him for it. After all that hard time I wasn't even offered a gift card or even a comping of my entire order just because of the hassle I went through! Clearly through my phone number and email you can see that I'm a frequent shopper at your stores and now because of this I won't ever go back. read more

It's actually sad that A.C. Moore is no longer around because yarn is an important part of my lounge life. Michael's has yarn, but it's too expensive. The sales aren't even worthy sales. Most times when I visit I can't get the color I need or it takes forever to find someone to assist me. Not cool. I'm hoping it gets better... especially since this is the alternative. 40% off regularly priced item coupon every Sunday! This place has everything you need to make a Halloween costume (minus fabric stuff). Their inventory is usually stocked up, unlike some other craft shops I've been to. They have a very good selection for glues for whatever materials need to be bonded. Surprisingly, they carry quite a bit of baking supplies. Baking trays, decorating supplies, fondant, etc. Perfect place to get a nice box to present my not so nice cakes... Not the best stuff, but will do for getting the job done. Everything ends up being a good deal after the 40%, but the biggest issue is what single item to buy and when you finally decide.... a 50% coupon prints out to be used for the following week. I called to verify a price and inventory before coming out. Drove 10 miles to get here. Found the items on sale. Get to the register and was told they made a mistake and it was in the wrong section. They would not honor the 50% off. So I said fine, can I get the 40% discount instead. They said they can only do 1 item. I said do I have to get in line 4 times. They said 1 discount per customer.!!!! After they made me come out on their own error and wouldn't do sh*t for me for wasting my time.
