Horrible costumer service, I got a text at 7am that my crikcut was ready for pick up, I walked into the store around 9:10a when all of the workers were sitting at the front talking. one worker let me know " she was just about to call me to let me know they didn't actually have it but was waiting for the store to open", Store opened at 9. She said I would get an email ( I never did) no one offered any kind of help they just went back to personal conversations. Skip the academy store and go to the one on powers, kind and helpful people there. read more

I have always loved this store and can waste more than an hour shopping for any and every project I may take on or complete in the next 5 years, but the store is very dated. That said, the staff has never been less than kind, patient, helpful and accommodating to myself and my questions. The myriad of coupons can make it a little frustrating at check out, but with the help of the staff, I always leave happy. Today, I had a long and slightly bumpy day, and the girl who helped me find my item for a kids' school project was also my checker and was so genuine I wanted to hug her almost. How does Michaels stay in business?? Seriously. It's like 1/5 the selection compared to H.L. but with 3 times the cost.

The positives: The store had lots of stock which was arranged very neat and easy to view. The employee was very nice at the register. The painful parts: Why does returning an online order, which is damaged, have to be so painful? I felt bad for the girl at the register as it is not made easy for the employee. She had to call management for help. All I wanted to do was an even exchange for something in the store at a similar price of the online order and pay any difference. That could not happen. The online order has to be returned and refunded (and if you pay with paypal or an alternative payment method you don't get a refund you get a gift card), and then you have to purchase, as a completely separate transaction, whatever you want from the store. It is just painful, drawn out, and does not have to be this difficult. The line builds up at checkout with other customers because of all these steps. In addition, even though I had the purchase on my phone, on the app, the manager kept saying it was a return without a receipt. No, I had proof of purchase on my app. Sadly we were purchasing a lot of our wedding DIY stuff from Michael's, but now are choosing alternative places because this is the third return from online orders due to damaged product that we have had to do. And it is just too difficult to try and make returns with online stuff to a store. read more

I've been to numerous Michaels across the Front Range, but this one is by far the worst, unfortunately, it's the closest to my house so I'm stuck with it. The story is very dirty, and never well maintained. I can deal with the lack of cleanliness, but the major issue with the store is that it never has anything in stock. Looking for paint? They're out of the color you wanted. Looking for baking supplies? They're out of baking sheets. Did you check online before going to the store to see if it was in stock? Yes, but it's still not in stock. Hopefully, something changes here, otherwise I'm off to JoAnns! read more

I wouldn't do another frame project at Michael's (seriously messed up the job putting the screws right through the mat) it's fortunate it wasn't a rush job. But I will definitely shop there again. I picked up some gift bags that weren't marked and when I went to the counter they were more then I wanted to spend. The cashier scanned a 60% off coupon for one on them. Still too pricy, I was ready to put them back on the shelf. He asked if I was older then 55 (I'm 67. Yes!!!!) and took more off. Made my day! read more

BUYER BEWARE - Price on shelf is not WHAT THE ACTUAL PRICE IS ACCORDING TO THE HIRED STAFF. Krylon Spray Adhesive is listed on the shelf as $11.99, but the staff must want to pocket a buck, so they will tell you at the register that it is $12.99. When you tell them of the discrepancy they don't even have the stamina to go and check the shelf price. They just scan it again and state that it must have been in the wrong place. No, if that's the game they are going to play, I was in the wrong place. DOWNRIGHT RUDE IN MY OPINION. Michael's is a crafting-supply heaven, but because they have a ton of other neat stuff I always spend a lot more than what I intended. #firstworldproblems This location is just like every other I've shopped at: well-stocked, organized and very helpful staff. I was looking for a frame to fit a print with unusual dimensions, found it here- as well as a monogrammed stationary set, crafting wire, silk cherry blossom sprigs and a box disguised as a French provincial book. And truffles. Lots of truffles. I wasn't aware I needed those things, but as always I cannot help myself when I come into this store. High marks also for an expanded clearance section, and great Valentine's & St. Patrick's Day items, too. read more

We went there specifically to get cake decorations. They don't seem to stock Christmas or Kelly green sugar crystals. I actually thought their selection of cake/cookie decor items was rather pedestrian. I'm pretty sure that Target or Safeway stocks as much. several years back I had them quote on some framing. Even with the "50% off" they were just a little higher than Kemper Galleries, and not near the product. I sure am missing Kemper with the super high quality and low prices, but can't blame a person for retiring. I have found an excellent frame shop, but they are awfully proud of their work, hoping to find high quality and reasonable prices at the same place. read more

The other lady kept restarting a conversation with a woman who was picking out sketch pads and the appropriate markers, even after the woman, who saw me, said "Ok thank you that's perfect, thank you." With another customer standing there, that should be your cue to end with her and move on. I walked off frustrated. Then when I got to the front, I realized I didnt have my credit card. I asked if she could ring everything up, so I could come back in and just hand her the card. Answer, "I think it would be best if we start when you have your card." "Will I have to stand in line again?" Answer: "yeah". This is the worst location for arts and crafts that I've ever been to. I had my rewards member number in, as well as my VISA card, and my $247 transaction didn't pop up. They were going to try and give me $6.00 back for two items that added up to be over $10. The beads are never stoked and the staff is rude. Ugh. I just hate going places with crappy service and employees who could care less about your experience. This Michaels location couldn't embody that any more than they did tonight. Went in to get some basic craft supplies but couldn't find something. And the employee who we asked to help us find it didn't even stop to tell us where it was, she just breezed saying "back there". Seriously? She was the same employee who checked us out, with the same lack of customer service as demonstrate before. Her name was Theresa by the way. I have done a considerable amount of framing over the years and have recently discovered Jordyn and Amy in the frame shop. Each of them have an excellent artistic eye and think "outside the box" which enhances my creative approach to framing. I particularly like how they interact with my ideas and we reach a great framing outcome together! They help the customer consider the environment in which the art will be displayed so that it will look nice once you get it home. They are a breath of fresh air. . . unlike some frame shops that try to force you to frame things a certain way and aren't interested in the customer's input! Amy and Jordyn go the extra step, and for this reason, I have been a repeat customer many times over. I highly recommend them. Not only are they artistically talented, they are also very personable and professional! They have a good eye for detail and work together well as a team, always putting out a good product! I was at the store and while the people on the floor were helpful, the cashier was rude! After trying to use my coupon (I didn't realize that each coupon had a different date-I only looked at the first one) he started arguing with me. It was one sided since I didn't say anything. I was looking for a coupon on my phone and he continued to argue. Finally I was too flustered to look anymore and I told him I didn't want my purchases. After he made a remark I picked up my purse and left. The kicker was that he yelled after me (and I was halfway to the door) It's not my fault you can't read the date on a coupon!
