we had a very small job, and because of our age and disability, we could not do it ourselves. We also had the new parts that were necessary to do the job. Michael's said there was a $69 fee to show up, plus parts and labor costs. That was fine. But they ended up not coming on the day scheduled. So then they told us we would get $50 off on the job for the next day. That was also fine. When I called the next day to see when they were coming, I was told they don't do small like ours. They said they would come for $225 plus job expenses. When I mentioned the earlier amounts that were quoted to me, I was told that the manager who spoke with me before did not know their policies. I try to use local businesses every chance I get. This one didn't work out. I called a larger chain operation and they came over the next did the whole job for $100, labor included. Not a big deal in the greater scheme of things, but maybe Michael's managers need to get on the same page as their schedulers. read more

Ran into issues with our washer after overloading it. It moved out of place so much that the drain pipe in the floor ripped the drain pan out of place. Having had several great experiences with Michael's in the past, we asked them to come out. Scheduled same week. Rob was friendly and walked through how he was gonna replace and reconnect our drain pipe. Sounded good but after all was attached, our washer and dryer were further out from the wall. It looked a little awkward but thought it wouldn't be a big deal. We tried using it as is for a week before calling them back to ask if they could set it up the original way. Kevin came out to redo the drain pan. He mentioned that he discussed our situation with the previous plumber as well as the owner to prepare for the visit. He was friendly, knowledgeable about the newer builds structuring, and walked me and his assistant through how things would be set up. I appreciated the step-by-step so I could understand how it could be disassembled in the future. No extra fees for the second visit since it was a return appointment. We experienced a nightmare scenario just before Xmas... We had a water line burst in the wall behind our water heater, leaking into our downstairs closet and crawl space. My first call was to Michael's but they were booked solid that Friday afternoon. 1st Plumbing company (Hoffman Plumbing) that was available on a Friday came out and took 1 look at the pipes in the crawlspace, identifying the pipes as Kitech Pex. (Massive recall, fail rate, and class action lawsuit). They stated they wouldn't work on Kitech due to the liability and just left. 2nd plumbing company (RotoRooter) came out soon after on Friday, also identified the Kitech Pex Piping, explained the fail rate and the shortcomings of the design of Kitech that lead to the recall, originating not only with the fail rate but incompatibility with standardized repair methods requiring a full repipe of the home. They left without making any repairs with the hot water off "until they could quote the repipe". I called Michaels back, and got on their schedule for 1st thing on that Monday morning, informing them of the Kitech and "work" by the previous plumbers. They confirmed they could provide a temp solution to get the hot water back on for the holiday but a repipe would be needed. Andy came out on Monday, with temp fittings and a pipe to replace the impacted line. He explained it was merely a patch until the repipe is completed. Andy identified the water damage from the line to the closet, flooring, and crawl.... Recommending Rainbow International Restoration. (A++ crew that worked on mitigation for insurance.). Kent was out the next day the estimate. Luckily we had a crawlspace and not slab but 2 a two story house. Michael's Plumbing provided a fair quote for the work (unlike Roto who was predatory in their estimate by 250%). Their crew worked over 5 days, opening up the walls for access on 12/30-12/31. Returning the next week to install the new pipes. Unlike other companies which said we'd have to vacate while repairs are completed.... Michael's not only installed the new piping, installed new fixtures (might as well update in the process), but they did in a manner that we had running water and working bathroom so we didn't have to vacate. Their team came out after finishing the installation for a little finishing work while their recommended Dry Wall guy worked magic to close and texture the walls good as new. (Kent recommended Don at The Wall Doctor and it was another home run). It was a Griswold Christmas, with expensive repairs, remodel and construction... But Michael's delivered, working over the holidays and keeping us at home (and not displaced) for Christmas. A couple dings on the floor... but considering the size of the work/remodel... almost expected. 100000000% recommend Michael's Plumbing as they are honest, provide great referrals, and know that their worksite is your home.. not a bottom line. read more

First, one plumber came to make a plan to install a hose bib after looking in my crawl space where it would need to go. The second plumber they sent out to do the job made excuses for why he couldn't do the job. He said they were going through a transition and were now Liberty Plumbing. He thought the first plumber who came and told me they could was no longer with the company. What a waste of over $200! If I could give a zero star rating, I would! read more

My parents air conditioner went out. First they were going to make them wait almost a week in over 100' weather to get a repair man out. I called to see if there was anyway to speed it up, (I am in LA) they said yes, it would cost $175 for an after hours charge. I agreed. They showed up shortly after 5, and they did a really quick fix. They said it was an older machine but charged $800 for the fix and left. Not even an hour had gone by, and the AC wasn't working, AGAIN! We called again to have them come back out, only for them to say the whole system needs to be replaced. I told them I wanted the previous money spent to go towards the number they were quoting (he wasn't sure but somewhere between high $18k and $19ks...) They would not put that toward the new quote. I disagreed because they should've known the system needed to be replaced in the first place. I called Goettl and they did it the same week and for almost $4k cheaper!!! We had michaels finish up the kitchen remodel connecting the pipes under the kitchen sink. Now a few years later we are having to have it re-done. We had already let Michael's know after the first work was done but they didn't care , different color pipes were used and connects were to high to drain properly also the drain in sink was stripped and just left that way. read more

Water heater went out with perfect timing over the holidays. I called the day after Christmas to have it repaired. It's 10:30 am on the same day I called, and my water heater is functioning again. Even though it was the 'emergency' rate due to the holidays, I think they charged a reasonable amount for the work performed. Andy did a great job. read more

Needed two toilets that started leaking from the tanks replaced with new parts. The toilets were older model Kohler brand and had to have the parts special ordered. In the meantime Service Technician Rob explained exactly what to do to minimize the leaking until he could come back and replace the parts. The next day he returned and completed the job. The quality of his work was great. The value was the second best part very reasonable and the BEST part was the professionalism , courtesy and friendly manner of Rob! I used them for a number of projects. They serviced my AC and Furnace. I wasn't that pleased with the AC service. The unit outside ran very quietly before servicing and now at night it sounds like an airplane propeller. I think they made the fan out of balance somehow. Won't use them again. Had them provide and install a toilet also, cheap made, hard to clean, cheap plastic seat. They provide the toilet, but the installer didn't have a part so he left, like they never installed a toilet before. The service people that came out were very nice, but I think that maybe they want them in and out too fast. read more

We needed three projects repaired in our home. Two bathrooms with double sinks were plugged, kitchen faucet was installed six months ago, but it became loose and flappy and needed to be tied down and secured. The third was our bathroom that needed a new wax seal. they sent Rob to do the job, and he was amazing! A wonderful young Christian man that was kind and thoughtful. he fixed all of it with in two hours. we are so pleased with the results. professional service when we called in and Michelle was wonderful and responded fast and with efficiency. If I could give zero stars I would. For 10 weeks my elderly mother has been without heat. Every week they were waiting on a part. At week eight they tell me that the parts for her furnace are no longer available. I tell them fine get me a quote for a new furnace and a quote for a mini split. Again have to keep calling for a quote for weeks. I finally get the quote for a new furnace but no mini split. The quote was outrageous, so I call for a second opinion only to find out that they have taking all the parts from the furnace and left with them! I call and finally get a call back apologizing for the lack of communication and they tell me the parts will be brought back that day. They were, but just dumped on the patio with no communication! Have the HVAC company that found all the parts missing come back out and they are informing me that some of the original parts are missing! Our water heater's expansion tank rusted out causing several leaks to our garage. Our home warranty company couldn't find anyone to come to our house. So we were left with the task of finding someone on a rainy Saturday. We called 3 places. Michael's Plumbing called back first. Eric arrived within the hour, he patiently dealt with the warranty company, and replaced our expansion tank with ease. We have had Michael's since 2013 for our main residence. Each year we purchase their Heat and Air Service Plan for both our Reno homes. This year, like so many businesses, their service plan jumped from $185 to $220. I called because I thought that was a big jump and because we are long time customers with usually applying a coupon. I was told we would pay $210 for our renewal plan. Fast forward to the day of servicing when a technician was here working on the our furnace less than 20 minutes. He noticed he was heading to another residence of ours so he said we would settle up over there with the paperwork. By the time we loaded our grandchildren into the car and got to the other residence, which is only about 10 minutes away, he was gone from that residence as well. The billing he left behind indicated a charge of $220 for the second service, as well. Thinking they would surly correct the error in billing once the paperwork was filed in the office, we waited for the billing to hit our credit card. Today we discovered the charges were $220 on each residence. I am mediately called and was told someone would call me back to discuss the situation. Phil called me back and I explained my concerns as well as the fact they were many things checked off on the system evaluation that had not occurred. I questioned how he could know there was a carbon monoxide detector installed when he hadn't entered the house? I asked how he could check the thermostat without entering the house? Phil told the tech was advised him that my husband said he would turn up the thermostat. Checking with my husband, he denied any such conversation occurred. In frustration and exasperation, I asked Phil to credit our account to show that we paid for a winter servicing for both residences and reverse the additional $220 charges for the Spring visit. I explained I was absolutely finished attempting to deal with a company that didn't keep its word on a price quoted and for servicing we paid for that didn't appear to even happen. Phil also told me the person in the front office I spoke with wasn't authorized to give me any kind of discount. I would not recommend Michael's Heat N and plumbing to anyone. Update: I did receive a credit for our summer service. I called Nevada Heating, who currently service our fireplace, and they will be happy to add us and become our new Heat n Air company. read more

Plumbing problems are never fun, but especially not when you have a sick little one and it's the weekend! Our kitchen sink was backing up and coming out the overflow into our laundry room. After we got the initial pool of water cleaned up, I started looking for plumbers to snake the mainline. Michael's plumbing was one of the first I called and were able to come out the same day. The gentleman who arrived was super friendly and knowledgeable. We showed him where the clean outs were and after less than 20 minutes with the snake, we were free from blockages! We live in an older home, so it is likely that there were just several blockages in the mainline that had built up over time. From inside the house, we could hear The snake running into each one. He took his time making sure to fully clear each stoppage and then continue down the line. After this, he tested our water and drainage in multiple areas of our home. He also gave us some advice on things to do to prevent further blockages like this. My bill was pricey because I had emergency service on the weekend, but well worth it for the peace of mind and quick fix! Michael's plumbing has a fabulous reputation in our community for a reason! We hired Michael's Plumbing Heating and Air to flush and descale our tankless water heater. They set a time window and date for the appointment, called the day before our service appointment to confirm the appointment and called again 20 minutes before the appointment to say they were on the way. The plumber (Andy) who serviced our tankless water heater was quick and efficient and the job took about an hour. The pricing was very fair. We highly recommend this company and will be using them for our future plumbing needs. read more

We were unlucky enough to have our AC go out during record breaking heat in Reno. We called numerous companies once we woke up to realize just how hot the house had gotten and out of ten companies called, only three were able to get us in during the weekend for repair. Michael's was able to get us in about 5 hours after our first call of the morning instead of having to wait to the next day when both of the other companies would have been able to get us help. We recently bought a home and during our inspection, were told they we needed to have the plumbing looked under the kitchen sink and both toilets, as there was moisture damage. Michael's was recommended to us by a friend and they were very professional and easy to work with. They contacted us to let us know when they were on their way, which was right at the beginning of the window they gave. Chris was helpful and professional and got to work immediately. He even turned on our water for us after TMWA to get it turned on prior to this appointment. He said the kitchen sink was an old leak and no longer an issue, but did indicate that both toilets were leaking. He replaced both wax rings and supply lines in less than two hours. We thought this would be a very expensive fix, and we were pleasantly surprised it was under $400. My dad, who is a handyman, was shocked at the low cost and said we got a really good deal. Thanks goodness for the nice folks at Michaels! We were desperate, my husband is at home due to being disabled, and our air went out during this massive heatwave of 105+ every day. The house temperature was 85 degrees and there was no help with fans or window air conditioners. We tried to schedule service through another vendor and they were unavailable until Saturday- 5 days away. Hearing my desperation the WONDERFUL staff came out the next morning and even charged me a reasonable rate to fix the problem. We contacted several plumbers in the Reno Sparks area to replace our existing water heater with a tankless water heater, and Michael's was on of the 3 that actually responded. They answered several questions that we had regarding their company, and their processes. The day before and the prior to the actual estimate appointment time we received calls from the office for confirmation. Michael came out himself to perform the estimate. I told him that I wanted to install a Noritz tankless water heater, and even though he had not installed the model we wanted, he assured me that they could install it without issues. He walked me through the process of the removal and installation of the tankless. With parts, labor and permit. When asked "how soon could this be done" Michael informed me of their schedule, and indicated that it would be a 2.5-3 weeks from the time the proposal was excepted. I appreciated the honesty here, we were not in an emergency situation, and had no problem waiting a couple weeks. The day before and the morning of the install, we received calls from their office for confirmation, so they could dispatch their crew. Their crew was set to arrive between 7:30 and 8:30 in the morning, and arrived close to 8. We showed them to the work area and let them do their thing. Several hours later, we had a new tankless water heater installed in our garage. David, the supervisor, went over the "remote" and how to raise/lower the water temp as needed. He also allowed us to video him, when he explained how to perform the required service of the unit. There were two "hic-ups" to the install. 1) two of the pipes caulking were not completed and 2) the pressure overflow valve in the drive way was not to code. In both instances Michael himself came out and resolved the issue in a few short minutes. Even though the install wasn't perfect I give Michael's 5 stars, because of the excellent service and coming out and addressing the two issue so quickly and professionally. I noticed our hot water supply was running out faster than normal this last few days. We rent a house, so we notified are landlords and they promptly told us a company would be stopping by that same day. There dispatch called us almost immediately and gave us a window of time for a tech to stop by, roughly 11am-1pm. The tech, Eric, called early in that two hour window and gave me an approx time when he would be there and he was within 5 min or so of that time. Eric arrived and promptly gave me a knowledgable and easy to understand break down of what the problem was and what the fix would be. As the water heater was original to the house, even though it had some replacements over time, it was over 20 years and ultimately needed replacement. Our wonderful landlords talked to Eric, and after some valid questions, told him to go ahead with the replacement. Eric called his dispatch and they were able to get another technician to come do the job same day as he had a cancellation. Eric assisted in prepping the old water heater for removal while Sean (hope I spelled it right) came to our rescue. Sean arrived and took over the installation as Eric had other obligations. I asked for a time frame as we had errands to run and was given 3 hours, and it matched up with the amount of time the work took to complete. When finished, Sean explained the work he had done and it looked safe and well done. He left no mess whatsoever and was such a nice guy. Both guys were professional, knowledgable, down to earth, and friendly. We will definitely use them when we have our own home and would be happy to recommend them to anyone. read more

I have used Michael's Plumbing on a couple occasions now, and I have to say their great service is consistent. We had our water heater replaced by them a year and a half ago and then also had them fix a leak on one of our exterior hose bibs. Leak from bathroom. 1st they cancelled my a/n appt because I didn't answer their call in am. So I called back to question them and she said you will be on standby. WHAT?? No I have confirmed appt at 1pm. When I didn't back down, she said OK. When the gentleman showed up, I showed him the pipes for the toilet, and his first statement is will you have a leak in your shower. I corrected him that that leak was from 20 years ago. He said oh I was just advising you. He looked at my bathroom and said you have no leaks. It was only a failed wax ring OK. So he went out to his truck to write up his report and when he came back in, he was charging me overtime. Stated that he was here 63 min, which is hour plus overtime. However, he didn't account for the time he out in his truck. Second plumber said I had a leaky supply line and he capped it off. So Michael's plumbing estimate was worthless. Discovered at 5:00am on a Sunday morning that water was leaking from our upstairs shower and dripping out significantly through the ceiling fan into our downstairs bathroom directly below. I immediately tried (unsuccessfully) to turn off the water to the house, so I quickly Yelped for 24/7 emergency plumbers. I called a couple of them and left voice mails. I couldn't even leave a message for one company as the mailbox was full on their "emergency" phone line (that company was our usual plumber.) When I called Michael's Plumbing, I knew I found the right plumber as my was call was immediately answered by a live person at an answering service. Within 15 minutes of that call, their serviceman Mike called me back. He arrived less than 10 minutes later. Our problem was fixed 90 minutes later, which was right about the time I got a call back from another company that I'd left a message for. Paid $542 for the service and felt that was a good value considering the work was completed before 8:00am on a Sunday. Could've spent a couple hundred dollars less had they done the work during regular business hours Monday through Friday, but unfortunately, this emergency didn't happen during regular business hours. Tech Mike (not the owner) was a good guy; very professional and courteous. He said I was one of 19 emergency calls he tended to this weekend, and the company always assigns someone to be on-call 24/7 on the weekends, and their answering services texts the on-call person immediately after someone calls with a plumbing emergency. SUPER grateful to Michael's Plumbing and tech-guy-Mike getting things fixed so quickly on an early Sunday morning and giving me peace of mind. I called Micael's on on a Saturday due to a very low water pressure. Dispatch sent out George and he arrived within 20 minutes of calling. George and I suspected that the low water pressure was due to pressure regulator getting clogged and broken. He went into the crawl space to take a look and before changing it out, he suggested on troubleshooting the main water shutoff. We both went to take a look and found that the city had installed new water meters and left the meter 3/4 turned off. (Left meter is neighbors, right is after George turned it on). I really appreciate that they not only sent out someone on a timely manner but George's honesty about the actually problem. He could have easily turned on the main water and charged for installing a new pressure regulator. Thank you again and I will be referring your company to friends and family. read more

Let me start out with I called Micheal's because I had no pressure in my shower head. When the receptionist asked me the problem I told her this. Had the plumber come out and the first thing he does is take out the filter, puts it back on and it works. $180. hard lesson to learn. I'm sure this is not the first time this has happened. I had a very clogged sink. I called them and they could not come out for two days. I kind of panicked. They said that they could do after hours for an up charge. I opted for that. They ended up being able to show up the same day early so I didn't have to pay the up charge. They did a great job. My furnace went out on my home in the middle of winter in my old 1963 home. I was prepared for a massive charge to get it running as it's older and I likely need to replace it. My realtor recommended Michael and I was very pleased with my experience. He came as soon as possible and got it running again within 30 minutes. The pricing was very very fair.
