So fun to shop before Halloween and Christmas. My eyes are having a wow fest with all the bling, decorations, art supplies and more. Came at the right time since many items had 30-50% sales signs. I've been in Michael's tons of times and had perfectly fine experiences but never thought to yelp them. Today changed all of that. I went through the snake line to get to the cashier and bam, in addition to the 1 cashier that was standing there, I also noticed 2 self check out screens. And let me tell you...these screens were nice! I was able to breeze through with these super intuitive screens and all of my discounts were applied with no problems! You can't go to Michael's without coupons, so make sure you check that out before you end up paying too much. I was also shocked that there were still plenty of holiday decor items to choose from. Even though I didn't end up buying from that area, my daughter was entranced by all the trimmings and we both left with a huge smile on our faces. I knew what I wanted done and got treated very disrespectful by the sales associate (male) in the framing dept. He refused to provide the service I requested and chose to be very rude over the phone, and I had to retrieve me order due to his behavior. If you cannot provide good customer services, in a customer service role, when you need to find a job elsewhere. With my wife being such a crafty person I attributed to Pinterest she likes to make arts and crafts for gifts which makes my house is messy at times but Im not mad at her because she tends to find really good deals at Michael's or most things are either 70 or 80% off and if they're not then she uses her teachers discount I always ask her to show me the money she saves which of course she can't show me because she spending to save laugh out loud. This location is fairly new it's well organized and staffed the parking lot is shared with other retailers and restaurants but I never have difficulty finding a spot. I for one don't shop here often I only come in for frames to hang my Kobe Bryant Shaquille O'Neal Junior Seau LaDainian Tomlinson and Philip Rivers jerseys I might come in more often now that I have a son to buy more frames so that I can put his pictures everywhere. Date of visit: February 1, 2020 Valentine's Day is coming up, and I wanted to give my lady a gift from the heart. Since she'd given me the key to her heart last year, I wanted to give her the key to mine (using an old house key I found while cleaning)... so time to bite the bullet and make my way to the newest Michael's inside the Villages at Mira Mesa/the Mira Mesa Mall in order to find some supplies to embellish the key. I normally try and stay away from Michael's on weekends, as the usual patrons would bulldoze me whilst looking for their craft supplies. Surprisingly, this wasn't the case here; the aisles are pretty spacious, and while it took me a while to find what I was looking for, I eventually got what I needed to make the key a worthwhile present for my lady. And there were no problems using the online coupon I'd printed out - though I noticed that what you can use them on is limited to crafting supplies only. I guess too many people were using them to pay for snacks, Lego kits, and non-crafting materiel. Not too bad a store! read more

I finally got a chance to pop in!! Joyce was the associate that helped me. I am working on a painting and really have no idea what I am doing, just the names of the products I need. She was super helpful in pointing me to the right aisles and making sure I found what I needed. I loved the selection in the pains, canvases and paint brushes!! I'm definitely not a fan of this Michael's. I come here to get what I need and then I try to get the heck out of there. Once you know your way around this location, it's easy to find what you need, that is...if they have it. They never seem to be fully stocked with certain items. Mira Mesa is very much a creative community so I understand that it may be difficult to always be fully stocked. My issue here is the customer service. If you ask for assistance, they act like you're an inconvenience to their shift. I'm just not a fan of their employees. read more

Two stars because of a negative experience I had with one of their employees. I came here to get two certificates framed. The employee at the front counter was friendly but I cannot say the same about the employee who was working in the framing department. I came up to framing and saw the employee (whose name I will not disclose) at the counter, I asked her if she could frame two certificates. She said yes and I also asked her politely if they could be trimmed and that's when things got nasty. Rather than politely explaining store policy, first she rudely denied the trimming in a snobbish attitude by saying "I'm not trimming those!" I asked what the issue was because I informed her that I've had my certificates trimmed to fit at that store before on several occasions, since the dimensions were slightly larger at that time. She then goes on a sarcastic rant about how long she's been on the job and says how she will lose her job in a condescending tone before finally explaining to me about the store policy. I walk back with one of my certificates unframed because I didn't need to deal with her unprofessional attitude. Back at the front counter, I addressed my concern about the framing department employee only to find out she is a manager. I requested to speak to the store manager instead because that kind of disrespect coming from a department manager was uncalled for given that all I asked was a basic service. Thankfully the store manager was more understanding of my concern. The shocker is how could someone with an unprofessional attitude in customer service be a manager and treat customers with little respect. This is honestly something I would expect from an entry level employee but not from a manager. read more

How does Michael's hire so many great employees? This is my 3rd positive Yelp Review about the Michaels on Mira Mesa Blvd in 3 years and a) none of the employees are family and b) I go there infrequently. This past Christmas, my daughter bought me Rosary Beads from the Ohio State bookstore where every 11th bead is shaped like a football. After 2 short months, one part of the bead broke. I went to a respected jewelry store and they said it would cost at least $35 to fix them. However, they offered another alternative. The jewelry store rep said that it could be fixed using "jump rings". Since my favorite Michael's was a 30-second car ride away, I asked, "Does Michael's have "jump rings?" She replied, "Yes"! 30 seconds later, I was in Michael's and I had no idea about their size or their appearance so I approached the first employee I saw. Her name badge stated her name was Mel so I asked, "Mel, can you help me find "Jump Rings" AND if I buy them right now, can you put them on these Rosary Beads right after I pay for them?" Mel thought, gave me a great beautiful smile, and then said, " I will try!" 8 minutes later, my Rosary Beads were "Like New". The moral of this story is, " The next time you are in a jam and it has something to do with arts, crafts, etc, go to the Mira Mesa Michael's store and ask for "Mel". It's about time that there's a Michael's here! I went the day after the grand opening and everything was neat and clean! Sometimes when there are grand openings, it gets messy. BONUS: I went in towards the end of the day. They had everything I needed and let's just say, I spent quite a bit. I love how everything is in order which is a big thing for me. The employees were helpful when I asked and they even asked me if I was doing alright, and only asked ONCE, which I love! There was also a decent amount of cashiers, so the lines weren't creating a maze throughout the store. The only reason why I docked off a star is because the aisles felt so small everywhere. Sep11 2021: Google Maps and Yelp won't allow a zero of five rating, I called ahead to pick up framing which is very expensive and went out of my way to go to the store, was told that framing department the person leaves between 7:00 and 7:30 p.m., I asked if I could give my name to say that I was coming in for a pickup, was told to just come in even though the store is open until about 9:00 p.m., arrived 7:10 p.m. and was told the framing person had gone home at 7:00 and that I was not permitted to pick up my framing. My bad experience at this place almost made me loose my mind. I could not believe the level of professional incompetence and ineptitude from the staff at the store. This is to include 3 different store managers I had to deal with to get my problem resolve. The employee that takes the cake is Dean in the framing department. I made a total of 6 different trips to the store just to find out that each time the framing in my picture was done incorrectly. The icing on the cake was Dean's lack of customer service and sympathy towards my situation. I too wish there was a way I could rate zero stars, and I noticed I am not the only one that had the displeasure to deal with Dean. Corporate office, how is it that this person still employed?!! It's really hard for my to review craft stores because they generally are super big and not enough staff, I feel the same here, some days are hit or miss, and even if I have a bad experience, I'll still come back because they sell things here I cannot get at target and they also have a better selection on cricut supplies and more variety of different types of vinyl than at hobby lobby. Anyways getting to the point on why I wrote the review, Jessica helped us out, but sure if she is generally up front, I usually all over the store working in display or organizing but she opened a register and took us when they were busy, she was so nice. We asked about a product and she was able to give us great information, and when doing a price adjustment on another product she didn't seem annoyed like another clerk was, but that has only been a one time occurrence as their staff is pretty amazing. Almost always low in inventory so even when they advertise new items, it's not available in store or online. Why bother then?

A few weeks ago I went in to buy some crafts and while I had difficulty finding an item I stopped an associate who's name I cannot remember. She was shorter and possibly was wearing an apron, and if I am remembering correctly, she may have been apart of management. after asking her for some assistance I received the utmost attitude for interrupting something she was working on. Completely ruined my time making me feel like it was my fault for asking for help, that is exactly what you are here to help me with.
