A very decent place for very solid burgers. The only place opened in that area after we visited the Winter lights , was recommended by one of the volunteers from the Trustees. Thank you so much! Casual dining with an attached tavern. We ate an early lunch in the dining room and had Missy for our server. She was great! Attentive and refined our drinks before they were empty! I had the open faced Rockwell Ruben sandwich and it was HUGE! Very tasty and good ratio of meat to kraut to dressing. My husband had the meatloaf special and was very impressed with the meatloaf and the homemade garlic bread. A no frills lunch that was wholesome and delicious. We will be back! read more

This time of year, Stockbridge is always busy and crowded, so we expected most places to be packed. We first tried two other spots, but both were standing room only, so we decided to venture over to Michael's, just a block down from the famous Red Lion Inn--and we're so glad we did! They seated us in the Tavern area, which was lively and comfortable, with great booth seating that worked perfectly for us. We started with Michael's buffalo wings, and they were absolutely delicious. For dinner, we shared a very tasty pasta dish with a wonderfully generous portion. The burger came out a bit rarer than we typically prefer, but everything still tasted great overall. Came here on a Sunday night with a party of 4. We opted for seating at the bar for quicker service. The bar tender was amazing. She was super friendly and on top of everything. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, mozzarella sticks and clam chowder. HOLY CLAMS! I've never had a clam chowder loaded with so many clams!, but it was a tad bit salty. A few beers on tap, a cider and "Rita is a Hottie" spicy margarita. The margarita was okay, but it tasted like a regular margarita and sour mix. I truly do not understand the low ball reviews. We've been here dozens of times over the years, daytime, weekends, weeknights and never had a bad experience. Always prompt attentive servers, nice beer selection and great food. The chili is always out of this world and the wings are tops. All it takes is a couple of low balls to drag down an establishment. I tried to order the chicken sandwich that I have had in the past, and I was told by the server that the chef doesn't like to make things off the lunch menu for dinner. I guess I should have paid attention to the reviews and to the fact that reservations were not necessary. We ate in the restaurant side because the pub had men in baseball caps sitting at the bar. It also had keno and smelled funny. We were handed a menu but I had to get up and go looking for the drinks menu. Food was awful. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan which was inedible. They had left the skin on the eggplant slices so they were bitter as well as tasteless. Spaghetti was overcooked and sauce was not special. My companion had an overcooked Swordfish steak served with potatoes and zucchini. We also had soup ( French onion, best part of the meal) and each of us had a glass of the house wine. Yesterday at 5pm our group tour One If By Land tours had dinner this was the worst dinning experience, service was poor, mediocre food, small portions, the host and two waitresses were nasty and rude. Even our tour guide followed all the required policies we were surprised that they had nothing ready, 30 minutes to be served , asking for napkins and silverware several times the chicken and fish was no served for the number of people who asked in advance. the bread was no served for everyone , one person was forgotten he never received his dinner the excuse was that they run out of food. We were there for a drink around 315 on Sunday the 8th. We wanted food but we're told the kitchen was closed. We had planned to have just one drink and then find food elsewhere. The drinks were lovely and we paid for them and tipped. We were getting up to leave and the bartender said the kitchen was caught up and would begin serving at 4. So we liked the place and decided to stay. We tried to order drinks. One of us was lucky enough to order another Bloody Mary. I wanted a beer and the third wanted a cosmo. It was if we became invisible! The reason we were told was the original bar tender was leaving. Ok no problem for us but it then took until 415 or so that someone took our food order. We asked if we could order drinks and we're told not yet, as she was busy. We watched as others were served drinks. It was apparent the majority seated were regulars. One other patron saw our dismay and came to ask us if we were able to order food or drinks yet. We had the food in but still could not get drink orders in! At around 430 the bartender took our drink order. It was at 5 that the food finally came. We had to eat fast as we were scheduled for the Naumkeag event. We are not cheap tippers but decided 15% was all we would tip this time. The food only came out after we flagged the bartender down! It was barely warm. Such a disappointment! We stopped in Stockbridge for lunch, looked for parking, and found a spot across the street from Michael's. My wife had french onion soup, a salad and a turkey burger - all as it should be. I thought the fish and chips dish was very because of the way that both the fries and fish batter were deep fried very crispy. Other unanticipated delights were the tartar sauce and coleslaw. We both ordered from that. I had the Turkey Wrap (but I found no bacon in it), and the wife had the Open Faced Turkey Sandwich. Both were certainly edible, and the price was right. Awful, horrific service. The bartender is one of the most cantankerous people I've ever interacted with. She is grumpy, rude, does not pay attention to orders, and talks down to everyone. Allegedly she's a teacher by day which is absolutely terrifying. The servers sit in the dead front half of the restaurant and do nothing. The food is bad. I have never seen a manager and the owner doesn't care about the business at all. Menus are misspelled, websites and social media are never updated. This place looks like it's headed for the chopping block and I don't think anyone will miss it. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

Just amazing and not in a good way. In the midst of a pandemic they decide that all the customers should be jammed into one small section while leaving half of the restaurant empty. This I was told was for the convenience of the wait staff. When we inquired about sitting outside we were told that there is no outdoor dining today due to heat. Heat? It was 80 degrees in August! Eggplant parm taste was fine, although what you get for the cost is not a value; no bread for the table and, if you want a house salad, that's going to cost you more. Very surprised when the hostess handed us our check without the waitress coming back to ask if we wanted coffee or dessert. But when I saw the 18% gratuity automatically added to the check (regardless of the number in your party), I understood.
