    Lisa's Favorite

I don't know much about the area but after some brief research Alta seemed like one of the places we should make sure to visit during a short stay in the Berkshires. We were able to snag a reservation for 6pm on a Wednesday. The staff were exceptionally friendly, especially the host. The clientele is definitely of a post-retirement age. A lot of walkers around. Like I said already, the service was excellent. The cocktail menu was also enticing. I ordered Lisa's Favorite (house jalapeno infused tequila, agave, muddled orange and cilantro, lime juice) and idk who Lisa is but we have very similar taste. GF ordered the Cherry Rose Gimlet with gin, lime, tart cherry, and rose syrup. These cocktails were not only a sight to behold but were some of the best cocktails I have ever had. They weren't too strong or too sweet. The flavors were balanced perfectly. Really outstanding drink program. We started things off with the burrata. The toast with that (arugula?) pesto topped with the burrata was so fucking good. The toast was surrounded by a sea of strawberries and cherry tomatoes in a balsamic like dressing that I unfortunately got a touch of on my shirt sleeve. Ugh. I could hae done without the strawberry and tomato thing but the rest was very good. I LOVE the vegetarian options, the possibility of having tofu as a protein in addition to the more standard animal based options. I ordered the spaghetti with tofu. The serving was GIGANTIC. Like an entire plate full of pasta and two massive slabs of grilled tofu. You definitely get your money's worth. When I put it in a box (and then subsequently left in the hotel fridge the next day) the box was legit heavy. It would have been a nice tool if I had been attacked on the way home but this does seem like a low crime area. My only criticism was that I wasn't particularly fond of the flavors of the pasta. It was a little sweet and I would have preferred more of a savory/umami direction with spaghetti but I am very opinionated regarding when and where things should be sweet. There is a time and place. Ice cream? Yes. Candy? Yes. Popcorn? No. Spaghetti? No. I will say that I appreciated that they didn't salt the shit out of everything just to make it taste good. I can see why people love this place, I think it's a very solid spot, I just probably ordered the wrong thing. I almost forgot, GF ordered the trout special which she seemed to really enjoy.

On vacation, and per recommendation from our hotel decided to come here. Definitely, glad we came here. We sat down and we quickly got our water and bread. Shortly after we ordered drinks. Our waitress told us the specials and gave us a moment to think it over. My husband and i decided to share the smoked braised brisket - beautiful presentation. My husband had the pork cheeks bourguignon and I had the special- rainbow trout with mashed potatoes, spinach, etc. Both dishes came out hot and both were delightfully satisfying. The manager even came over to check on us and to make sure we were having a good meal and that service was good. I was very appreciative of his attentiveness. We ended with the chocolate mi-cuit. Perfect indulgence to share. Overall, excellent meal. For anyone in the area, this is definitely a fine dinning experience.

Cosy and welcoming. Highly attentive staff. The tofu appetizer was fantastic! Loved the cod entree! No wonder the ratings are so good! Top notch!

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely dinner while visiting the scenic town of Lenox with its beautiful Berkshire Botanical Garden, Ventfort Gilded Age Mansion and of course, the famous Tanglewood venue nearby. We were graciously greeted by the host and very good server. For dinner we enjoyed - Mediterranean salad and Foie Gras to start. For entrées, I enjoyed the seared Duck and hubs enjoyed the Fettuccine pasta. Both were accompanied by excellent wine recommendations that complimented the cuisine. To finish for dessert we had the Chocolate Mi-Cuit and ice cream for my birthday celebration. It was a wonderful evening. Thank you!

You can't go wrong with anything on the menu here! We each started with a wine flight of 3, pre-selected by the staff. All of the wines were incredible and a generous serving for $18. The fresh bread and butter just melts in your mouth. We shared a mushroom appetizer that was so tasty, we ended up using the mushroom sauce on our bread, omg! I enjoyed the special - a steelhead trout over potatoes and asparagus with an amazing chive sauce. We were celebrating our anniversary and the server brought out two pistachio macaroons, nice touch and so thoughtful. Alta knows hospitality! During our meal, the owner stopped by to check in on our experience and even provided some tips for preparing fish at home. 100/10!

Wonderful atmosphere for a casual evening in Lenox. Service was polite and attentive and made us feel welcome. Unfortunately we made the "mistake" of eating a late lunch so the more substantive options escaped us this time. That didn't prevent us from trying some delicious wine with appetizers that were on point.

Upon entering my wife and I were graciously greeted by the host. He was kind and genuinely happy to serve us. We were shown to our table and met by Carolyn our server. She was wonderful and attentive from start to finish. She offered suggestions, specials, and helped pair our wines. I ordered the duck and my wife the tenderloin, both were cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. They were delicious and hot. We had a wonderful dinner and dessert was fantastic too. The Paris-Brest and Chocolate Mi-Cuit were delicious and finished the meal off nicely. The ambience was comforting and inviting and not to over the top, just perfect. We really enjoyed our meal and dinning experience and highly recommend Alta!

Lenox has some really cool spots and Ombra is one of them. Recommended by a local, we stopped here on Valentine's Day after our dinner for a nice glass of wine. The place was crowded but luckily a few people were leaving so we scored some seats at the bar. I ordered a glass of Nebbiolo from Italy which was good. My husband had a beer. The place is so cute and very romantic with dim lights, a great wine selection and their food looked so good. Unfortunately, we were so full that we did not end up ordering anything. Although, the french fries were calling my name. Ombra is a place that I could see us coming to almost every week and not getting tired of it. We met a local who is very nice and told us how Ombra is very popular. I think we will have to come back in the spring/summer to get those french fries :) If you are ever in Lenox definitely make your way to Ombra for a nice glass of wine or try a cocktail. This is the perfect date night spot for sure whether you start or end your evening here, you will be happy! Cheers~

(I've been to Florence in the last 6 months...and I don't recall that the food is like this necessarily, but that's beside the point). They even have some classics like rigatoni in a meat ragu (in case you bring your very old mother who misses her era of Italian food). We waited for some time for our food and weren't offered any bread. Which at first I thought was kind of different compared to other Italian restaurants or steakhouses which is fine BUT At the end of the meal, we saw the server proactively giving bread to all the tables around us. When I asked why we weren't offered any, he just said it was 'by request only.' Which is inaccurate coz I heard him say --here's some bread and olive oil to eat while you guys are waiting. We were well-dressed, smiling, polite, respectful and noticed we were the only Asians in the room. It honestly felt were singled out or ignored, especially seeing everyone else get better service. It was an unwelcoming experience. Even when we first came in we weren't accompanied to our table the guys just pointed --there that's your table. We didn't sit yet because the table was plated for 4 people and there's 5 of us. So when he noticed we're still standing he approached us and I said sorry I wasn't sure if this is for us because there's 5 of us and he said unapologetically "well you didn't call to reserve". Well even if we didn't reserve it doesn't mean we cannot get a little customer service.. like " I apologize for the inconvenience it's the only table available " or is there anything else I can offer to make it a little more comfortable for you and your family. Overall is a 3 over 5. Steak was good. The bread itself wasn't really a big deal it's just the being treated differently.

Even after trying many other restaurants in the area over the years, this has remained one of our most reliable favorites. Tonight, we were seated at a cozy booth in the back, which was much quieter and more relaxing away from the vibrant bar area in the front. We each ordered a cocktail. Hubby had the Berry Tootsie and enjoyed it very much, while I ordered the Lavender Lemon Drop. My cocktail was light, refreshing, citrusy, and very easy to enjoy. Both cocktails were generously poured and filled right to the brim. For our mains, I ordered the full-size Linguine Zuppa di Pesce, while hubby had the Chicken Parmigiana with a side of Brussels sprouts. My pasta was hearty, flavorful, and generously loaded with fresh seafood. Every bite felt comforting and satisfying without being overly heavy. The Chicken Parm was tender inside and topped with a flavorful tomato sauce and perfectly melted cheese. It was classic Italian comfort food done very well. Despite already having enough leftover pasta to take back to the resort, I still could not pass up the mango gelato for dessert. It was absolutely delicious -- light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced in sweetness, making for a wonderful ending to the meal. The hospitality was superb. Tiffin, our server, was wonderful throughout the evening. She was gracious, engaging, and attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed with her warm smile and thoughtful service from start to finish.
