A fantastic place for terrific food and casual lunching. My colleague and I were here last week and we chose it because of all the great reviews. What they offer is a big variety of deli sandwiches and menu items that are all fresh and delicious. This is a great getaway from the "Sysco" type food" you get at the fast food and fast, casual restaurants. This is a family owned place that takes pride in making you happy. By coincidence both of us selected the "godfather" sandwich. They give you a choice of either soft roll or hard roll. We both went with a hard roll. On this sandwich you get. grilled chicken, prosciutto, melted, sharp, provolone cheese, red peppers, and balsamic vinaigrette. Just writing this review makes me wanna go right now and get another one. Topped off lunch with an orange soda. The owner is a third generation family member. Ordered delivery from MIchelangelo's last week. I ordered The City Hall, a "Special Combinations" sandwich consisting of Premium roast beef with cheddar cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato, Bermuda onion and horseradish sauce. I ordered a Medium, which cost $14.48. The sandwich was definitely fresh, and the bread was pretty good. There was not enough meat, in my opinion, and the sandwich as a whole wasn't very flavorful. The price was on the higher side - I think it was worth about $12, but not the $14.48 that I paid. I also ordered a bag of chips, which was $3.75 for a regular single serving bag. Again, too pricey for what I received. All in all, I would go back to Michelangelo's in a pinch, but there are so many other great delis in the area, so I would prefer to go elsewhere. read more

I decided to try this place solely on the reviews and I did not have high expectations. Every time I try a new sandwich place based on reviews I am disappointed. This place is amazing. I got a small godfather on a hard roll and it was the best sandwich I have had in a while. The ratio of all the ingredients to the bread was spot on. The grilled chicken was flavorful and delicious. The bread tasted homemade and was the perfect amount of crunch. It was pretty busy around lunch time and seemed like they were either short staffed or training someone new. It took about 10 to 15 minutes but the end result was worth it. The place is pretty big with lots of seating as well as drink, sides and even cookies for dessert. Pass through this town and by this place every so often when I'm working down there. So glad I took a shot and went in one day. One of the best Italian grinders I've ever had. I love it here. I've been there three times in the last two weeks just for their chicken salad. When I lived out of state, I would come here specifically every time I came home because I craved their food. Consistent and delicious family owned deli. The owner and his wife And their children are so incredibly kind. I've literally been coming here since I was a teenager and it's been the same people. You can tell they work hard and take a lot of pride in what they do. And they're always smiling. That alone would keep me coming back, but on top of their kindness the food is also excellent. Fast, fresh and flavourful - Michelangelo's gets a big thumbs up from me. I usually try and vary my lunch spots when I'm in a new area for a few days, however Michelangelo's was so good I had to go back for more. First time round I had their grilled chicken salad which was beautiful especially as the chicken was moist, well seasoned and fresh off the grill. The salad bowl was pretty deep too, so for a salad it was extremely filling. On my return I went for the Chicken Florentine, with spinach, tomato & cheese and a side salad. Once again, delicious! Wherever they're getting their chicken from it's great quality! There is ample seating inside while you wait for your order (doesn't take long), or you can sit in and eat, though it's not table service. Would highly recommend if you are in the area. read more

Recently stopped by this place after not visiting for 3 years. This use to be my favorite lunch spot during the work week. I no longer work in the area but always happy to stop in when returning to the big city of Cranston. Just as good as I remembered it! I tried their sandwich of the week, the Katy special. It is made with their own homemade cranberry walnut chicken salad, with bacon, cheddar, spinach and tomato. The perfect combination! I already can't wait to revisit. My other all time favorite is the politician sandwich. The best balsamic grilled chicken I have ever had. It was good to be back! read more

Set up is very old school Cranston, so a little blah and tacky, but the food and service made me absolutely not care, and want to go back. While on vacation in RI for a week my wife ate out breakfast/lunch/dinner - after eating Michelangelo's chicken and broccoli sandwich she promptly declared it was the best meal she had eaten all week. And we ate at multiple highly-rated restaurants! I tried the kimchi coleslaw and loved it. Excellent service, too. UPDATE - earlier this week (6/11/2018) we flew into Providence for vacation and promptly went to Michelangelo's for lunch. I've got to start with the stellar service, the people behind the counter are genuinely interested in taking care of your every need. Before our subs arrived we noshed on olive salad, pesto salad, and tortellini salad - all were top notch. I'm a sucker for olives so I went crazy by mixing all three salads together. Flavor explosion! We ordered a Sylvester Stallone to share (meatballs, sliced prosciutto and tomato sauce, topped with melted fresh mozzarella cheese) and the prosciutto turned what would've been a four-star sandwich into a five-star creation. We also shared The Ranchero (marinated chicken and Mexican rice topped with pepper jack cheese and ranch, we had it on white bread instead of a wrap) and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Awesome food and friendly, quick service. I'm a regular here, coming in for lunch at LEAST once a week. The "Smokey and the Bandit" wrap is the best freaking sandwich I've ever eaten. I recently had to start a gluten-free diet, and the owner went so far as to order gluten-free wraps so I (and their many other customers with similar needs) can eat more than just a salad (although their salads are great, too!). This is one of the better Italian delis in Rhode Island. I had not eaten here in ages, and as fate would have it, I was driving by on a day I didn't pack a lunch, so it was time to get re-acquainted. The deli is located in a busy strip mall with a very tight parking lot for the amount of commerce it has to support. Inside, however, the atmosphere is much nicer than the deli's outer appearance. There is a large dining room with round glass tables that you walk through to get to the deli counter. It was a bit awkward as I didn't know the ordering protocol (some signs would have been helpful). I stood waiting for the cashier, who I assumed would take my order and relay it to the workers behind the deli, and the deli workers didn't greet me right away. When the cashier finished with his customer, he directed me to order from the deli workers, one of whom finally acknowledged me. After grabbing a bottled soda from a cooler, I ordered a basic Italian grinder on a hard Italian roll (they give you four choices of bread), and they said I could sit down and someone would bring my sandwich out. Literally about one minute after I sat, my sandwich was brought out - one of the shortest waits ever! I mean, it was Nascar pit crew fast! I grabbed a free newspaper nearby to read while I ate, and found the Frank Sinatra-type music rather relaxing, along with the cooling breeze from the several ceiling fans. A television displayed a not-so-relaxing, bombastic Donald Trump accusing China of currency manipulation - kind of a weird juxtaposition. Most of the clientele seemed to be white collar professionals. Anyway, my sandwich, despite being made in record time, was very good, especially the bread. Meats and cheese were fresh and of high quality. My only (minor) complaint was that I wished the sandwich had more oil and vinegar. The sandwich - although not quite as good as Pauly Penta's or Sandwich Hut's Allitalia - comes pretty close. The price ($6.95 for a regular) was very reasonable, especially given the quality, and it was big enough that I didn't need to get chips or pasta salad to go with it. I was literally stuffed - I could never have finished a large. My total tab, which included a 20-oz. Coke and a brownie, was just over $12, reasonable for quality food in a good atmosphere. Oh, and in case it's your first time eating here, it's okay to leave the plates on the table (I didn't know). Mangia! read more
