Great pizza, good prices and awesome management! I was really struck by the hospitality and good attitude of the people working here. The manager offered me money off on my pickup order because it was running a little late. I declined and he insisted on giving me some free cookies. We got to talking about veterinarians and our dogs. Very personable, nice guy. I had the broccoli/ tomato/ grilled chicken pan pie. Pretty good. It was like a sicilian pie but with the mentioned toppings. Definitely healthier than a typical pizza. Not too salty. I liked it. In fact I noticed that everything we ordered here had a more mild home made type of flavor. Definitely not as salty or greasy as some other pizzerias/ restaurants. The white clam pizza was good too. If I could be a yelp snob for a moment, maybe a touch more garlic flavor or the addition of some chives/ scallions like they do at tommys tavern and it would have been excellent. Eggplant parm with a side of linguini was great. No complaints. Generous portions and tasty sauce cheese and eggplant. Calamari had a good taste to it too but I felt there could have been a little bit more squid in the breading for each piece. It was a generous portion size overall, however. Overall, it was a great place that I look forward to ordering from again. I'm glad to hear they have a sister restaurant in east Brunswick NJ. I can't wait to try that out too. read more

When visiting family this past April, my father got the hair brained idea to take my niece to the Staten Island Children's Museum when NYC public schools were not in session. Despite the museum being what I can only assume hell is like, he did have the idea to go grab pizza before going to my little slice of hell on earth. Michelangelo's is your typical NYC pizzeria (the type of place you take for granted until you move away and really understand how no pizza will ever compare to NYC pizza). They offer a wide array of slices to order, pies, as well as a full menu that includes everything from buffalo wings to burgers to more traditional Italian fare. The man working the counter was super friendly and accommodating to my niece's request for pepperoni and probably put enough pepperoni for a whole pie on her little slice. He also offered to cut her slice in half or smaller to make it easier for her to eat. I had a Sicilian slice and a Grandma's slice and they were both phenomenal. My parents had two regular slices and then a BBQ Chicken slice which they also enjoyed. Want to know what I liked the best about this place other than the pizza? The fact that this place is clearly a neighborhood place that takes the time to know their customers. A woman came in with her daughter and the man behind the counter knew them both by name, and they seem to be daily customers (I can't say that I blame them). This place just strikes me as the type of place where if you come enough, they'll know your orders and are going to be genuinely happy to see you back. Should my travels find me on this side of Staten Island again when visiting family, I for sure will partake in several more slices. read more

This joint serves up some old-school slightly doughy crust pizza with above average mozzarella. If there were other options around they might merit 3 stars but considering the location and food quality they deserve the extra star. I've had their BBQ and buffalo wings which place well above local competition. I'd like to add that the owner is friendly and polite. Much better than other local shops which are run by teenagers who could care less about the job or the customer. Seating consists of 4 4-seat tables with lots of space down the middle. Good price. Good pizza. As a baseline for me, dominos is about 3 stars. 4 stars is that I would prefer it over dominos or other chain pizzas, and 5 stars I would prefer over anything else. Anything under 3 stars would be too expensive for the taste or terrible pizza. So 4 stars is good as I have had better pizza, but if I lived in the area I would definitely return. Salad was pretty plain but had lots of chicken so that was a plus. read more

I ordered thru yelp for delivery and it took over an hour to arrive. Granted, we are in the middle of a thunderstorm, but over an hour for a small delivery? Eh. Plus it was over 10 mins later than estimated time. However, i advised on the instructions to have the driver call me when he arrived, and he did, and he was very very polite. I appreciate that there was no delivery charge. The plain slices i ordered were a really big size and as far as taste goes, just your average slice. Not bad. The caesar salad wasnt great. The lettuce was a little limp and the croutons were flavorless. The garlic knots had no garlic on them...didnt even remotely taste like garlic. The zeppoles were good.
