Terrible experience. If you have a mini split, I would look elsewhere. 6 weeks in the heat of summer without air conditioning as they tried to fix it. Every time they touched it they found something different that didn't work. $3k of effort over those 6 weeks and it still didn't work. Quoted me $9k for a new unit. Got a second price at $2500. Not sure how they do on other types of units but don't call them for a mini split. read more

We've had a service contract with Michiana Mechanical for several years. The contract includes 24/7 emergency service. Yesterday, after being away from our home for several days, our furnace was not working when we returned. Our house was at 40 degrees. We could not get through to Michiana for several hours. After about an hour and a half, we received a text that their phones were down, but they knew we called. Since we had no idea when we could get through to them, we previously called another HVAC company, who came and got our system working. Today, I spoke to the owner of Michiana Mechanical who apologized for the "inconvenience" and wondered why we did not respond to the text. Apparently he thought we should sit in our cold house without knowing if and when we would be able to reach them. He was not able to explain why no one called us from a mobile phone in response to the multiple efforts we made to reach them. Nor did he offer to compensate us at all for the monthly payments we had been making for 24/7 service. His attitude was curt and dismissive. We terminated our contract and now have a new provider. read more

No complaints. The boiler was not fixed, but I am expecting a refund! Thet did help in giving me the exact part # needed and I ordered it immediately. Thank you for your help! I have a new valve body ordered. Unfortunately at my age hauling firewood for days was unacceptable. I removed the valve operator yesterday morning. There was excessive scale on the valve shaft. I Used a screwdriver to manually work the valve, while spraying Rust Buster on the shaft. Initially I measured aprox 30,000 btu's in the hot water supply, while in the valve was in heating mode. After a few hours, in Rust Buster I was able to reduce the btu rate to apr. 2,500. I had excellent heat last night and have reattached the zone motor. I have gone from heating to hot water, for dishes. Back to heating and changing to hot water, for laundry. Now back to heating. I will check the leakage on the zone valve again, but under current circumstances I doubt I will replace the valve until spring. Michael. read more

I'm a reasonable guy, but my experience with Michiana Mechanical has not been good. I called them on Monday [Feb. 1] because my furnace stopped working. They came out and 'fixed' it for $500. The furnace went out again on Thursday afternoon. So they came out again on Friday morning [Feb 5], no charge (the part they put in on Monday was defective). Sunday morning [Feb 7], 3 am, the furnace went out again. It was a windy 7 degrees out. I called, they came out and 'fixed' it again, $200 charge (because it was the weekend). So far, so good... but I have absolutely no confidence that it will stay that way. read more

This company installed a new super high efficiency furnace, a high efficiency air conditioner, and a ductless (non chimney) water heater 5 years ago. I also signed up for their fall and spring tune-ups/maintenance. I couldn't be more pleased. Always courteous, respectful, and now - mask wearing, they have earned my trust. When I called for service they had a two week wait, but they later had a cancellation and were able to fit me in the next day. Technician arrived on time, polite, knowledgeable, did not try to upsell me, thoroughly answered my questions, charged a reasonable rate. After several years of using another service, it was time for a change when our heat went out recently. Upon contacting Michiana Mechanical I am very pleased that we made the change. It turned out very little was being done previously and it was now time for a new furnace in our guest home and major maintenance in our main home. You definitely get what you pay for! Each person I dealt with from beginning to the very end was polite and professional. The technicians were clean and neat. Before and after pictures were provided so that I did not have to go into the crawl space to see that the work was actually done. The technicians went over the completed job to answer any questions and made sure that the units were working properly before they cleaned up and left. Our house has two complete HVAC systems, one for each floor. After 26 years, it was time for replacements. Michiana Mechanical was not the cheapest, but their proposal was the most complete and professional (after a thorough survey of the house) and I had had some experience with the technicians who did seasonal maintenance on the old systems for the past few years. The second floor had an attic installation and the new system is more compact. The installers did an excellent job in re configuring the attic. They ran new refrigerant lines, adjusted the chimney, and laid plywood across the joists in the attic. They were extremely neat and they left the attic cleaner than when they started. The high efficiency Lennox furnace and a/c are much quieter than the old unit. The basement installation of the first floor system was easier and the technicians were able to install the furnace and a/c fairly quickly. They installed an internet connected thermostat which can be controlled using an app on my iPhone. Paul, the owner, did a final inspection with me before my final payment, answering any questions I might have. In addition to Lennox's warranty, Michiana also has a labor guarantee that should alleviate any possible concerns. Michiana Mechanical is professional, extremely competent, and responsive to the homeowner's needs. I highly recommend this company. read more

We had our furnace replaced and they came out and gave us several options and once decided gave us a clear and concise understanding of the work to be completed.
